My boyfriend taught me this song in 1979, before I'd ever heard it on an album or radio. He needed me to sing the harmony for him when he performed it on stage. I sang what I thought sounded best with it. Later, when I heard the original, I was amazed! I had nailed the harmony vocals right on the money! Pretty cool.

Just simply amazing, English rock with that mystical medieval magic. David Byron, one of the great rock vocalists, whom I think would have gotten his greater due if not for dying young. These guys were incredible. Glad that Mick Box is still out there getting it done for the cause.

I grew up with so many excellent bands. Uriah heep toured with Deep Purple their concerts were magical. I still love this tune for what the song tells us! Thankful to grow up with the best music I still listen to today! Never grow up!
We’re you with us back in those days? I was a teenager. It was magical. The music. It took us places. It was never supposed to end, but sadly, it did. We grew old. Some have gone on. But every time I pause and listen once again to the music, I hear the Wizard. Somewhere in the recess of our spirit, he still lives. If you weren’t there, I’m sorry for you. It was spiritual. Long live the Wizard.
Ahhh......The 70's. A time when our clothing was highly flammable (polyester), Barber shops and hair salons were dropping like flies, every home had ONE (1) phone and it was bolted to the kitchen wall. Socializing wasn't a solitary event, the best memories could be made walking a few blocks down the street and no matter where you went, the sound track to our young lives was always being recorded. Music EVERYWHERE!! And MY personal favorite..... I was dating the son of a preacher, who was probably the biggest stoner in the neighborhood:) (The son, not the preacher) LOL. Looking back now, even the bad times were good.
Yeah... That's probably the best message you can give to people - from everywhere in the world - behind the iron curtain, in front of it or whatever... 'Cause that's not what is ultimately important/essential.

@@jehanne8610 yes, it shows in the underrated song The Old Gods Return. I guessed you like Tanith Lee cause Jehanne is a recurrent name in her work, especially in the Books Of Paradys. She's not bad, her Vis Cronicles are among the Million Favored Ones (:
I grew up with so many excellent bands. Uriah heep toured with Deep Purple their concerts were magical. I still love this tune for what the song tells us! Thankful to grow up with the best music I still listen to today! Never grow up!
*My favorite song in the world & a ridiculously underrated band!!!*
I discovered this song 5 years ago. I don't think there is anything ever made that gives me the same feelings this song gives. It's magical.
Zobraz original
Yeah, Uriah Heep and UFO never got any airplay from my radio station when I was a teen. So overlooked.
True - very underrated
I went to a festival in Austria
Uriah Heep played at 2 p.m.
Can you believe that!!
I know it may sound strange but I have said that this is the one song that I want played at my funeral.
The album cover "laid back" and listening.
The stories...ohhhh...the stories what I /we were doing the first time I was looking at
Beautifully said!!!
I was a magical teen wild one, still am! We could use some real silver stars right about now ❣
Who is the wizard
The Wizard - 1972

David Byron a monster of rock voices!
For me, He and mr. Ian Anderson are the best!
Oh Yes true, he Was fantastic
Spot on Fabio.... Spot on
Yes, David Byron one of the greatest rock vocalists, and with the English theatrical flourish.
Completely agree!!
Gary Thain was a brilliant bassist, RIP.
Also a legend!
YES! oh yes. Thank you for that comment, R G!
Uriah Heep was a great British rock band. Their live album from 1973 is actually quite good, definitely for progressive rock fans.
One of the best singers in 70"s
Dedicated to Dave Byron, a voice like an angel. I got all records, . R.I.P.
This is what makes life worth living for folks. Great music.
What voices...makes everything alive..what a time to be alive.. I was 16 in 1976.. Bicentennial...my God what a time..
This music is sooo good!
True!
70s was awesome. between the 60s and the 70s we were witness to the greatest music ever.
Robert Eller 80s were different but still great. Decline arrived in the late 90s and continues to this day.
Led Zeppelin performed in 2007. As good as it gets.
vietnam
Starduster93 agreed unless you listen to metal, times are good 🤘
-and then came a flock of seagulls..
Some of the sweetest times of my life, And I'm 70 years old. I still love to hear THEM
Zdeno by se taký dožil do 70 let!!!!
Yeah 68 feel fortunate to have been a teenager in the 70s. The music is still the best
Album Uriah Heep 77 Firefly exelent and best.
74 and they still sound great
Their music never grows old for me. Love them
I'm 62 years old...good songs stick with you...this is one that stuck with me.
Sounds like the 70's , for sure. Would have loved to party with you MissDistarr60
Yes.. Best memories....70's
Amen sister! I remember those days well. Just like fine wine, those days get more precious with every passing year.
Sounds like the late 60's I seen them in Portland Oregon 1968-69 I got a tattoo of the Demands & (Wizard) album on my chest.
MissDistarr60
Defiantly, miss those free days!
Anyone got a time machine??
Why don't we listen to the voices in our hearts
'Cause then I know we'd find that we're not so far apart!
Yeah... That's probably the best message you can give to people - from everywhere in the world - behind the iron curtain, in front of it or whatever... 'Cause that's not what is ultimately important/essential.
@@davorinflis3825 I hope I don't sound ridiculous... Both you and Boza Stamatovic are right, especially in 202o-21, when mostly useless rules and fears are created to make us forget this fact, this connection. RUclips isn't without guilt, but there are voices/comments to be found here that are impossible to deny. Fear isn't a virtue, if we don't reach and take hold of people, we lose everything.
@@FirCorred No, you don't sound ridiculous, to me. Rather I think you made a really strong point with your comment!
@@davorinflis3825 - You're very kind. Meat Loaf says in Rock 'n Roll Dreams: "someone must have blessed us when they gave us these songs". It doesn't matter who blessed us, what we do with the blessings is important. Music like this lets us remember what is real and allows us to clasp hands for a moment across every distance there is. Thank you for reaching.
Uriah Heep was my first rock concert in 1974 was fantastic
never will forget the good old times entry cost was $3 for a ticket ha ha
Markus Laugner
Where did you see them in '74, Markus?
Markus Laugner I saw them at hara arena Dayton Ohio
mine to 1972
I lived at the Ghetto's Palace in Dayton, saw a few concerts there as well, not these guys...I didn't get there until 1976.
Now ticket costs 300$ and all we hear is techno mixed rap R&B with crappy lyrics, and we are deaf for 3 days after the show because we were " lucky " to get spot under 20m 1500W woofer oomph ... oomph ... yes, I miss 70's too ....
My dad past away 4 years ago and this song was one of his favorites, I think of him every time I hear this
я просто хочу жить в 70-х... там кайф и моя любимая музыка..
Beautiful song!!!
The music of my youth.
high as fuck, dressed in fabulous carnival rags, sharing some wizard's wisdom
I miss this type of culture so much
Me fucking too
Then the 80s got all slick and polished
Był czarnoksiężnikiem tysięcy króli
Spotkałem go przypadkiem gdy błądziłem pewnej nocy
Snuł opowieści popijając moje wino
Ja i mój magiczny gość - takie dobre odczucia
Miał płaszcz za złota i oczy pełne żaru
A gdy przemawiał czułem głębokie pragnienie
By uwolnić świat od lęku i cierpienia
I ulżyć ludziom by znów poczuli wolność
A ja będę śnił o mojej magicznej nocy
I o milionie srebrnych gwiazd które prowadzą mnie swoim światłem
Grupa warta uznania, dla mnie muzyka
rockowa to w ogóle miłe wspomnienia
z młodości.
Miłego dnia Przyjacielu.
Andrzej Krupa Dziękuję Andrzeju :) serdecznie pozdrawiam :)
Uriah Heep has always had the most kick ass vocalists and bass players. Everyone in the entire band has always been phenomenal.
Remember the kick ass blotter back then??
Uriah Heep at their best, with the best line-up!
I am a 71 year old women and I remember clearly my husband playing this album in our first apartment together. Shockingly, I still remembered most of the words.
Why don;t we listen to the voices in our hearts?
James Maceroni ...that one part is the reason i listen to it today...and yes..why dont we and all...????
A lot of cheap beer and good weed back in the day. These guys were always on the turntable.
They are still on mine.
AR-Sith F.Austin Mine too.
Im 31, i grew up listening to my dads record's. Probably the last generation with any sense
Cheap beer (Schlitz & Narragansett) and cheap weed. Now a days the good medicinal weed is 93 % THC but the people who need it the most can't afford it. It was a time of spectacular music though.
nice one Rocky.....I'm on that buzz @ the moment in Aotearoa/New Zealand....'bout 1:45 pm listening to sounds drinking RTD's(ready to drink) bourbie's & cola.....7%ers.......have a goodie laterz
Ken Hensley, descanse em paz .Um dos maiores tecladistas e compositores que o mundo do rock já viu.
My high school years were spent listening to this incredible band. They never get old
dancin girls, Indian pants and silver boots all wrapped up in Uriah Heep. epic!
songs like this, stairway to heaven and hotel california all tell story instead of being about romance and relationships and nothing can beat a good story
An era when Uriah Heep with Ken Hensley were excellent.
rip ken hensley, gary thain, john wetton, david byron, lee kerslake.
hard to believe
Trevor Bolder
Let's never forget what a BEAST of a bass player Mr. Gary Thain was!!!

And RIP Ken Hensley
Now it's really slipping away.....Just Mick Box left from the most popular 70s line up. RIP Ken....big part of my high school years..thanks for the great music and magical worlds you brought to our imaginations.
Влюблён в голос Байрона с детства ещё в СССР!
Мне 60 начал слушать в конце 70-х одна из лучших рок-групп.Сегодня такого рока нет.
I am so glad my youth was in the sixties and seventies when the music was better than anything produced today (with a few exceptions).
We had the BEST era's EVER!!
Чудеснейшая группа!!! 💗
This song is truly inspirational. Just beautiful.Thank you Uriah Heep. This song takes me back to my youth. Oh for a real time machine. :) Cosentino, Perth West Australia 8/2/19
My father passed away recently.. this was his absolute favorite song. Good memories with him.
This song never gets old
my brother died last summer and this was his favorite too...he was only 64 🕊️
My entire childhood was restricted from music. Upon graduation I discovered Uriah Heep among others. What a revelation. I continue on "a journey of a thousand years."
I can relate. My mom tossed my Kiss Records, and a few others. (one of the reasons that I'm, ah, "traumatized" by organized religions. - I did have some Uriah Heep tapes in my inventory at one time.
***** I think most of us did things like that. Funny thing was, I could still listen to the radio, and tape things off of it, if I had wanted to, or make tapes, without really any name attached to the tape.
***** Yea, if you knew what was playing on an Album Hour, you could grab a great record on the cheap.
Yeah baby, I close my eyes and i'm back in my camero on the way to a bon fire.
I still have this classic on vinyl, along with all the other fab song's on this master piece!!!!!!!!!!!
Ken Hensley. I am crying. R.I.P. Вечная память...
Вот же наградил господь, одного божественным, не побоюсь этого слова, вокалом, а второго композиторским даром.
Ну были же люди...
