21:43 ..Hi guys, I'd just like to put in my tuppence worth on what the "pick" object actually is. (I live in Greece and we have the same items on old barns here as well). That wasn't a pick as such but one of two things. Most likely and considering the age of the barn, that "pick" was actually a torch holder. The pick part would have actually been anchored into the wall and a wooden torch would have been placed through the ring, for lighting (let's not forget there was no electricity, especially back then). The second option is, that it was, again , anchored into the wall, with the ring being somewhere you would tie a latch for the barn door to be kept open. *GREAT VLOG AS ALWAYS! :)*
As I keep saying, you guys are something else! I've never seen such hard workers in a couple your age! I can hardly wait to see the finished product, but it's also a wonderful journey watching you get there! I do hope you will use that lock somewhere in your house, maybe on your front door, or maybe on a piece of furniture? I think it's a wonderful find and definitely should be used somewhere, even if in a decorative non-working manner! I wish I could be there to cook for you and supply some nice cool lemonade while you're doing all that work. However, I'm a long way off in the States! My prayers are with you both! You're such a fine couple! I'm adopting you both as "grandchildren"! LOL
So much fun watching the barn project come together! I must say your plans for the veranda are brilliant. It will be a sanctuary you will enjoy no matter the season. Thank you for allowing us to follow along especially during this global pandemic. Things can be depressing these days and you both bring a positive and inspiring respite from the doom and gloom. Greetings and best wishes from the smoky mountains of Tennessee!!
I reckon you were the real winners of that Alaska challenge, You have the weather, you don't have to wait a month for supplies, you can grow your own veg n fruit no need to carry a gun, your not too far from family etc etc....
That lake looks amazing you have inspired us to look at travelling to the Arctic circle it's our 10yr plan we are both early 50s I'm in a wheelchair but that's not going to stop us
Happy birthday Theo. I'm blown away by Kevin's wall, the man is an artist,it looks a thing of beauty and like it has been there for time immemorial. I am amazed those guys don't have hands like navvies, they don't wear gloves and those stones are rough. It's all getting to come together but such a labour of love,it will be awesome when all finished, can't wait as I'm thoroughly enjoying your videos. The Hens are fantastic I love their fluffy feet and yes they are fun to watch,I would love Hens but we have nasty neighbours,so Hens are a no no. I love their names, just perfect. We have several Pigeons among the birds we feed in our gardens, they are Gladys,Mavis, and my fave girl is Gertrude.
I’m so happy when I see the little bell and look to see who has posted and it’s YOU!! I so enjoy y’all’s excitement and enthusiasm as you work so hard on your beautiful little barn. My only wish is that you posted more and longer videos! I know it must take a lot of time to edit what you have but it’s so much fun watching y’all. I can’t help but wish!! ❤️ Theo, I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Hello from Ohio, USA 🇺🇸 We so enjoy your videos! The wall workmanship was top-notch and loved seeing the chickens! Happy Belated Birthday, Theo, and know the life journey the two of you are on is enriching other people’s lives!👏🏻💞👍🏻
I love your channel, u two are a delight and all your pursuits and adventures make wonderful viewing. I lived on boats,, trailers and vans for 20 yrs, recently moved into bricks and mortar and love escapism of watching you lovely human beans and of course GingeyBear and now the Girls too, chickens are amazing company . Miles of Smiles 🌲🌞🌲💚🌞🏵️🌲
You have such a wonderful relationship It’s obvious that you two are in sync with each other Cherish and keep sharing your dreams You are going to have a wonderful full filling life together Take care 💕💕
My grandfather (dad's dad) was born & raised in Edinburgh Scotland, and when I hear soft lyrical scottish brogue accent, it's like music to my ears & a balm for my soul. Lovely. Good work.
Love the wall! I find myself wishing I could skip to the end to see the finished product, but of course going along on the journey and seeing all of your hard work makes it that much more exciting to see how it turns out! Thank you for bringing us along! I’d love to see the town where you get groceries, pizza, etc.... The snake in the lake would have freaked me out!!
Literally never want your videos to end, just loving this build! Fast forward can see you both sitting under your beautiful finished verandah covered in beaugonvillia. Those artefacts you’ve found would look great mounted in a glass frame to hang in the barn, something to remind you of all the back breaking work it took to renovate, awesome guys thank you 👍🧡
The pick type piece you found would have come with handle on it about 30-60 cm long. The curve of the blade would have been pointed down and slightly back on the tip, and the tip sharpened. They are called Pickeroons, and are used to move fairly large wood pieces around. So you would hold the handle with the tip down, swing down and drive the tip about 1-2 cm into the wood then you could pull it to where you wanted it. Or just move it out of the way. We used them a lot in Sawmills here in the US to help sort out lumber. I used it at home to help sort and stack firewood for winter.
Hope you had a Happy Birthday, Theo! Socks and sandals are the symbol of a very confident man!! 🤗 The wall looks amazing! What fabulous workmanship, how lucky you are to have such quality artisans at hand! Can't wait to see what's next. See ya next time. 🙌👍
I discovered you about two weeks ago. I have been binge watching your videos to catch up. I love the progress you are making with the barn. I look forward to your next video. Keep up the good work and drink lots of water.
How marvelous! It really is going to be so lovely! And you'll value it for its beauty & for knowing how very much work you put in. Thank goodness for the lake! So well deserved. I cant wait to see you both sitting in the shade enjoying the view and a delightfully cold drink! Although you may be bundled up enjoying winter chill & a hot drink before its finished.
You can keep your massive Grand Design type homes. This simple small home with the land is my idea of a Grand Design. I can already picture the beatiful cosy home you'll end up with.
Socks with sandals, that's the Northwestern US style. Theo will fit right in when visiting Washington State. Amazing progress on your little rock house. Happy belated birthday Theo!
Oh my gosh, it does look like it has always been there. Your helpers really know what they are doing. What a team you three are. The coop looks awesome.
Hello from Yuma Arizona, US. I hear ya in the heat. If you keep a pale if water handy and pour it over your head ( keep your hair wet), and wet your shirt down, it makes a huge difference. I also came to understand about siestas with working early, break in the afternoon and back at it again about 5 pm. We have extreme heat here 115 to 120 F and still 100 at midnight, yuk! But the water (wet shirt) is a life saver. Suggestion for the concrete roofing may be a cute picket fence to go along with your stone barn or lay them on the top surface of the veranda floor in a sunburst pattern or whatever catches your fancy. Belated happy birthday Theo! We need a quick shot of Ginjey each episode, was worried she has not been around to do inspection on the wall project. I hope to see her paw print 🐾 of approval in the mortar...lol Stay safe and enjoy the journey. Much love to you all.
Well it is such hard work in the heat Our home is over 100 years old it used to be a railway cottage where they bought there ticket before they went on the train its 40 years since we were renovating it the dry dust reminded me and carefully removing the stones I can still feel the dust in my nostrils but we created a lovely home best of luck keep plenty Factor 50 on you both Bea Theo
This is not meant to be critical, but helpful. When the sun is behind you, especially over your shoulder, it is glaring in our eyes. We can't see you. Happy birthday,
This harkens me back to the labor of love projects I used to do in my younger, stronger, and much sprier days. Happy for you hard working folks one and all. Heartwarming to watch such positive collaboration in contrast to the negativity on too many other channels these days.Thankyou! Happy Birthday, Theo!
with all the violence and rioting going on in the US, it is so refreshing to watch your latest video and pretend I am there with you! Happy Belated Birthday Theo!!
so awesome....so proud and happy for you both.....cannot wait to see everything done....think you stone barn is lovely....gingy bear is adorable.......love your project.
Hello my dears! (including Ginjee, of course!) Absolutely fudging spectacular vlog! Amazing to see how 'the boys' have made such a wonderful wall! Belated love and best wishes, Theo, on your birthday 👏 Bloody incredible!👍🏻👍🏻😘😘😘❤
Happy birthday Theo! I love your videos guys, you are so blessed to have a beautiful lake nearby. You both have such amazing energy, and watching you vlogs is really uplifting! xoxo =)
You must be so happy that's it is slowly coming together, your dream is materializing, it's all very exciting. You seem such a lovely couple I wish you both all the happiness in the world. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗. Am really enjoying watching each week to see what else has been happening, it's lovely to see how passionate you both are, and that your living the dream. X
Good luck, we are watching every week and waiting for sunday in anxiety for each episode. Me and my husband love your renovation and your way of taking this project, wish i was in my country, but i will be back to Portugal one of these days, cause now i live in your country ah ah have a good week guys
The picky thing with a hole in the end looks like an old candle holder. Pick end goes into a wall, candle goes into the hole. We are loving the barn renovations. I love it that you have managed to find a Scottish stone mason in Portugal.
Hi guys, you are doing so well especially in the heat, it is lovely you have that lake nearby to refresh yourselves your own private lake :) your wall looks amazing, so much work and so worth it, have a great week thank you for sharing, take care.
I think the pick thing might actually be a farm gate hinge. The hinge spikes would have been set into a stone wall and the gate would have had pins that fitted into the circular bit.
Congratulations on your wonderful project! Just come to know your channel days ago and I'm fascinated with it. I'm Portuguese and I'm delighted that you choose Portugal as home. All the best, Happy birthday Theo!
Happy birthday 🎂 Theo.. The work that's going into building your beautiful tiny home, real craftsmanship. You must feel the happiest people on the planet, loving the chickens so cute xxxxx 😘
Greetings from Austin Texas! Thank you so much for your videos, they are all so lovely and truly a highlight of my week watching you guys set your mind to projects and working so hard to finish them. Stone work is proper hard work. Tried it out for a couple of years in the 80's...and I don't lie, I fall asleep in the shower after the first day. But as time went on, it was a lot of fun. Hi Theo and Bee - another awesome video and wow it's looking amazing. Can't wait to see more. Must be hard working in that heat but the lake looks like a fab place for a break - Chris & Marianne x
I'm having to move some heavy long bricks of granite from one yard to another after bringing them home from a Granite Falls church about 20 years ago. Oof! They aren't going farther than front space between sidewalk and rockery here. I have such HUGE RESPECT for what you are doing like so many before you. OMG. Happy Birthday Theo. You've earned it, Cheers to you both and Gingie Bear. Snakes in the water kept me out of the pond.😆✌️socks and sandles is a PNW thing. Pacific North West.

ASMR stone wall building. So satisfying. It would be great if you could have a little interview with your builders. They have some mad skills.
That wall looks so good! I can't wait to see it leveled out with gravel. I'm so impressed with how much rubble is being reused for this build.
The retaining wall looks SO GOOD!
