Caution: watching PREPAREDMIND101 videos could be hazardous to your wallet! LOL. Every time I watch one of your videos, I want to go buy another sweet knife. Thanks Chris..I thank you, even though my wallet does not, lol. I've been eying this one up, but have yet to pull the trigger on it. Glad to see a review of it. I'm a fan of 52100 steel..holds an edge fairly well, but when it does need a tune up, it sharpens very easily. If you don't let it get to bad, 15-20 passes on a strop will have it splitting hairs again. It does rust very easily, but that is not an issue for me, as I take care of my blades. Really pretty knife!
Yes, you are totally right. Furthermore, we have higher risks to hold a greater urge if we can't make a purchase because of the shipment (some of items can't be sent to my country...).
Please enjoy good shopping and out-door life. Actually, there are several knife makers who are famous worldly like Kiku Knife in my nation but they are not for my preference. All of my favorite blade masters such as Daniel Winkler are in the US...
I own quite a few 52100 steel knives... it's a great steel. Almost identical to 50100B (aka 1095 cro-van) which is another great steel. I have 2 Lon Humphrey knives... and now it looks like I'll be buying another... that is one beautiful blade!
I got mine! My wife bought it for me soon after I bought her a couple of nice knives. Got mine in Big leaf Maple burl w/blue liners. Very beautiful piece of work!
Thanks for the review good job. I love Lon Humphrey's knives and own 4 of them. The Hunter, White tail Gunfighter and the Bushcrafter Pro. The Bushcrafter Pro was a limited run like the Bushcrafter and both those knives are scandi grinds. The Kephart also comes in scandi grind or saber grind and is still avaliable on DLTTrading in 1095 or 3V steel.
I have one of his Muleys with curly maple handle. I love the brut de forge look. My main knife being a drop point Bark River Bravo 1.5, I had one hell of a time resisting the urge to purchase this knife, especially with the maple leaf I saw on KSF. I mean, I'm REALLY not going to use both, but the ergonomics on this blow my Bravo away. When I saw this knife a few months ago I literally went DAMN! WHERE WAS THIS KNIFE TWO YEARS AGO? I can't bear the thought of my bravo becoming just part of my collection (like so many others before it...). Really, when am I going to need BOTH? The Muley, though, now gets carried around more than the bravo and other knives in camping situations. Lon makes the most beautiful knives, and if I didn't have my bravo and other large knives I'd get the Bridger in a heartbeat. I say all this and I KNOW I'm going to buy one. Yes, yes I am. I must. Damn you Tanner! There were only a couple left and now they're all going to be gone. (knives split minds like they do wood...)
Lon Humphrey is the man ! He makes some badass knives! If you find yourself in a survival situation, and you’re lucky enough to have a Lon Humphrey knife, you got LUCKY !
Was my next purchase. Now just gotta wait for it in the mail....Unfortunately I had to buy a micarta handle version due to all the Dark Curly Maple being taken, but I know I'll still love the knife! His Muley and Bird&Trout are fantastic knives as well.
Thanks Chris. I was checking out Lon’s work and decided to go to your channel for an independent opinion. I have been a long time subscriber and I trust your reviews. As a result I just bought one. The price is reasonable and the quality looks awesome! Thanks for your review. I particularly like the length!
I just received my Bark River Cub last week. Thanks Chris, for making the video on that knife. Going up to the mountains on the 27th and you can be sure that its coming with me. By the way I got the one with the Black Micarta canvas and red liners....sweeeeetttttt. I opted for the black leather sheath also.
I bought one of these within hours of seeing it. I just wanna thank Chris for holding it up and rotating it for most of the video. That knife is the sexiest damn knife I’ve ever seen!
If I was you I would grab one before Lon becomes to mainstream. His knife prices have been creeping up over the last few years and it's getting harder and harder to nail down one of his blades. For a custom knife that is hammer forged and given a heat treat by him instead of being sent off to do so, you cannot beat the price.
Yep... I have one of his Kephart design knives... amazing quality in construction and just a beautiful knife to use. It doesn't have the sharp spine either... but you can sharpen it (at least a small section - if you think you really need to - as for me nope . Not gonna do it.) Special kind of knife for certain. Well worth the purchase. All the VERY BEST!
Lon's knives are my favorite. The rustic charm and good looks with the reliably tough craftsmanship they are spot on. And love the finger guards too. I have the Hunter with buckeye burl handle and a white tail with the curly birch handle. I love them both. I am saving for a hellhound next that will go great with my hand forged tomahawk and pole ax from H&B Forge. And need me one of Lon's Scandi grind keparts in the CPM 3 V.
The designer of the knife did a great job putting it together. The design of the blade reminds me of the Lon Kephart designer who originally designed the Kephart knife built by Ka-Bar knives. The back of that blade is designed the same way and that is how the people at Ka-Bar built those knives.
O.O Beautiful! Love the Dual Forgery! I know this is old- I get a lot of your old vids in my feed and this blade stopped my scroll. Out of stock of course. But, he does make a really pretty Nessmuk. Also, got my first 4oz tin of Grumpy's. Looking forward to applying it to my new JXV :) Thanks for the awesome reviews. -Seth
I really like this knife. I was working on a design that is very similar but with slight changes. Love the Hammer forge marks. I'm definitely going to check out his other stuff.
Okay, so I loved this fine piece of form and function that I pulled the trigger and bought one. Knives ship free, 020850. I am very excited. Will need a tacta cooler sheath for sure but will have to save up.
Guys if you want a similar sized knife in 52100 steel but without the price or fanciness then look at the drop forged series of knives from cold steel they are new from last year.
PREPAREDMIND101 i use my knives for tasks not art. the drop forged bowie is very comparable to this knife in size and type of usage they will be used for. just because its not burl handle and mirror finish its not worthy? even though its the same steel, better corrosion resistance and 1/5 the price and performs the same tasks. yes if your are looking for a pretty knife then nevermind.
Great looking knife..nice design. For me however, a do everything knife aught to be able to strike a ferro rod as well as process find wood shavings with the spine. I guess you could fix that with a file...but I'd rather not have too.
Nice knife Chris. Can you tell me anything about the GSO series from Survive Knives? I ordered a GSO 4.1 two years ago and have yet to receive the knife!?!? I have a ton of stuff from BRKT, and just received a new piece from Ed Martin that is my new favorite. Keep up the great work! I've been watching for years.
That's why I never reviewed them. It looks to me like they have some sort of thing going where they have to sell knives to get money to build ones already sold. That's kinda like getting trapped in the Payday Loan Loop. I don't know why anyone buys them anymore. That's ridiculous.
Thanks Chris! I had a feeling it was something like that. Maybe I will send it off to you for review if I ever get the freakin' thing. You and Will try to stay cool out there and keep up the good work.
Been a Lon Humphrey fan for awhile, he makes awesome knives, and his heat treat is spot on! He does awesome things with 52100! Glad ya took the plunge and snagged one, the Bridger is fantastic! Have a few.
You got yourself a knife that will last a very long time. I watched Lon stress test his work {even shot it with a magnum ~repeatedly~ that revealed no damage on the edge}. How many knife makers have that much confidence? ~ I own one of Lon's brut de forges and I always bring it with me. They're very dependable and work horse knives. Definitely my Go2. With a fire steel, you're better off using something else, though. A pocket knife or a striker will do just fine.
52100 is fantastic steel. Bob Kramer uses it a lot. It is extremely reactive though, so you have to treat it like you’d treat 1095. It’s very easy to sharpen, holds an edge better than most carbon steel, and the kicker, it’s produced in America.
I wanted to ask you brother about a knife. It was a collaboration between some survival website and Tops knives. It had a flat spine and a sweeping belly. Looked similar to the B.O.B. I forgot what it was called. But wanted to know if you remember and if so is it still available on their website

Tim Gannon dam you made me look for mine is ok is safe

Been wanting a Lon Humphrey for a long time. Years and years. Don't have the money, but his work is great
I got mine! My wife bought it for me soon after I bought her a couple of nice knives. Got mine in Big leaf Maple burl w/blue liners. Very beautiful piece of work!
Lon is my favorite knife maker. I have 4 of his knives and they are all so fine!!!!!
Lon Humphrey is a master at his craft.
Thanks for the review good job. I love Lon Humphrey's knives and own 4 of them. The Hunter, White tail Gunfighter and the Bushcrafter Pro. Just beautiful. Almost too good looking to use.

That's a good looking knife Chris. Lon does solid work! I wanna get my hands on one of his Gunfighter Bowies.
Your giveaways just keep getting better. Thank you.
Lon Humphrey is the man ! He makes some badass knives! If you find yourself in a survival situation, and you’re lucky enough to have a Lon Humphrey knife, you got LUCKY !
That knife is beautiful. I can see his influence on Dark Timbers design.
Was my next purchase. Now just gotta wait for it in the mail....Unfortunately I had to buy a micarta handle version due to all the Dark Curly Maple being taken, but I know I'll still love the knife! His Muley and Bird&Trout are fantastic knives as well.
Tom S Micarta is better if you plan on using it
Yea same, I got. Green micarta, but hey at least you know it’s extra durable now!
I have one of Lon Humphreys kepharts! His knives are just beautiful and unique! Love the Review!
Awesome Knife. Excellent Video!! H.
I love mine I have the fleur-de-lis segmented handle with yellow liners
Thanks Chris. I was checking out Lon’s work and decided to go to your channel for an independent opinion. I have been a long time subscriber and I trust your reviews. As a result I just bought one. Sweet Blade!

$238 is a hell of a price point for that knife! Gorgeous knife and sheath.
Yeah for a custom knife hammer forged and given a helluva heat treat by him, it's a steal. Those prices won't last forever.
That's on the list I love my Hellhound.
beautiful knife... kinda reminds me of the custom Peter Kohl knives from Dark Timber.

That is an extremely good looking knife. Good choice.
I'm in love 😍

"...I sit there and stare at it when I am watching TV late at night..." I thought I was the only one who did this.🤭

stunning knife
Where is part 2 ? :O i want to see more!
Makes some nice blades, look in at his stuff for awhile....nice refresher over Bark River! Good review!!!
That's such a beautiful knife!
looks like a bark river sheath but darker leather
Definitely a beautiful blade!!!! Great video!
In the immortal words of Ralphy...
"OHHHHHHHH FUDDDDGGGE!"
That thing is gorgeous.
Nice blade
Just got mine...very nice! The sheath is not, I need kydex. Any one making them yet?
now that is a beautiful knife, i'm going to save up for one of lon's knives
I really like this knife. I was working on a design that is very similar but with slight changes. Love the Hammer forge marks. I'm definitely going to check out his other stuff.

Koa wood never fails to impress. Beautiful, unique grains in each piece.
Still waiting for another batch of Honey badgers to come out .... keep missing the sale. Literally gone in under a minute.
That looks like a great fighting knife.
Love the look of Lon's knives. I bet that one would work well in the camp kitchen, too.
Nice but I’d like a 90 deg spine. Think I’ll still wait for another batch of BRK cubs.
Guys if you want a similar sized knife in 52100 steel but without the price or fanciness then look at the drop forged series of knives from cold steel they are new from last year.
That's like comparing Apples and Bricks.

MrRPM110 heat treat matters too. Comparing a custom to production is bonkers.
Shail Adrian Jagmag if thats what you gotta tell yourself
MrRPM110 facepalm.
That does look nice
His kephrt knife is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a beautiful knife. Great video as usual.
Awesome blade. Sheath looks like a gunny sheath from BR
I may have missed it, but have you looked at the benchmade bushcrafter?
I believe a blade should be able to process wood, including baton. But that’s too nice to beat up. Thanks for doing so I don’t have to 👍🏻
love it
Dude that is awesome.
Beautiful knife I really like the design. I never heard of this knife maker I will have to check out. As aways good review.
I could never use that knife in the real world, it's just to pretty.
Nice
One wicked knife. i like what they have been doing. I wish it had a 90 on the spine. Time to break out the chainsaw file. nice review
Mine can strike a ferro rod
Beautiful blade!
Great knife!
Was there ever a part 2 to this video?
Nope. He's a teaser.
Great looking knife..nice design. For me however, a do everything knife aught to be able to strike a ferro rod as well as process find wood shavings with the spine. I guess you could fix that with a file...but I'd rather not have too.
Which is better for hunting (field dressing, skinning, stabbing to bleed animal) alpha or the bridger?
So it's made to be an Everything Knife, but you can't use it for striking a ferro rod. Okay....
The handle on that knife looks amazing...I'm jealous.
Very nice, looks awesome and that’s half the appeal!!
Nice knife Chris. Can you tell me anything about the GSO series from Survive Knives? I ordered a GSO 4.1 two years ago and have yet to receive the knife!?!? I ain't attaching my name to that brand by even reviewing it.
Will this be the give away knife?
Been a Lon Humphrey fan for awhile, he makes awesome knives, and his heat treat is spot on! He does awesome things with 52100! Glad ya took the plunge and snagged one, the Bridger is fantastic! Have a few.
Sweet knife.
I've been looking at this knife for a while just waiting for another review. Thanks for the video Chris. great as always. Now to save money.
I bought one I’ll write a comment about it when I get it
Whoa...I imagined that knife being much smaller than that for some unknown reason. Sweet looking blade.
Beauty aye!
Niiiiice!
Lon makes a mean Kephart too.
"Out of the park" in every category , no doubts ! The price is also terrific ! Fine review !
Hello Chris, that is an awesome knife. Thank you so much for sharing. Be safe out there.
Nice one Chris
You got yourself a knife that will last a very long time.

Just found out Lon Humphrey is from Newark Ohio that's where I live. It's a small world

AftermathOutdoors 52100 is actually easier to hear treat than 1095 and tougher with better edge stability.
i have a hellhound of his and it is fantastic
Yeah that is nice!
Thank you Chris that is an awesome knife now I’m thinking of getting one. Dam you. I mean that in a good way. LOL..!!!
I wanted to ask you brother about a knife. It was a collaboration between some survival website and Tops knives. It had a flat spine and a sweeping belly. Looked similar to the B.O.B. I forgot what it was called. But wanted to know if you remember and if so is it still available on their website
Preserverance Survival Knife
Yes! That's the one thank you Chris for your time and insight. Your channel helps alot of us believe me.
Very nice!
Cool looking knife
It's stained walnut that he gets custom delivered by some Amish folks.
Bought this knife last month, great blade, love the leather sheath, just wish it had a little more retention.
That scandi 3V Kephart he makes looks like my kind of knife!
Belíssima lâmina👋👋👋👊
Nice looking knife
Love his designs but his knives are just too thick. Wish they were slimmer
When is Lon going to make more Gunfighter Bowies?
They're in the works currently. Keep your eyes peeled, though, it's a small batch.
Damn sweet looking knife. I should win that in a GAW! LOL
