Yes, a very important comment! I had a cheap wireless lav that suffered the exact same problem and it was too easy to have reverb/noise cancellation switched on accidentally. I count that as a major fault that will trip you up when you least expect it! I'm surprised Ulanzi didn't make it more difficult to select noise cancellation etc. They make such good quality products.

Actually yoy can buy an usb adaptor for notebook and it will work just fine, I've been using it like this for meetings.

Nice review. It's time for filmmakers to admit that smartphones are an excellent tool for making videos. I was looking for a wireless solution with a Lightning connector to use with an iPhone on a DJI Osmo Mobile gimbal and came across this product.
Just for kicks, the company's name is 优篮子 in Chinese (優藍子 in traditional characters), which mean's "excellent basket." I won't bother trying to give a tutorial on pronunciation here, but thought I'd offer that bit of trivia. And by the way, "Godox" is an even more hilarious name, coming from the Chinese 神牛, which literally means "holy cow" or "sacred cow."

Thanks for the review! I'm a big fan of Ulanzi products (and because I live in China, they're a lot cheaper here)!!! When set up, it sounds great.
I don't have their wireless lav, but use a wired PurplePanda lav.
Before I bought the PurplePanda, I bought a cheap wireless lav, and it appears that the Ulanzi suffers from 2 of the same problems:
1. You have to enlarge the Lightning port hole in your case, as you mentioned.
2. It's too easy to have noise reduction/reverb selected accidentally. The last bit of your pier demo suffered from this, and the last section of the review demonstrated that it was too hard to make sure that the default quality setting was chosen. Each time you changed it, in selected a different noise cancellation mode and NEVER went back to the standard mode. Just the same problem as my cheap lav. With my PurplePanda, there is only one setting so no chance of accidentally choosing the wrong setting.
Yea, totally agree. BUT, it is a cheap lav, unlike my $900 Senheisser wireless setup. I think they can do better though. Maybe like an indicator light for each setting, or something...anything would be good. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻

Just food for thought. If your case prevents you from plugging the receiver in and you don't want to or can't modify the case, there are two easy options.
There is a lightning male to female extension and there is a lightning male to female cable.
The extension is the easiest option BUT it has the potential to cause a big problem if you drop your phone since it adds leverage against the port.
The cable avoids that problem but then your receiver is hanging from the phone by the cable. That in itself isn't technically a problem but it's not as neat and compact.

Great review, Tony! Do you think this would work for recording music? If I clipped one mic on me, and one on my Spark amplifier, would that sound halfway decent, compared to just using my phone?
That is one of the examples they show in one of their promo videos, but it's clipped to the sound hole on an acoustic. I haven't tried it in that manner yet, but it's not going to be the BEST quality...like a dedicated and wired mic would give...but it'd definitely be good enough for demo work and what-not. @@VaporTrailChannel Not the S22 mics. Try to trcord music played through a good set of speakers. Not very good sound but if wanting intelligible sound in noisy environments it's ok.

You know...I'm not quite sure about that. But yes...that is a big bummer. If your case is a softer material, you can just trim it up if you're using the mic a lot. Or like my new Apple case for iPhone 14 pro where there whole bottom is basically open, it would be fine. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻
Great quality for price. But question; There is a lightning port at the end part of the receiver, is it the audio output?
I’m pretty sure that’s so you can plug 🔌 your phone in to charge while the receiver is plugged into the lightning port. Website doesn’t indicate mic, but you might try it? A lightning to mini jack adapter might make that work. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻
Those kind of mics are primary intended to be used indoors since I have not found any wind fur to them.
Yeah, I would agree primarily indoors. However, most people are looking for something to use doing walk and talk type things outside, and it works fine for that. I think the point is that it’s a whole lot less expensive than my $600 Sennheiser wireless. That’s why I like to test them and whatever conditions I can so that people get a good understanding of what they’re all about. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻

I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max and (a small rig cage) around it will that work with the cage when you stick it in or is it gonna be too short
That may be a problem. The SmallRig cages add considerable thickness at the plug area. Hard to say though as I no longer have my cage (it was for a previous version of the phone). Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻

How do you know when the case is fully charged? How do you know when each mic is fully charged? How do you know which mic has the highest percentage of charge?

Wish I could use headphones to monitor the audio. I also wonder about phasing issues if 2 people are too close while talking.

Accordion mics are cumbersome, expensive, and a pia at best. With one mic on bass side and the other on the melody side, could I in effect run it all to a Bluetooth fishman acoustic amp?
That’s a very good question actually. Because these are meant for a phone, it may not work like that. The receiver plugs into USB C or iPhone lightning port. Feeds the audio through the receiver into that port. So…maybe if the amp has USB and can receive audio through it, it might work. But you may want to look for a more robust / purpose driven solution. It works with any iPhone app, including the stock iPhone camera app. It basically takes over for the iPhone microphone

What I don't get is how is this mic loud here but, when I bought it, connected it to my Iphone 8 and used the Filmic Pro 3rd party camera app and the sound was low as hell, then I switched to the native camera app and the result was the same. Is there something reviewers aren't telling us about this phone? why is my levels so low?
Hard to say man! I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro, so maybe that has something to do with it? Also, most editing software can bring up the audio if it’s less than expected. I can’t remember, but I don’t think that I had to do that for this video. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻

I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Back sound on TikTok? Do you mean you want to edit out background music? If that’s the case, the answer is probably that you cannot. Unless each piece of audio is on a separate track, that’s not possible

Can't seem to get it to work on moto g9 android 11. Have red light on bottom of phone and green on lab but keeps saying can open with different voice recorders???
Yikes! Yea, I’m not an android person, so I can’t really answer that. But if you go to their site, they do have a chat 💬 feature. Keep in mind that they’re in China, so 13 hours ahead of the east coast. Hope ya get it working!

Have you experienced one mic is significantly louder than the other? I’ve tried resets, turning noise reduction and reverb off. Still one mic is louder than the other

Charging ideas in detail please
Charging? Simply plug the case in, and if the mics are inside they will charge. And if they aren’t, once the case is charged, you can just drop them in and they’ll start charging. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻

I can easily get 2-3 hours from it.
Oh, and if you have the case with you and are only using one mic (2 in the case), you can drop the spent one in the case and grab the other while the spent one gets charged. You can really get a lot of life from it.

My audio is terrible. Sounds very quiet and muffled. very disheartening to get this out of the box and experience this terrible sound experience.
Have iPhone 11. Sounds nothing like the clear loud audio you have. Did you turn up the volume in your editing?
This was an iPhone 12 Pro, but I doubt that makes a difference. I didn’t EQ it or anything but, as with any mic, I may’ve raised the volume a bit in Final Cut to match anything else I added, and to keep it consistent with the volume of all of my videos. With is right before it gets into the red. Same with if I use a Sennheiser that costs $1k…sometimes, depending on what device I use those mics on, it may need to adjust the audio track. The rest is straight from the mic
