I was excited to work on not one, but TWO! fancy ladies this time and so many more projects.
I have super cute new pattern stash and some related (and very exciting!) shopping announcements so do NOT miss that!
I even had a visit from a frog but the good kind that brought their own rainbow!

I like the idea of all the cake, the walking a bit less so 😂 TALKING of needles, i just snapped one while listening to you. One with a gold eye as well. The cake and the stitching are definitely my fave bits on a holiday!! Sorry to hear your needle snapped but yes hopefully the others will be better. I have definitely been enjoying the sunshine...LHDT and I have been doing more walking 😂

As a Canadian, I love listening to you talking during the videos. I have problems understanding some British accents but you’re easy to understand. I am a slow stitcher so admire how much you get done.
That's so very kind of you 😊 I very much enjoy seeing what others stitch. No cross stitcher will ever have enough time to stitch everything they want (no matter what speed you stitch!) so it's such fun to have flosstube so we can live vicariously through others as well as get our own stitching done!

Kat very nice progress on Gaia ❤, love the frog 🐸, and glad the lamp worked great! Omg just keep working on the flowers for a finish! The telescope Sal is so pretty, great idea on the swapping between colors to dark! Love those colors on the sorceress. The deadly aquarium I love ❤️. I love the little fox. I don’t mind them they are just slower because they have to be done one at a time instead of the Danish stitch!
You know the numbers below 150 in Dmc has variegated floss.
I love the needle minders. Those are perfect for stitching in hand.
I am glad the dragon will be back with 5k.

I am very honoured to have had your full attention today 😘 And that I made you giggle with the cake happening...I am just sad that I didn't actually have any pictures! All that cake and not one picture 😂Thank you for your thoughts on the fox but it's blended not variegated so you can still do Danish method - yay!! But also very good point about the DMC variegated and I will have to check my stash because I am sure I have some. I'm excited for the 5k on Dragon too...even if it does mean touching the other WIPs less. It does deserve a bit more love 😄

Love the Joan Elliot piece, not seen this before. Your fox is sooo cute🦊♥️. I'm enjoying everyone's SAL, It has such beautiful colours in, didn't realise it was a buffer fish, it looks fabulous with his spikes. Nor did I realise he had a face, so gorgeous 😃.It's so good to hear Rachel new venture is going so well. Talking of which, the two charts you chose are going to be great when stitched. Your holiday photos showed such wonderful scenery, glad your holiday recharged your batteries. Enjoy every stitch until the next time stay safe🤗

I am really loving seeing how different everyone's Deadly Aquarium looks with different fabrics and personalisations 😄 Can't wait to stitch those new charts...perhaps if we had an extra day in the week I could get to them?!

You've reminded me that I have been meaning to go and watch SewmeSarah as a few people have mentioned her flosstube! I'm not sure I'm a bath bun fan...but I do love a scone with jam and clotted cream!
Interesting to know you don't rate gold needles; I've definitely had some in the past that felt that drag on the fabric...like they were a bit 'sticky' almost. I have to say that's not been a problem with the Cross Stitch Guild ones.

A wonderful holiday and Gaia progress... I really couldn't ask for any better 😄 We are both fighting with an over-abundance of WIPs right now I think and it's just not possible to get to them all every week or even 2 weeks 😂

I just signed up for the Deadly Aquarium SAL yesterday. A lot of flosstubers are talking about it, I couldn’t resist any longer.I can’t wait for my supplies to get here so I can start. I love your fabric choice for it!
The Deadly Aquarium is pulling in a lot of folks but then it really is a great design and so fun to stitch; I hope you enjoy it! One of my fave things has been seeing all the fabric choices...of course I love mine best 😂
could listen to u hours on end as ur talking bout all ur progress and new stuff ! i myself just finished my very first counted-stitch and im so proud of myself (were around 14k stitches) ^.^

@catkinandlillie yes it's two different hobbies. Sometimes I look at my stash and think I don't think iv got enough life to do all the things though 😂

It was lovely hearing you talking about your holiday. Lake District is one of my favourite places in the uk, and I particularly love Keswick and Derwentwater. And you have inspired me to go and buy the deadly aquarium - her use of colour is amazing!
I am definitely going to have to go back and see more of the Lake District, and Keswick has been mentioned by a few people so thanks for the recommendation. I seem to be enabling a few people to get involved with the Deadly Aquarium but I am fine with that because it's such a fabulous design! I agree...the colours are amazing 😄

I like the 'yet' on the end of your sentence 😂 I can highly recommend a fancy lady! It's worth finding one you are really drawn to as they can be quite a lot of work and I would also say pick carefully depending on how much beading you want to be doing! The Bella Filipinas I have are very bead heavy and I am not 100% sure I love so much. It's not so hard to do but it's a lot of extra stuff on the fabric! That's very much a personal preference though. I'm really wanting to get to the beading on a Joan Elliott as I think it might be more my thing.

I was talking to my husband only the other day about getting a pattern that said "I'd rather be stitching!". its a beeeautiful pattern. will definitely check her out. I very much enjoy hearing your recommendations of other flosstubers and places to buy threads, fabrics etc. Most flosstubers i watch are in the US so can't buy from most the places they get there stuff from. I'm so impressed on your progress with Gaia, that's amazing. Can't wait to the next video. :)

Love to hear you talking about your holiday in the Lakes, we often go to Keswick for the day, its so lovely up at the ancient Castlerigg stone circle if you've ever seen it?. Who needs Stonehenge!!! Ha ha. Its a 360° veiw over the town and mountains/ hills. Stunning just stunning Kat. 😊

Lovely progress on Gaia. Looking really good. I use gold needles all the time. Mostly from the Cross Stitch Guild, and I have never had any gold loss on the needles. Good luck with your trial. Talking and Happy Stitching.❤❤

Lovely video as always. I loved you talking about your trip. When I was young we had a touring caravan and we've been to Ambleside a few times. I love your fox design so much, it looks very similar to one of my tattoos, so I'll have to stitch him. ❤

Loved this, such a variety of stitching. The very best gold needles are from the cross stitch guild, guaranteed not to wear off. I have some I’ve had for years! Still like new. Jane Greenough introduced them when she founded the guild. I’m sure there is a RUclips of her talking about them. Until next time 🧡
Great to hear you've found the Cross Stitch Guild needles good to use and that's amazing that the gold just hasn't worn off at all! I read about the story about them on the website, which is fascinating and definitely encouraged me to try them.

Aw, thanks so much 😊 I definitely feel like I'm chatting with a friend when I record flosstube and it's a delight to share everything and have a laugh. Poor fox doesn't actually have a name; it's just 'Woodland Fox' at the moment 😂 But watch this space because it might be relevant in the next episode...or two...depending on how quickly I can finish it!

Needles, you were TALKING about needles. I have watched your review of needles and based on that, had bought Piecemakers and Bohin. Was just going to get the former but they weren't available initially so got Bohin. I think they were your top two? Well, my second project which is nearly finished, is a kit and they use JJ. I think JJ came down the line in your review. It's been fine, well I thought. Recently, I've been getting split or broken threads and I could feel the eye feeling rough. I do remember you talking about the eyes getting burrs at times. Last night, I finally remembered about changing needles as it was splitting again. I chose the Piecemakers. OMG. A game changer!!! It GLIDES through the holes like silk! I am not finding that it pierces the fabric at times as the JJ did even when new. I FIND the hole more easily (working on black aida). I stitched til midnight last night as I couldn't stop it was so smooth .... So no more JJ - I had no choice in that one though but if I get another kit, I will use my own needles. It is about 1mm shorter too and I find that is better for me too.
So, thanks to your wonderful videos, I knew which to get and why and it's all just fabulous 😁😁😁💞💞💜💜

It makes my day to think that my videos could help you find such a game changer 😊 It was so funny that you just wanted to keep on stitching with the Piecemaker needle...I bet you got loads done! I definitely avoid kit needles; they go straight in the bin and I use my own as it's not worth the hassle of struggling with a rubbish needle. It's crazy how much finding the best needle for you can change your stitching experience bit it really does and I'm so happy you are enjoying the Piecemakers 😄

Emma Congden pieces are just so pretty and I always find them really nice to stitch as well. I especially love her typography. That's fun that we can both be stitching pieces by her at the same time 😄
Lovely progress on Gaia, I need to resist buying her as I still have a couple of miras to stitch plus all my other kits 😂talking about needleminders, I have to find the cotton cottage as they look awesome x
Thank you, and I really loved how much Gaia progress I had 😄 It's very easy to get carried away with all the fancy ladies 😂 I have yet to do a Mira...one day I will do it! The Cotton Cottage have a lot of very cute needle minders...I could definitely have bought more. I did want to check the magnet was a good strength and that they were good quality before I bought more, and I am happy to say they are fabulous to use so definitely recommend them 😄

Really enjoyed this FlossTube episode. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful stitching! Just wondering if you would maybe consider making a tutorial/tips video on designing patterns? I love drawing and would love to learn how to create patterns. I think it would be a really interesting video to see the process 😊🩷
Thank you 😊 I have definitely considered making a video about designing but it's a pretty tricky topic as I only really know the software I use and it is a paid for software. But I am sure a lot of people would find it useful so maybe I can cook up something about the process even if I can't cover all the software options. Thanks for the suggestion!

Talking about gold needles, I have NEVER managed to get the cross stitch guild ones to wear away! Other needles, the gold plating has worn off quite quickly.
Wow, that's amazing...but you are not the first person to say the gold has never worn off the Cross Stitch Guild needles! I am really excited to get into some proper testing; it's fascinating to me!
I don't mind using blended threads. I've done Teresa Wentzler patterns with load of them.

I'll be interested to hear you talking about the gold needles. I've always found that they drag against the fabric more than the stainless ones.
I am really getting into this topic, especially as you are now the third or fourth person to say they find they drag more against the fabric, which I have also found with some but not all gold needles. I have a theory but need some evidence so watch this space!
If you’re talking, I’m listening! Personally, gold needles are a total waste of money for me. I think it’s my body chemistry, but the gold never lasts past a week of stitching. I even wear the stainless steel and/or nickel plating off of my needles after a month. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m interested to see what your results will be.
Ooof, that's rough with the coatings coming off needles so easily for you...I think you are right that it's just body chemistry but it must be super frustrating. I am really taking a deep dive into this gold needle thing; it has me intrigued!

I have recently stitched this if you use GA red thread you will need more than one skein. Also there is very limited variation in the red thread . With hindsight I would have just stuck with the dmc.
That's really helpful info about the GA thread, thank you. I am wondering about choosing a different Christmassy red with variegation...in fact there is a dark-ish red variegated DMC thread that might work really well...I'll keep you posted!
Talking about plans; maybe I should join you and your mum and get a start on the gin-piece in July? Bought the pattern from you some time ago, and have a plan for who the recipient will be and when, but that’s two years from now… 😂😊

Hello, new subscriber here. While listening to you talking about your WIPS, I noticed that you sometimes stitch from the bottom up. Do you have a tutorial on how this is done. I always start from the top lest, but I have a mirabilia that I'm thinking about starting in the middle, which would be a first for me. Thank you!

But if that makes me a bit nervous with the counting then I might start bottom middle and I mention that in the video too.
