Glad you decided to keep making vids. I'm watching the snow come down in the USA. Watching these tropical golf courses is making me envious. Enjoy your trip.
So glad you’ve decided to film in Thailand, love that country but haven’t been back since the pandemic…keep the videos coming James and have a great Christmas 🎄
I think this will be an interesting little series showing courses that we wouldn't possibly see played by others, looking forward to seeing the follow up videos in the future👍👍
Hi James... Loved this as it's my home course... I'm glad you enjoyed it! ... Just a note to say that there are 2 course layouts that they alternate each day... you played the 2nd 9 Layout...If you had come the next day, it would have been the front 9 Layout, which is slightly harder! Thank you for your fine review! Pan
Cheers Pan, it is not an easy course even though it is quite short. A few times I joined up with other players and they were losing lots of balls in the water and going OB a lot. The long par 3 on the front 9 layout is a very tough hole! Thanks for watching 👍👍
Nice one James .....looking forward to seeing more videos. You should get a golf day in Wales next summer I'm sure a few of your subscribers would love a round ...I would definitely
Have fun and enjoy your golf James; I'll enjoy it vicariously. The Hairy Golfer made a very interesting series about golf in Thailand. Golf Sidekick of course!!! That would be a must must watch for me.
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 even then I would be very happy with fairways or first cut all the way around! Just needed a few of those short putts to sink and that was a pretty solid round apart from the one hole where your short game departed temporarily.
Brilliant video. I remember getting given a caddy in casablanca, very strange indeed. But loved the video, love how you've improved immensely. If I'm ever I'm Wales will give you a shout
This reminds me of my local course in USA. Not hard looking holes from the tee, but the greens are very small and intimidating. Tricky breaks as well. Love your videos also! Keep up the awesome content.
Great video ive been watching you improve from when u first started. Stick with that driver i have one myself im no expert but I think your driving will be spot on. Can't wait for the next episode.
Cheers Les, the Burner driver seems to be straighter than my Ping G10 but a little bit shorter. Probably due to the lighter shaft I think? When I try and launch one sometimes it balloons up in the air so I was just swinging normally in this video. 👍👍
I have played a few times in Thailand in Nakhon Ratchasima and in my opinion the grass is so different on the the fairways. Enjoy your holiday I was there in September to October and can’t wait to go back in April. Great videos .
I'm really new new to golf & feel this course could be a great place to play as its affordable & close to my home... Great video, If ya fancy a game I'll happily join ya..
That looks like a challenging course. Only the one blow up hole, which is not bad for a course you are not used to playing. Can't wait to see the next course.
Enjoy yourself! Was golfing in Thailand in summer with Thai based golf vlogger Nick Carter, on his C'mon Carter channel. It took a while to get used to the conditions...especially compared to our UK summer conditions. Be good to see you and Nick collaborate. Similar handicaps but opposite golfing styles. Keep Hydrated!
Cheers Jon, the heat out here is unreal even when it's cloudy. I learnt the hard way and make sure to buy water at every drink stop now. I'm not heading down to Phuket this trip but maybe next time 👍👍
Such great content. Love your passion and excited to see more courses abroad. Just an observation….in the bunkers your decreasing club speed on your swing. Commit and swing through it:)
Been following your content quite a while, and I must say they are very useful and insightful. It’s a proof that everyone swing is unique and the most important thing is course management. Keep your video coming mate! PS: Oh yes it is compulsory playing with caddy in most south east asia. I’m from Indonesia and never played without caddy 😊…. Visit Indonesia sometime if you’d like, and we could play together…thumbs up👍
@@notaperfectgolfer3489: It is very hot in Bangkok and here in Jakarta even in Dec, just keep hydrate and avoid the heat as you can, and use umbrella. I always try to tee off as early as possible (5.30 AM) or having quick 9 hole after 4 PM, I tend to avoid a round between 10 AM-3 PM…
Great fun being able to play proper golf at this time of year. Just on your bunker shots, try making your swing a bit longer and accelerate through the ball and try not to decelerate, it takes a bit of practiceto get confident to do that .. its something I am working on as its been the weakest part of my game for ages
Good to see your big ‘reveal’ James. Holidaying in Thailand for a while sounds much better than wet Wales in winter. It seemed really strange you releasing a video from there, I kept expecting Matt (from ‘golf sidekick’) to pop up! Did you adopt his ‘no birdie, no tip’ mantra to your caddie 😂? Anyway, thanks for posting. An interesting video. Cheers.
There were a few people who guessed correct. The viewers gave 1000 likes so I have to deliver the content 👍 I'm not good enough to adopt the 'no birdie, no tip' mantra to the caddie. Maybe I should say 'no par, no tip' instead? haha :-)
Those public courses can play slow in Thailand.... you can get large groups walking the course and a game can take >4 hours. Looks a heavy course after the rain playing longer and getting used to the greens could take a few rounds. I've played a few courses around bangers, will follow to see your journey :-). The caddies can be fun and will size your game up in no time then select the right club/s for you.
Yeah, there was a 5-ball of older Thai gentlemen playing one day and my caddie said they would take 4 hours to play just 9 holes! They were literally taking 15 minutes to putt out. Needless to say I skipped past them 👍 👍👍 👍
I used to struggle out of the bunker and I bought a Cleveland smart sole wedge now instead of just hoping to get out I'm trying to get close or make it
Interesting you say the approach game leaves you after 2-3 weeks. I play every couple of weeks on average and perhaps that's the excuse I have been after! Great to see you playing in a different country!
Cheers Daniel, it was more like 4 weeks and I couldn't hit a green to save my life on the first couple of rounds back. It was really weird. The driver, chipping and putting were all there but the approach play was nowhere to be found! haha :-)
Open that stance on your bunker shots, lay the club flatter and accelerate. Get those bunker shots down and you’ll be a 9 soon. Your iron play is very nice.
I just squashed all my socks and some crushed up newspaper around my driver head and luckily it was ok. My golf travel bag is the cheap Slazenger one from Sports Direct haha :-)
Can’t help but think why all bunkers don’t have compulsory dogs attending - morale lift for when you are stuck in it. Dogs in bunkers way forward. Must have been interesting having a caddy 😅
How long you in Thailand for? I’m in chiang mai right now so would love a game. Tip for travelling with clubs - put a pvc pipe in your bag slightly longer than your driver and it should be fine.
Interesting course. As you say, it's very cheap.... however I can thoroughly recommend a rangefinder. You can pick them up very cheaply nowadays and well worth the money if you're trying to improve your game and getting your yardage right. Never thought of Thailand as a destination for golf.🤔
Had to laugh at your comment about the group in front taking ages to putt out, haha. I live in Phuket and play 2 or 3 times a week here, and sometimes its painful when stuck behind a slow group of 5 in front of you. If you ever make it down this way from Bangkok feel free to get in touch and we can play a round or three. Cheers
Yes, the yardages given were all pretty close. They are great for a bit of banter after a hole no matter the score. It is also good for my back as I don't have to pull a trolley around the course 👍👍
Bunker Tip: draw a vertical line behind your ball and in front. About an inch on either side. Don’t even focus on the ball, focus on digging through the line behind your ball and coming out through the line in front of your ball. It’ll lift the ball right out of the bunker! This has helped me immensely with getting out of bunkers. Especially green side bunkers! (Only works in very sandy bunkers obviously, hard sand or wet bunkers not so much)
Hi james, ill be going to bangkok in the next 2 weeks, i was wondering if i need to book a tee time or call them before going there to play, or could i just walk in and play there?
Great video, I would think it must be difficult to get comfortable using a caddie, and the slow play at the end would really throw you off your timing and pace. Thanks and please keep these videos coming...
Yeah, I'm really glad I didn't film my first rounds over here. I'm still getting used to it. Caddie interactions, slow play, insane heat and other things meant I could hardly swing a club at first haha 👍 👍
Yes, there's not much cheap 2nd hand equipment over here. The new stuff is very expensive. I've been looking to potentially upgrade the driver on Facebook Marketplace but nearly everything is senior flex lol 👍 👍
Really interested to know what kit you use, camera, mic, standard how you get the shot tracer and what software you use to add the other info like hole info and scores etc. would love to record a round of mine to see how I do

It’s not about the courses mate. It’s about you and your game. When a round added up to 1000baht I spat my tea out then googled it🤣 £30 for caddie and a round ? Golf life is good in Thailand 😁
On the subject of rangefinders, I bought one recently but can’t use it. Unless you are steady handed like a statue the readings are all over the place. Look at the flag, 146/529/78/1566 😂
Thailand! Does this mean we might get to see some content with you and Golf Sidekick??? 👀
That would be amazing!!!
First thing I thought when I saw the title! Really hope they do a vid together
Absolutely do something with Matt he is a great guy.

I am in fact, hurt and saddened by this.
