People apparently forget that in mahomes first year as a starter in 2018 a coin decided his first afc championship as the patriots won the coin toss and scored on their first possession in overtime. The chiefs asked for the rule to be changed and the bills were a part of the league that voted NO to changing the overtime rules. Then fast forward one chiefs superbowl later and a few appearances. The chiefs get the coin toss and beat Allen in overtime. The bills then request for the overtime rule to be changed cause it is “unfair” but when it happened to the chiefs they didn’t care 😂

Allen and the Bills offense turned the ball over on downs 4 times against a mid-pack Chiefs Defense... Mahomes and the Chiefs offense turned it over on downs twice, and the Chiefs kicker left 4 points on the field or there would have been no reason for the 13 second drive or OT... Easily checked facts, and sad, but true...
Everyone came away from that game knowing Josh out played pat except chiefs fans. Josh had better numbers and more TD’s until pat got an extra possession in OT.

His number 1 defense stopped Mahomes on downs only twice... Exactly. I think it may come down to the defense. The Chiefs' defense is top-notch and healthy, the Bills' defense is injured and depleted. Given that Josh Allen is known for running the ball, this may end up determining the game.

The sad reality is that even if Mahomes got beat 50-0 this game. He’s still 2-1 vs Josh in playoffs and even if Josh went on to win the SB… would have to go and win another one and then get to another one and then pick up a couple MVPs along the way.

The game means a lot. And the majority of this conversation was spot on. Especially the acknowledgement that if Allen was on the Chiefs to start his career with what Mahomes had, he'd have those titles too.
Mahomes is more successful. He's the better quarterback. But Allen is the most talented player in the game... he doesn't have the accolades which is largely rotten luck. He was better in that 13 second game. Had he won it, he'd have his title, but the coaching and defense blew it. It was a perfect example of the best player on the field doesn't always win the game.
When teams win superbowls, we don't use those titles as leverage for who is the best player at their position EXCEPT for QB. We don't say that Harrison Butker is the better kicker than Justin Tucker in the NFL because he won titles. We don't deny Barry Sanders greatness without him winning a title, but we do at QB. It's a team sport. If Allen went into that KC game and was outplayed, ok...sure it's his fault....but it wasnt. If that 13 second game went the other way (and it should have), he would be 4-1 against Mahomes.
The Bills injuries are a problem in this coming game. If healthy, I'd have high confidence in a win, but it's going to be a nail biter .

idk why james kept including burrow in the whole binoculars joke when 1.) burrow has already beaten mahomes once in the AFFCG, and it was in arrowhead. 2.) burrow has already beaten josh allen in the divisional, and it was in buffalo. he's 5-1 against the two of them in his career. burrow and allen have the same amount of playoff wins. burrow earned those 5 in 2 healthy seasons, other two season ending injury. allen been healthy but underachieving. the gap between burrow and mahomes is rings. the gap is smaller, but theres a gap between burrow and allen as well.

@@thatgwana i think so, but i’m also not entirely convinced he hasn’t passed him already. he hasn’t been awarded the 2nd MVP yet but the general consensus is he’s secured it. 2 MVPs is basically HOF territory, the only thing holding back lamar is his playoff resume. if he makes the SB win or lose, i think he’s indisputably top 3. i would say top 2 but i’m a bengals fan and bias won’t let me 😂

As a Bills fan… right now this is a valid opinion… let’s hope that Allen finishes this season the way that everyone knows he can. We got worked by the bengals last year in playoffs… but that 13 seconds OT loss to KC has nothing to with Josh or the way he played but everything to do with coaching decisions… Allen was playing like a man possessed in the 2021 playoffs
@@RyGuy264 and to be completely objective and fair, allen has the running element to his game that burrow does not. on any given sunday i think mahomes, allen, burrow, and lamar could beat one another cuz to me thats top 4 QBs. but on speak they always harp on playoff wins and QB wins so that was my point behind my comment. i actually love watching allen play, just wanted to make my case for burrow
Alex Smith took care of Mahomes and mentor him. Thats why the Chiefs took care of him with a trade that got him paid.
That's why I love Andy Reid. He develops his players slowly and doesn't just throw them to the wolves on day 1. Mahomes says how important it was to learn from Alex, and how unselfish Alex was during that transition period. Even this year, everyone was screaming for Rashee Rice to be the #1 WR straight away, but Andy let him build up his confidence and experience throughout the season.
And he was balling in Washington before that ugly injury

It’s going to take more than beating Mahomes once in the playoffs for Allen to be considered better than Pat. Allen has to win the Super Bowl. Then he needs to win an MVP. Then another Super Bowl. Then another MVP. Then they would be equal. So he would have to win either another Super Bowl or another MVP.
Allen ONLY needs a combination of three Superbowl rings and/ or three MVP awards. Right now he has zero of both. That’s how far behind Allen is.

I love this topic, cuz every time people compare the 2 players they seem to only reference team accomplishments. Everyone loves to dismiss the existence of Andy Reid when they talk about Mahomes’ greatness. I personally think Josh would have just as many SB’s, if not more, if he had an offensive genius like Reid since the beginning of his NFL career, and drafted for offensive talent as opposed to the Bills’ defense first approach. Part of what makes Tom Brady the goat isn’t just ring count, it’s how he did it, with the pieces and the system around him.
How come Josh Allen has always led the league in turnovers every year since he’s been in the league?
Andy is great but let’s not diminish mahomes to prop him up. Andy’s legacy pre Mahomes was just a good regular season coach that has bad clock management and cannot hold a lead in the playoffs. Chiefs consistently 1 and done in playoffs before mahomes. Mahomes cemented Andy’s legacy and turned around the playoff narrative.
@user-lt1fx2he5s he hasn't. He had not ever led the league in TO in a season. Since 2020 he has the most TD in the league by about 20. He's only 300 total yards behind Mahomes as well. He also plays for a defensive coach vs. Andy Reid. Those who watch Allen understand that his heroics keep the team from punting probably 5 times a game. Those would be change of possesion. He's not turning the ball over late in the game, he's been incredible in the red zone every single year (except last year for TO). He was 86% of his teams total scores this year and has been around 80% for 4 straight years as the only NFL player to have 4 straight 40 TD seasons.
Brady had the best defenses in the league those first couple sbs, it was so obvious the success wasn’t because of him? They didn’t start calling him the goat till about the 5th ring.

It's not all about QB. Mahomes is a shell of himself without Hill and an aging Kelse. Josh has more weapons than he's ever had. KC has a great D against the pass. Buffalo can run. Bills will win.
