You prob won't see this but not only did it answer what I needed, but immediately seeing your energy and demeanor made my day :)
Best fabric video EVER. No special mats, tools, or bonding needed. THANK YOU!!!!❤️....PS I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!! Saved me so much money.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you so much for this, it worked out for my 1st time. ALSO, advise for any Air2 owners, NO NEED to buy fabric blade, it's the same as the fine point, it is just a backup for me now, GEEZ!! Again thank you for this tutorial, it answered all my questions!!
Great tip! Thank you for your kind words :)
I heard that you should designate a separate blade (if using a fine point) just for fabric just like you designate different scissor? True?
Literally was just about to comment and ask her if I even needed to buy a fabric blade hahah since I already bought it to use for this method 🙃 thank you for your comment!
Hello everyone! I sprayed and ironed my fabric with heavy liquid starch. This made the fabric stiff and it cut perfectly!
I can’t thank you enough I bought the cricut maker and have been trying to understand how to make the face mask. I’ve been so frustrated I contacted them directly after twenty minutes on hold I was somehow disconnected. More frustration. However even though I wish your video had one opening line like click in home! That way you see all choices clicking on canvas does nothing! After more frustration finally realized my error was being on canvas versus home! I did it. After several attempts I think I’ve got it. I’ve made over 700 masks so far and donated every one. Now there will be more and I’m hoping no more shoulder pain from cutting! Thank you so much!
you do not know how grateful i am for this video i have had a explorer 2 and just didn't know if i needed the maker
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much. I recently saw a video how to cut material for quilting but it was with the maker. This is a game changer..
You're welcome! Hope this video helped!
This is great information. I’m going to try this with some frantic that I need to cut multiple 2” in square.
Good luck!
Ok you’re a life saver i almost bought the rotary blade for the maker
I was just thinking of using my Cricut Air 2 for fabric. I thought I had to use heat and bond lite and buy a fabric cutting mat for the machine. But according to this, I can use the regular green mat? And perfect circles!!! Great!
this is the best channel on RUclips
Thank you for this I am making my first banner and this is a lifesaver!! Much appreciated✌️💜
Thank you guys, "sew" much!!!
I've had the AirOne for several years. And I've gotten my money's worth from it. I've really enjoyed it. I was finally able to purchase another cricut and had a hard time choosing.
I finally chose the Air 2.
💗💗Love it💗💗
Great to hear! We LOVE our Air 2's! :)
Thank you! You made it so much easier to learn how to do it.
You're welcome!
Great video for us beginners! Thanks!!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much. This is so helpful. I cant wait to try it for a project i have on my mind.
Glad it was helpful!
thank you, I just got one of these today for christmas and have no idea how to even start using it.
Have fun! Thank you for watching!
OMG. THANK YOU I ALMOST SENT MINE BACK TO HSN 🙏🙏🙏💓🤗
Wonderful! So glad you found this helpful!
Great project!! Helpful for quilted paper piecing❣️
Thank you so much!
Thats why I was watching too
Hey Becca. Thank you for your video! I am new to this channel but we’ll come back for more. I am researching circut machines and I am planning to get a circut air. But a question that will help me make a decision is. : can I use the same method ( and blade) to cut felt.
So I really loved this tutorial. I did try it but it cut on my mat as well as the fabric. Any tips? What did I do wrong?
Can you use Parchment paper as well?
I recently wanted to get into cosplay and I'm so excited that I found this tutorial! Thank you!
I'm so glad!
@@MakersGonnaLearn yuyuffojol
Could you use parchment paper?
i’m so,glad i saw this
We're so glad you did too!
This has made me very happy!!! ❤ you are the best!
Thank you!
I always wondered how to do this thank you
You are So welcome!❤
Totally awesome!! That circle is PERFECT!!! LOVE IT!! Thank you very much!!!💗💗💗
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed this video!
Any specifics on what fabrics work for the air? I was thinking of purchasing the maker but if my explorer can cut the fabrics i work with then I can save me some money lol
Super thin cotton fabrics. Don't try to cut anything thick :) If you're wanting to cut anything thick, you will need the Maker! Also stick to large and simple designs :)
Get the maker
Yay. I’m so happy to have ran into your video. ❤️
Thanks for the trick! Do you think cutting fabric using my Air2 will dull the blades quicker? 🤔
It most likely will, yes :) I would have some extra blades on hand!
Use a peice of foild...crumply into loose ball...poke needle in and out to re-sharpen needle.
This is awesome! Thank you!! Can you use the standard blade for this, or should I invest in a fabric or some other blade? Thank you!
This is the fine point blade :)
@@MakersGonnaLearn Thank you!
Elaine this is a great question and exactly what I was thinking when I watched this video. Can I cut it with just my find point blade or do I need a Bonded Fabric blade? Definitely going to be buying a replacement fine point blade to have just in case this dulls my current blade and makes it so that I can’t have crisp cut lines anymore but that is some thing I would’ve had to do anyways and I am super excited to try may be cutting out some little eyes out of thin black fabric for some of the little crochet dolls I want to make for my daughter and possibly sell 😊❤️
Thank you I'm just learning definitely going to try it x
Wow! Thanks so much for this tidbit. Freezer paper? Hump! Who would've 'thunk' it? ;-)
If you have a fabric grip mat do you need to bond it to freezer paper?
I was wondering this too. Did you ever try it?
Would love to know the answer to this.
Yes! I always do because it gives it a nicer cut.
Are you able to cut stretchy fabric with this technique as well?
Quick question, would this work on lenticular fabric? I would like to make lenticular images. This is pretty much the deciding factor if I should purchase this product or not. I would truly appreciate a response, thank you very much.
Would you recommend purchasing a easy press even if you have a household iron
I have an easy press and it’s so much easier to use than the household iron, so personally I’d say yes
Love your name ;) But yes, I definitely have found that the EasyPress is much easier to use in my experience. The Cricut website has instruction on how long & how hot you need to use the press on your project. It also tells you if the vinyl needs to be pealed hot or cool. The timer feature is great, too. I will say that depending on the size you get, if you live in an older home, your lights may flicker 😅
@@mrscoolwhipp lol love your name 2 and gonna save up for one because my mom does not want to buy me one
Any tips for denim with the air 2? Or that’s a maker only capability?
Great!! Thank you so much for the tip! Is there a way this works on the cricut joy too? Or better even would there be a way to cut felt with a joy?
I am new to this and I don't have either of the supplies (mini iron and freezer paper) Is it safe to use regular iron and wax paper?
Regular iron is fine! But wax paper is not. You need freezer paper because it only has wax on 1 side, which is necessary for this :) Great question though!
Just wondering if I can use heat and bond instead of freezer paper?
Thank you for the this video. It will definitely help me with my explore Air 2.
You are So welcome!😊
I have been cooking all my life and am a pastry chef and I have never heard of freezer paper. What is it? Is it like wax paper? Or parchment paper?
Freezer paper is like a 1sided wax paper! You heat the shiny waxy side and the wax melts and binds to the material, then it peels right off with no residue. Freezer Paper: amzn.to/3eQtUCk
Right?? I was thinking the same. I cook all the time so when she said freezer paper, I had to rewind just to verify the box said "freezer paper"! Kinda funny how we've cooked/baked our whole lives but never heard of this. The old adage 'you learn something new every day' is so underrated. 😄
Would I use this technique for Fleece?
If I have the fabric mat do I still need to bond to freezer paper?
Thank you for this video and tips
You are so welcome!
you have helped so much
Hi love your video. So the cricut air comes with which blade. Also want to know what bonding to use if one want to adhere it to a t shirt for instant
Kindly check the details of what comes with the machine you are buying. www.amazon.com/dp/B01GSOMVRG?tag=onamzmakersgo-20&linkCode=ssc&creativeASIN=B01GSOMVRG&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.33NCUASGO0CPU&th=1
is there a substitute for freezer paper from Cricut, very curious!
Can you only use cotton fabric or can you cut other types of fabric using this method?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have the air 2 and eventually want to get the maker but there are a few other things I want to get first. Seems to me if the the air 2 has a wool, they would just add cotton to. So going to book mark this.
Yay! Thank you so much, Susan💖
will wax paper work and if so how would you recommend doing this
If you were to try to put a rotary blade into an explorer air would it just not work or have an error message or would it mess up the machine do you know what would happen?
So unless you've seen a Cricut Maker it won't make much sense, but the Maker has a set of gears in clamp B, gears which intertwine with the gears on the rotary blade, the knife blade, etc. Without the gears working together the blade/tool will not do anything, it will simply not work. Good question though! No one's ever asked that before, it was fun to answer!! :)
Thank you thank you thank you so much
Thank you, I have Cricut like you used.
Wonderful! We love our Explore Air 2!
What kinds of fabric can this cut please? Polyester?
Can i cut heat n bond on my cricut 2
I would have never thought of cutting fabric on my Explore air 2.. this is pretty cool. Do you think this could work with regular Contact sheet or the Glad Press and Seal too?
Hard to say, feel free to test it!
I love your videos as usual. Thank you!!!!
You are so welcome! Thank YOU for watching and commenting!
Mind blown!!!! thank you
You're welcome!
Yes! This is a great idea. I am convinced. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Just what I was looking for 👍
Thanks for watching!
The air 2 has the dial option for bonded fabric. Can that be used instead of custom?
Sure, but that setting expects you to use the Fabric Bonded blade as well...
Hello, is it better to get the rotary blade for this. 😊
Well, yes. But the Cricut Explore Air 2 does not have the capability of working with the Rotary Blade, which is why we made this video for non-Cricut Maker owners :) However if you have the Maker, yes, use the rotary blade.
The freezer paper sticks to my mat terribly when I tried this, and the fabric ended up not cutting (it just crumpled during the cutting process). Any suggestions? Used the green mat as well, and Reynolds brand freezer paper.
Use a lighter mat :) Make sure your blade is relatively new, and choose "more pressure" :) Good luck!
I will try that. Thank you 😊
Thank you very much
You're welcome!🙂
Do you think this could be done with faux leather and suede?
I cut faux suede with my explore air 2 with no problem!
Can you use the fabric blade? We bought one with the pink fabric mat.
yes, you can!
Ideas on keeping blades sharp. I will do one project and send I need another blade
Clean it by poking it into a ball of tin foil. Adjust the pressure to more to make the blade last longer (this can be done once you select your material in Design Space). These tips help us the most!
My fabric keeps getting pulled by the blade. Not sure what is going on as Ive followed all the steps in this video and am using same materials! Cutting a very thin bonded cotton.
Same here. I followed all the steps and it failed.
Great tutorial!
Glad you liked it. Thank you for watching. 😊
Can you cut fleece with the Explore?
Thank you, great video!
Do you have to use an ink jet printer to make things with this or just a plain printer?

Can I use this process for a felt back faux leather?
Depending on the thickness!! There are just so many thicknesses of faux leather.
@@MakersGonnaLearn ok thank you!
Does it leave the fabric waxy.
I have an explore Air 2 and I quilt. My family bought this for me because I hate cutting. Can I use the Design studio to cut rectangles and squares (maybe some triangles) for quilts?
Yes! definitely recommend getting the rotary blade she mentions. I had tons of issues following this video with the blade she uses on basic thin fabric.
This was AWESOME!!
Thank you so much!💖
will it work on wax paper? is it the same thing?
What I the knife I need to use to cut fabric with my air 2 ?
If you can attach a link it will be better🙏😊
Just bought a Cricut Explorer and curious why bond material?
Wow! Thanks for this tip. It'll allow me to use something I already have on hand. ;-)
You're welcome!
Can you cut crepe paper on the explore air2?
You cannot, unfortunately. Crepe paper needs to be cut with the Rotary Blade which is an Adaptive Tool of the Cricut Maker.
I want to create applique letters to embroider over. Can I use an iron on stabilizer?
thank you
My mini easy press is my favorite little thing!!
Yay!
I am sure you can cut Quilt patterns. Is that so?
Yes, you can with the Cricut Maker: amzn.to/2S1iFNB . It has the Adaptive Tool System which is used with the Rotary Blade to cut lots of fabrics :)
This is a great idea. What is freezer paper called in UK?
Here you go. www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=Reynolds+Freezer+Paper+Plastic+Coated+50+Sq+Ft+%283+Rolls%29&ref=nb_sb_noss
Could I use masking tape to back the piece
This is great Becca!! Thank you!! 😊💜
You are SO welcome!❤
Can “felt wool bonded” be used for layering fabrics?
You must cut fabric one layer at a time :)
Thanks
Can u cut fabric for tumblers
sorry, not sure what you mean! We've never cut fabric for tumblers?
Please show how to do this on a Maker. I sew doll patterns.
The way it lifted while cutting, I am skeptical that you could do much useful cutting using this method. Looks like letters wouldn’t stand a chance.
Question does the adhesive of the freezer paper stay on the Fabric ? She didn’t show the back to well.
No, not at all! It's not adhesive, it's wax. The freezer paper has to be laid on the fabric shiny side down because that's the side the wax is on, and the wax is what adheres the fabric to it. Once peeled off, it leaves no residue at all!
So will it destroy the textile? I would like to make for my baby, I just wonder any harm will leave on the cloth…
Hope someone help for explain it🙏🏻🙏🏻Thanks a lot.
Is this the same as parchment paper?
I'm confused lol...my air 2 has a bonded fabric setting on the dial so shouldn't that be all that needs to be set for cutting the fabric?
With that setting you have to use the Fabric Bonded Blade: amzn.to/3pw44rI . This video is for those of you that do not have that :)
@@MakersGonnaLearn ok, ty..so doing it ur way what do u set the dial too?
