Glad I found your channel - definite 1.5 smash factor! Appreciate your down to earth vids that seem directed at my level of golf. Keep up the good work and best of luck!
Thanks Hannah, as a 70+ old golfer I appreciate your help with my game. I bought a 9 wood this past season and it was the best club to help my game. Love your new channel!
As a high handicapper who's struggled to get my index down.....I realised the clubs I was using over the last few years (cheap Wilson's) weren't doing me any favours, so I did my research before getting a new set and found out the Ping G430's are quite forgiving. Also after doing a fitting, I found out I'm better with a stiff shaft and midsize grips and my score is improving even after only a few weeks with the new clubs!
Excellent content. 100% agree with you on the golf ball. I tested out a few balls this year and I gave them about 2 dozen rounds before I changed so I knew what to look for. Stopped using "found balls" this season too....well except for Fall golf. Next season I'm gonna swap clubs depending on what course I play too. Ended up getting 2, 3, and 4 Sim2 Rescue hybrids (thanks for the video on that too) and I also got the sim2 Ti 3 and 5 wood. I really painted myself into a corner this season by not having anything over a 4-iron, besides driver, and there were a lot of times where I could have reached a par 5 in 2 if I had a hybrid or wood. Appreciate the content.
Glad to see the new channel and fingers crossed it grows quickly. Your content is great. Looking forward to seeing some course management stuff from you especially for the UK winter season.
Refreshing video! Lots of good info in here. And it came out after the night I shafted my own 2-iron as a low swing speed player 😂 that last bit spoke to me
Hannah great video!! In fact they all have been very useful and thought provoking. The idea of one wedge with a more playable sole, as opposed to fat soles with bounce is spot on. I did that this. year at the advice of my PGA teaching pro and it has help a shocking amount. The other idea is get good with one wedge for most shot around the green, has also aided the score card.
Have watched two of your latest videos about distances and correct use of your golf clubs to reduce mistakes. My game away from this is learn to play the percentages club up and don't try to use the same equipment in the same way winter and summer the benefits could be a vast improvement to your strengths and excellent results for your golf. Thank you Hanna excellent content as ever
Nice job. I have watched two of your videos. I really liked the 10 common rules mistakes golfers make. So right on, especially the cart path drop. Keep up the good work. I need to get my daughter and son to start watching these great tips.
Your videos are very informative, well done. I'm a low single digit handicap, once plus but not now. I have a hard time telling the difference between premium golf balls from the major brands. That is, three or more piece urethane covered golf balls. There is a diffence in feel, but performance, hmmm not so much.
I also find it very hard to differentiate feel. Some golfers can easily me not so much. I just use the ball flight and data more! The right spin is a big one for me and a ball that stays high
Excellent format, Hannah. I'm sure this will be a popular channel. Some great advice already. Better to get to the green in stages to avoid hazards, and experiement with easier clubs than the driver. I'll never be a Scottie, Xander or Rory, but I can at least play to the best of my ability and enjoy myself.
Nice video Hannah, with some good points. Great to see your channel growing. You mentioned hybrids or longer woods instead of longer irons. Can you do some on course comparisons pls?
Great channel Hannah, love the honest presentation to a weekend warrior like me. Wishing you all the best with growing your channel. First saw you using full set of hybrids. Using a hybrid PW around the green so much easier than the highly problematic standard wedges . Need to put the ego away and do what works - most of the time😂.
Agree 100% about playing clubs that benefit game I am currently using cobra t rail 6-pw as was having issues fatting shots but now my confidence has increased might be looking at more conventional but still game improvement. Love using my hybrids too.
Hannah, I know that most pros and teachers insist that you’ll play your best when your clubs are professionally fitted. But I’ve always been someone who plays the best with clubs that fit my eye the best-which isn’t necessarily (in my experience) what produces the best numbers on the fitters’ machines. If the club looks really good to me, I’ll be more confident standing over the ball, and I’m much more likely to make a good swing and hit a good shot-regardless of what the machines say. But why do pros have a hard time believing that? For me, at least, what I see really influences my feel-and that’s always made sense to me.
Because the pin is a targetable object, I use that as a beginning, then I decide what part of the green I want to aim at and adjust accordingly. Also, my range finder has GPS built in, so I have that to go by as well. Because I had subscribed to your previous channel, RUclips's algorithm found your new channel for me. Good luck with it! I switched to single-length irons (Wishon) 8 years ago. While I've upgraded within that brand, that's it. It ended 25 years of chasing one set of irons after another. I think I went through about 20 sets during that time. And I guess I'd consider another model if one should emerge. But it's nice not to do that anymore. Now, if someone would get me to stop it with drivers!
@@richdouglas2311 a rangefinder with gps is the best of both worlds 🙌🏻 Yeees glad the RUclips algorithm is doing its work 🙌🏻 How did you find the swap to single length irons? 😅 not trying new drivers is too hard isn’t it
@@hannahholdengolf The driver issue is even more complicated than that because of TM's Mini. I'm on my 4th iteration of it, which is now an amazing club. In fact, I hit it almost as far as my driver, 255y vs 240y. (I'm an old 65 years.) It's really causing a dilemma because it's way more accurate than my driver. (I'd hoped that would change by being professionally fitted for the new PXG Black Ops, but I really didn't see an improvement with that over my previous Titleist driver.) I might just go with the Mini and add another, different club to the bag. The single-length switch was a bit of an adventure initially. Everything everyone fears about them are true...for a bit. The "long" irons felt tiny--like a child's club. And the wedges felt loooooooong. But I got over both feelings almost immediately and they've all since felt natural. The set I have is 4-hybrid through lob wedge, all at a standard 8-iron length. All of the other specs--lie, weight, swing weight, MOI--are the same as well. There is no difference in feel between the 4-hybrid and the LW, for example. And I even got used to the longer wedges around the greens. But.... There was a side effect I didn't anticipate. My wedges were all flying shorter carry distances! This is the opposite of what people fear with these longer wedges--they worry they'll go to far. (They don't.) Glad it was helpful! It’s definitely something that is overlooked but the right club head and shaft combination is really important for the best performance!
Love your new channel, Hannah. Re your advice on choosing what clubs to buy, I recently purchased a set of ELEVEN irons. I found a used #7 on ebay and played it for about a week on the range and on the course. I found my shot shape and distance improved, so I decided to purchase a set. Would you recommend a similar approach, especially since new sets can be very expensive?
Just bought a laser, largely because for front flags ,I just look at the yardage to the front and then hit that, coming up short, convinced if I had the actual yardage to the flag I'd hit the shot there. Also some of our "front" flags are almost in the middle, but that isn't always obvious. I'd just feel more confident with an actual number, rather than a guess. Particularly when my playing partners GPSs are giving a completely different number to mine!
@hannahholdengolf yeah, I've told myself that but it just doesn't happen for some reason? The number on the screen just sticks in my mind (which makes a change as nothing much else does...).
I just received your msg on leaving your old channel…I entered your name in on Utube today and noticed that your new channel is up and running…I really enjoy your content and have subscribed to your new channel…keep up the great work…I’ll be watching…
Yes you want to look for a wood that gives you optimal height so you get max carry distance. I would find somewhere you can hit both options and see what the distance is like!
Great video. I recently bought the Garmin Z30 rangefinder. Not necessarily because I need to know if the pin is 150 or 153 yards. The Z30 gives lets me know how much green I have to the pin and to the back of the green. This has really helped me with club selection. This is especially true when playing a course I am not familiar with.
I put a 7 wood into play this year and it is much easier to hit than the long irons. I add 10 yards to any distance to a flag, it's still very rare to go past a flag.
I love to use the laser to measure pin, centre of green, prominent features like front of green, back edge of a front bunker, or carry to AND well BEYOND a hazard. I'll also check to see if I have a longer carry if I miss left vs if I miss right. I try to use it to define my whole target area. I don't always remember do all of these things. 😜 But I am getting better at doing most of the ones I really need for a given shot.
Hannah - what are your thoughts on the different type of golf shoes / spike / non-spike and their impact on stability and maximizing ground force? Any favorite brands / models?
Good question! People overlook shoes. I personally always favour spikes for tournaments/competitions. There are a few spikeless shoes I would wear for series golf but not many - Ecco, Duca Del cosma. They need to be spikeless but with a textured tread not completely smooth!
These tips are better suited to people who can actually play the game decently. Most amateurs don't hit the ball reliably the same on every shot. It goes lelt. it goes right. For them, just getting the club on the ball to advance it straight is a major accomplishment. Golf is not easy! BTW, you have a beautiful swing!
I use hole 19 as well as my Garmin s62. Hole 19 is excellent for planning the hole to choose the club which sets me up for a 80-100m wedge in to the green especially on par 5s. It's a shot which I'm comfortable with and pretty accurate. enjoy!

@@hannahholdengolf Oh, why thank you. Most generous. :) Whew. That saves me a bit o' cash.
I still think they are relevant! I made these in mind of the average club golfer

Thank you!!!
As high handicapper I just use a gps on the phone, hole 19. A review of phone gps apps would be great, particularly the free ones!
I use hole 19 as well as my Garmin s62. Hole 19 is excellent for planning the hole to choose the club which sets me up for a 80-100m wedge in to the green especially on par 5s. It's a shot which I'm comfortable with and pretty accurate. enjoy!
I have heard hole 19 is good, I will look into it
