I used to play with Venkatesh when he was around 8-10 years of age here in club cricket in Indore. He probably doesn’t even remember me but it feels so good to see him performing well and being recognized. Playing at the highest level has been dream for millions of kids in India and see him doing what all of us wanted to do makes me proud. Go for it Venky. Best wishes!

@@MannanGoel i wo'nt say the same role. hardik is a lower order hitter, whereas iyer is an opener. but yeah, india will do anything to accomodate a seam bowling all rounder. even if that means dropping an opener.

@@abhyudaysaraogi3155 They will never do that. But Star realises they need something fresh too, hence Dosts (Which is also quite silly in parts but its unconventional). TGC style IPL commentary / banter also has significant appeal I feel.
@@nirvanalaha1482 True, but honestly star sports has lacked a good hosting panel since forever (I'm just 22, so I'll be counting the last 12 years as forever XD).
While the hosts at Sony went on to become household names like Gaurav, Sameer, Shibani, and Archana; Star has always had just Mayanti Langer.
All of their other hosts seem unable to actually give good cricketing opinions of their own and rely too much on the 'Pundits', even Jatin Sapru.
I wish Star Sports realizes what the people want, and realizes it fast.
This was such a brilliant interview. That part about having Iyer ask Dada as to why he bowled first in the world cup final had in absolute splits.
