I love that you had this catalog! Sure brought back memories. We had a family owned and operated Western Auto in the town where I grew up. The couple had 12 kids and all of the family worked the store, age appropriate. Then the husband was out doing his daily jogging one morning and had a great attack and died. The wife was pregnant with twins bringing the total in their family to 14. She continued to run that store with the older kids by her side while some stayed home to watch the younger ones. It was a tough life but many of those kids grew up to become a doctor, a lawyer and an FBI agent to name a few. Pretty great family business that Western Auto!
Wonderful collage! You gave me a chuckle today watching and listening to you choose your gift for yourself as a 10 yr. old! Yes, I'm not sure I would have wanted a typewriter either at 10 but I would love one now as well! Good choice!
You are taking me back here! I remember Western Auto, and I didn’t have the 7-Up machine, but I did have the Coke dispensing machine. I was the hit of the neighborhood with that thing, I can tell you.
Darlene here. As far back as I can remember, I don't recall wanting toys. In my adolescence, I wanted a bike. I was a reader from my earliest years so anything to read would have been my desire. But that catalog would have thrilled me; certainly does now. Haven't thought of Western Auto in ages. Wow! Collages are good for making one think, aren't they? Thanks much for sharing, Margarete. Merry Christmas. Stay well. :)
Wow! So many memories were brought back when you mentioned the Easy Bake Oven!! I just ordered this collage book, I'm late to the game but that's OK!! 💕
I remember those stores. They were fun to browse in. Such a variety. Your collage turned out so nice. I don't always know when to stop. Your videos are a great help. 🌲🖌🎄
This 10 year old didn't have an Easy Bake Oven, wasn't into Barbies, and played with her mother's 1950s manual typewriter, so I wholeheartedly support your choice! In fact, I wish I had that typewriter now.
Great collage...LOVE your choice of the typewriter!! I had an Easy Bake Oven in the 60s(then it was by "Kenner" co.) Wishing you & yours a Merry Christmas!! 🎄🌟🕊🔔🎁
Margarete, I happened upon your channel today and started watching this video when I was tickled to see at 4:16 a typewriter similar to the one I received from “Santa” as a 11 year old. I then watched as you mentioned the microscope which I received a few months later for my birthday. Apparently Santa shopped at Western Auto that year. We still have Western Auto in our little town but I don’t think their kids Christmas line is quite as extensive. TYFS
@@MargareteMiller Maybe it was an East Coast chain (Ha, Western Auto). The microscope is long gone but I still have the typewriter. I tried to send the pic but not a feature on YT. Thank you again for the video.

What a story!! I had never heard of Western Auto until I came across that catalog. I'd like to have seen a store!
I really enjoy that you welcome us with a smile at the start of your videos🥰and your creative talent is stunning. I dreamed of an easy bake oven too 😂

What a blast from the past seeing that catalogue!! I kept thinking, "we had one of those", as you flipped through!!
I've had SO much fun with this catalog. I was thinking of going on Ebay and finding another to get and flip through 😉
I loved Western Auto, I bought my first stereo record player there when I was 16.

That's so cool!! I can imagine how popular that must have been. Crazy! 🙂
This has been the very best December Daily I’ve ever done. Thank you so much 🎄
👏🏼 I'm so glad!! ❤️

We didn't have Western Auto in California as far as I can remember. Was it an actual store? Did they really sell auto stuff?

You can catch up. Lots are easy and you can do a couple at a time if you'd like. I hope you have fun with it 🙂

Super! I'm so glad they're helpful, Jean 🙂

You're too cool for school, Karen, playing with a typewriter. I had two older brothers so I was knee deep in dirt playing with action figures.

Merry Christmas, Debbie! I'm glad you got that Easy Bake Oven!! ❤️

So cool! ❤️ There were no Western Auto stores where I grew up in California. I would love to see one, even now! 😉
