- At 04.12 in the evening, the crater collapsed towards the back, and sent all the lava flooding down into the "back" of the crater.
I only missed the first 3-4 seconds of the collapse.
That is so impressive! What a shot, from just the right distance and direction. And the noise! Really shows the power of these events.
Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
That was incredible footage of the cone wall collapsed! 👍
Those are some excellent shots. Thank you for staying up all night just in case something interesting happens.
Wow, right place right time. Spectacular. Thank you for posting. Great footage
Sunrise and sparkle-lava! Just spectacular. Thank you for this amazing footage.
That's really impressive. I saw this on the official fixed camera, but this is the first drone video. Nice job, very fortuitous timing.
Wow. Just wow! A good example of why it is important to stay a safe distance away from the cone.
The greatest show on earth, at the moment.
This is one of the most impressive collapses that have occured in the last few years with this chain of eruptions, and you caught most of it with a drone...fantastic to see, thankyou for sharing it!
They just don't make lava crater walls like they used to... ;-) Beautiful scene here! Thanks for sharing.
you were in the right place at the right time. thanks for this video it's awesome ❤
🌋WOW ♥️your best drone camera, ♥️your best recording of the greatest show on 🌎earth, was mind blowing amazing but in the other cameras the lava was too bright!!!
great perspective. so glad you were flying and recording this spot when it happened. even more glad you shared it with all.
Thanks for the different, spectacular view of the collapse. This clearly shows why you never get close to a volcano. There was no chance to outrun that initial lava flow from the collapse. I remember someone from the eruption a couple years ago was climbing the actual cone of the volcano on one of the live cams.
He was very lucky
I had a crater-collapse once during a bus ride to work. All I can say is, never eat cold pizza in the morning that's been sitting out all night before getting on a bus for an hour.
Amazing, you ARE the man! You were the first on site right? I saw your live stream from the fissure opening. Wow you're either the luckiest volcano watcher in Iceland or very committed to spending hours and hours up there. 4am! That is hard core, we are very thankful you got some footage of this, a shame you missed the build up to the collapse but we can't have everything!
Haha thanks man! Yeah, we're a dedicated group that have been stalking this cano a LOT!
The first fissure opening, and now this - is so crazy to get on video! But very happy that people enjoy the footage!
@@urrissThis is amazing footage. I missed this stream that day, but I still saw the collapse on the other streams. I had just woken up and wanted to check if there had been any events when I opened up one stream when that section collapsed. Well that's one way to wake up, right?
Danke, dass du keine Musik benutzt hast, der Originalton ist beeindruckend, genau wie die Bilder! Großartiges Dokument 👍
This HAS to be the best footage i`ve seen to date of this collapse. Well done sir.
Wow, thank you! 🙏😊
was hoping someone got a good video of this. The livestream was of low quality
Thank you for a spectacular view and also thank you for NOT ruining this footage with pointless sound affects or music. ❤
The way it just gushed out of there and covered the entire area in about 30 seconds is really quite scary. Makes you remember that lava is a liquid and can move just as quickly as water when it's not restricted to a set path, like most lava flows are.
Ya, when I saw that rushing lava spread out like that I freaked! That would be horrible if people were close to it at that moment. Spreading faster than you could run. It aint safe to be within 100 yards of these things. unreal
@@leechild4655 100 yard' is still to close.
It's only sometimes comparable in speed to water, composition ad temperature are very important to it's behavior.
@thebanned2807 Interesting.... I guess it's bacause it does not undergo a phase change.
Similar to why glass is considered a liquid and not a solid.
Carbon tax volcanos 😂
Impressive. I could see another crack developing yesterday, but never expected this.
Nature never ceases to amaze me- Absolutely Beautiful!

Congratulations! You got the best footage of this stunning event. It is great to be able to see the floods of lava from above. It sure was lucky that nobody was killed by fast-flowing lava.
WOW @ safely watching this video from N. California. This is just incredible. Drones rock. Thank you. Stay safe.
This is so awesome. Watched it last night on afar cam. Be proud that you got this angle!! Excellent and THANK YOU!!🏅Saved and subscribed 👍
many thanks for this awesome night video in these terrible area what courage and talent !
Great catch! We can only get an idea of the magnitude from a drone, the crater is probably over 30m high, so that is a lot of lava. It also shows why you should not get too close to the cone: Running across a broken surface to get away from it would not be easy!
Amazing footage. Thank you for staying with the shot for so long
You nailed it. The post processing was excellent. I just happened to go into the kitchen and missed the collapse. I’ll check out your other videos. Thanks
this is absolutely amazing, thanks for sharing these shots!! I would love to have a better sense of scale when looking at volcano images like these, becaus I often can't wrap my head arround the sheer measures of what I see - do you have any tips/orientation on that?
Hi there! You can actually see a dirt road in the video, that the lava is flooding over. Look to the left in the video, there is a slim light line. That is a dirt road, approximately 2,5 - 3 meters wide maybe?
@@urriss great, thats the hint I was looking for
Excellent catch friend, You hit the jackpot!!!
It's stunningly beautiful 🌈🍀💚☘️🇮🇪 much love from Ireland 🧚
Fantastic footage, thx 🌷
It still slightly boggles my mind to think that's literally liquid rock. The amount of heat is insane. I'd to see how lava looks on an infrared camera(specifically NIR, not thermal). It should be much brighter than the red-orange light we can see.
One of the best footage to come from this eruption for sure!
Opino lo mismo, Después de haber visto unas cuantas filmaciones, las imágenes nítidas que nos ofrece me parecen extraordinarias... Una pena que no se escuche el sonido más cercano, a mí me encanta... Unsaludo...
Remember how close people were getting last eruption. I’m glad they weren’t allowed to do that again
So glad there's drone footage of this ! 😁
Amazing capture, great job!
Good timing and great footage. That's the highlight of this volcano season so far as of July 20th.
Wow! This grew so fast.
I'm happy if no one gets hurt or dies. God bless the people.
As an artist, I have everything I need to paint the beautiful glittering golds and reds.
Awesome video and thanks for recording history.
Never underestimate the magnificent power of "Mother Earth".
We are just mere mortals in comparison to this and the many other catastrophes happening around the globe.
Also, no one can stop the many other things coming on our horizon.
It is all part of a cyclical procession and change happening in our universe.
Blessings to all, stay safe and aware, help one another, no fear, and eyes to the skies.
fantastic video man! Perfect composition and exposition! thanks a lot for sharing!
Simply stunning.
That sparkling lava is so pretty
Wow!
Lava Sparkles !! 0:25 Never seen anything like that sparkling 😁
Molton's pseudopodia - spectacular!
So beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing this! ❤🇺🇸🫶🏻
Magnificent view of forces of Nature. I know it would be exciting to be there, but I am content to watch from the comfort and safety of my patio.
Right place. Right time! 👏
Awesome footage! What drone are you using?
Thank you! It's a Dji Mavic 3 Classic.
Wow, what perfect timing! Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
That's quite the "money" shot of that eruption! 😲
Stunning footage. I can only imagine seeing such a spectacular event in person.
This is exactly why you don't stand right next to an active crater. Tourists take note.
Frábært myndband 👍🌋
Þetta er áhrifamikið að sjá.
I knew that was bound to happen. The crater walls were getting super steep.
What an amazing capture, absolutely incredible!! 👏👏 How were you able to capture the sound with your drone??
Great angle thnx for the upload!
Awsome vid,Thanks!!
Lava outlet got too high as well as lava output temporarily increase resulting in wall collapse due to increased pressure on wall from lava lake
you did well to capture this from the above angle, kudos to you
This was the pick of eruption in temperature, eruption could potentially end in 2. Or 3. August. But depends how big are this beneath magma flows.
Beautiful shot with the sunset. Great capture.
I think I saw your drone fly by in Afar TV feed
Awesome shot bud
Parabéns, imagens fantásticas.
That stuff is 3,200 degrees. Everything that can move gets out of its way! Melted rock.
Fantastic view of this event. Thank you.
Dude what an angle you got there
Wowowowowow!!!
The reflection looks like those long shots of open sea with sunlight reflecting off the waves... except it's f***ing lava!!!
Wow, so stunning, what a sight, thank you for sharing this video.
And exactly that, my friends, is why you should not stand too close to a fresh volcano cone.
So exhilarating to see Mother Nature doing her lava dance!!
This is just stunningly beautiful in all its power!
This is exactly why nobody should be near an erupting vent. You never know what could happen next. The only thing predictable about a volcano, is that it is unpredictable.
thank you
deep sound this eruption is amazing . close your eyes and listen sounds so different from others... oml what an amazing thing watching hearing land creation omd thank you amazed newZealand.
BEAUTIFUL !
Look at this and then go look at Yellowstone caldera on Google maps. The lava flows from Yellowstone span way up into Alaska and Canada
And its looks just like this but cooled and plantlife growing out of it. When it blows the planet will definitely shake
It's quite big. I wonder if it's going to 10 000 times in size.
No lavalantulas?
As beautiful as anything Nature does.
Great footage.
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE NUMBER OF DRONE VIDEOS USING THESE GENERIC AUDIO LOOPS.
Thank you! But there's no generic looped audio here... I recorded it myself that same night, I have over 2 hours of audio from that day only. I don't think you want drone audio in the video?
What is the size of the area that lava traveled around from the back? I just can't quite visualize how big this is or how much lava.
The cone itself is about 80 meters long and about 35 meters wide.
It’s full of stars
Imagine if like previous eruptions some numptie s had gotten too close and had to attempt to out run that.
the sounds!! amazing!
Absolutely amazing!
Absolutely beautiful! 😍
Whoa!! Are those lights from a village ??
Good timing!
Just WOW! An amazing sight. Well done you 👍
I like the fire bubbles.
Wow, stay safe everyone
Can anyone give a measurement how big is this crater ?😅
Very hard to tell where the collapse is.
However, I did see a small piece in the rear side fall and that might have affected the flow direction.
On the other hand. I'm not sure what I saw, nice shot though.
I'm still amazed how many cameras and drones were set and ready to capture the collapse at 4:11 in the morning haha
