The last synth I purchased was a Roland D-70 in 1990. Technology has changed so much. Thanks. I'm keen to get back into music performance before my peers all shuffle off this planet. Might consider this Nord Stage 4 as an entry point
All the stuff but the Synth engine is easy. I’m an NS3 owner, and still am trying to maximize the capabilities out of such a board. I’ve heard many other Nords, but people just load up the 1st piano that comes already on the nord, which makes me somewhat annoyed and mad. That board can do so much more than just one loaded up piano sound, and people don’t take advantage of it.
Thank you so much for these helpful videos. Especially for the new starters. To be honest I’m so confused and it will take a while to handle all these great features. A question; is there a video to teach how to create our own set ups, setting own programs both on blank pages and live feature?
Hi Douglas. May I say how much I appreciate your videos, so much content delivered in a very friendly and informative way. I have a question which relates to Bank A11 of the Stage 4. I have discovered that, although the B3 sound is meant to be active in the NS4 Pallette sound patch, the organ does not make any sound. Is there a simple explanation for this? I have been pulling my hair out trying to understand why this is. Thank you for your patience.
First thank you for the tutorials, great quality and very helpful. You mentioned that you can set up some Banks, Pages and Programs and lay them out for a concert so you can use the Program buttons (1-8) or the triple pedal. How do you do that? Thanks again for the help. Best regards.
Do you offer Nord consulting? Our church just bought one and we are trying to dumb it down for a few of our accompianists (for our traditional services). Just turn it on and there are simple organ and piano sounds saved and easily accessible.
Thanks for the tutorial! I purchased your worship pads for Nord 4 and they work really well. Are you able to tell me how I can assign volume control using the wheel for synths? Like what you did with a few of your previous programs and synths?
I think, it’s the same procedure like on the A1 synth, maybe I’m wrong … but, I think you can dubble tap the morph button and then choose your source that you want … like turning the volume knob for example … setting the amount . I don’t have the NS4 but most of the functionality are almost the same I guess. I Like the sound very much but this one is now very expensive … (also a standard pedal is an accessory ) on the other hand … I you want a real instrument… 😊
One thing I have learned from the Nord is if you want actually professional quality, always try to get stereo out. I fell to this hole when my church had been in mono, and I had kept my board mono at home, and it was terrible sounding. Yamahas sound so much better in mono compared to Nord. Kind of surprised that Nord still does 1/4 inch outs to this day, rather than xlr outs.
@@svenk.4102 Oh actually? Did not know that. I know the CP does, so I had assumed Yamaha had kept the xlr-outs. Lot of churches nowadays are going to that board, but even still, never was a fan of the shape of the montage. I mean it an awesome synthesizer, but still, kind of looks weird. Interesting, thanks for the info!
Thanks a lot for the comprehensive and helpful overview, I really appreciate your tutorial videos on the Stage 4. One quick question: Is your Stage 4 producing a silent but constant humming noise when turned on, probably coming from the power supply? Mine does it and I’m curious whether this is normal or not. Thanks a lot 😊
Thank you for these really excellent videos. Prior to buying my own Stage 4 I find them a lot more helpful and fun for swatting up on than always wading through a paper user manual . I’m just wondering, in the organ section, does having 2 layers allow for having drawbars with Leslie in one layer and dry drawbars or dry percussion in layer 2, or even different octaves between the 2 layers ?
Thanks! The Leslie effect applies to both A & B layers, but your drawbars, octave settings, and percussion settings are unique per layer. Hope that helps!
Press the Save button, then press the Live Mode button, then press the Live Mode program button you want to save it to before pressing the Save button one last time.
Nord stage 4 is way too costly. I’m going for the yahama yc88, the c7 on the Yahama sounds better to me then the c7 on the nord, and it makes you wonder why the nord stage line up won’t do wooden keys and won’t put on a midi thru jack do you can add to the build

Thanks! First-time Nord guy here with a Stage 4. This is very helpful to wrap my mind around this beast!

Thank you , I own a stage 4 and you , yet again have helped enormously
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Great Video Douglas ! Very Helpful information ! Blessings to you !
Oh man...what an intro! You are simply amazing! Love your videos man!
Great Tutorial. Nord Stage is a beast! I would like to see more synth presets for the preset library. The preset library is such a great tool!
Nice playing on your part! Thanks for the video!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!

VA Synth section tutorial please 😉👍
Great video. But can you make something about the synth engine? How to make new synth presets?
Thanks! Great video! your pianos sound amazing! what effects do you usually use?
Thanks! Most of the time I use a simple Stage reverb, but if I want something heavier, I’ll use a little cloud reverb (Cathedral Chorale)

Hey, thank you! I’ll be doing a video on it soon, but you can use the Morph Assign feature to do this.

The new yamaha montage m has also no xlr outputs.
