    You are spot on when you think that a lot of your fans want to see you play lower rated players. I learn so much more from low rated player games then high rated players battling it out. Thanks for another great video.

    I think it's a good idea to play with lower rated players because i really do play like the way your opponent played. You are basicly showing me what im donig wrong, so thank you simon!

    • @fertedin
      @fertedin 6 лет назад +3

      I agree with Simon and you, I think the player played pretty like us, without big blunders but with some strange moves without any plan or creating weaknesses, and Simon shown us how to take advantage of that.

    As a 1600 player myself that even plays the french, I really enjoyed this video. If we want to see GMs playing at their highest level against equal opposition there are many sources for that, so I am happy to see you do a video on how to beat someone like myself rather than how to draw worldclass player.

    Dearest Ginger, in the year of our Lord 2017 you provided me with more joy, meaning and entertainment than my beloved Detroit Lions. Cheers.

      FYI Vic
      AD(short) - Anno Domine (latin) - Year of our lord (rough translation).
      Although it has religious roots, this way of specifying time is standardized and not exclusively religious. "In the year of our lord 2017" is just a fancy way of saying 2017 AD.

      “The Bible should be one piece of paper, and on that paper it should say.... try not to be a cunt.” - Jim Jefferies.
      “With over 400 religions in the world and every single one of them claiming to be the one correct religion, meaning all of the others are just nonsense, that means everyone on this planet should expect damnation solely as a matter of probability. Because you just happened to be born into the wrong culture in the wrong geographical location and have been spent your entire life, through no fault of your own, worshipping the wrong god. Essentially worshipping nothing. It’s just nonsense. (Rough translation)- Sam Harris

      I don't disagree with you on the facts, but you are still bringing in a whole lot of vitriol where there is no need for such, and with no clear indication that you had any opposition in the first place.
      We should all be here because we can't friggin get enough of gingergm, not because we disapprove of a carpenter that lived two thousand years ago, y'know?

    I agree with your point about you playing lower rated players, and about these videos being about your thought process more so than anything else. If these videos were against grandmasters or other high level players there is a good chance a lot of it would go over our heads.

  • @vicgenito135
    @vicgenito135 6 лет назад +1

    You are correct in that most of the people watching these videos are lower rated players, trying to get better, as I am. So sometimes it’s good to play lower rated players instead of only 2200+ rated players as it gives us a chance to see how someone such as yourself plays against someone roughly as good as us. John Bartholomew did a series called climbing the rating ladder where he played players all the way from under 1000 up to 2000 and they were extremely informative for the general lower rated audience. People like us learn a lot from stuff like that, and from stuff like this. So thank you sir.

    No more color flashes, subdued desk banging... the New Year if off to a great start Simon! Play around with the background some more. The blue fits well, but the theme feels wrong. Maybe use one of your existing art, gray-scale it and shift the hue to blue? Cheers!

    • @laurascott3483
      @laurascott3483 6 лет назад

      Thanks for pointing out it was a difficult year in the USA. I am a Boomer and remember when things were very, very different: Americans had much more freedom and a decent income.

    • @tommonk7651
      @tommonk7651 6 лет назад

      Laura, I'm a Boomer as well. I don't call ever being as divided as a nation, except for the Civil War period. Trump is a complete idiot. A narcissistic TV reality show "star" with no discernible skills whatsoever. He is certainly not equipped to govern a nation. When our parents and particularly our grandparents were around, one income could support the family and even make it flourish. Now, the middle class is in trouble and income has been pushed into the higher earning brackets. In the 70s, the average CEO of a company made around 11-13 times the income of an average worker. It is now well over a 100 times. The income inequality is staggering. We live in fear of terrorism, immigrants, poor healthcare, and all manner of other things. We have a White House occupant who has played golf for about 3 months so far of his first year and who makes money every time he plays at his own courses, who has threatened to cut off funds to the UN because people (correctly) disagree with him, who seeks to discredit the news media (our only source of information), who threatens nuclear war with an adversary, who pushed through a tax bill without hearings or proper consideration just so he can claim he passed something, who is in bed with Russia.... Yes, it's been tough year!

    In the ending instead of Rb7 if your opponent check first than you play Kg7 than Rb8 Rxd4 Rb4 now the King and pawn ending would have been really tricky I think it would have turn into a queen ending because your king cant get into the pawn square but it might still be winning.

    after Rb3 Rb5 was forced than Rxb5 axb5 was a really bad ending for black lol... Than Nd4 was winning the b5 pawn... Be7 was forced instead of Ke7 I think but now I analyzed this it was tricky after white nd4 than b5 ! if axb5 Ra8 ! lol and there is enough counter play for the pawn so instead white play b3 than Nxa3 than Kg2 Rc8 Re3 Rc5 rg3 Nb5 Nxb5 Rxb5 Rxg7 and black might be able to draw the ending i am not sure but white is clearly better.

  • @BrianKT

    You were wrong about his losing move.
    It was Rb7. Instead Rc8+ would give you the choice between the losing Kg7 (now Rb8 threatening Rb4 will transpose into a winning version of the endgame he lost) and repeating with Ke7.
