Forgot about the Ship of Fools! That was the first Wetherspoons to close in and around central Croydon. Croydon council and Westfield have a lot to answer for, for closing businesses and failing to build a new shopping centre. It's a shame.
Some familiar places still there from my brief time in the '90s. Dog and Bull pub in Surrey Street was a favourite for a pint of Ram Spesh after being in Beanos record store all day (sadly closed long ago). Glad to see it still there. The main drag towards North End looks a bit forlorn with all the hoardings up but it still has all you need without going to London. Could be worse - you could be living in Sutton or Redhill.
