GMR to GRR to Baldy Village was one of my favorite rides in the area. So picturesque. Once I rode to Baldy Ski Lifts. Once was enough.

I love rides where at the end you can't believe it is over and you are both excited but a little bit sad at the same time. Definitely bittersweet. So, so happy the two of you were able to experience it together. Truly, that was the best part.

Started riding GMR in the early 1980's - it was pretty undiscovered back then. Loved every ride. Have moved to No. California and don't get down to So Cal anymore. Your video brought back really good.memories, thanks for posting.

Who knew GMR was a bucket list ride?
I gotta say, I don't ride casual gravel, I mountainbike. But for whatever reason, in-between my hardcore mountainbike videos, I love watching your "just enjoying the journey" videos. Keep up the good work!

Great Video.... If you are looking for a mellow ride with only one big hill and able to do it on a Gravel Bike, you should try Big Sycamore Canyon Trail. It goes from Newberry Park all the way down to the Pacific Ocean. You could start from the Pacific Ocean and go uphill first, or start in Newberry park and go downhill first, up to you. Part of the way is concrete and the rest a gravel road. Only a few difficult parts where streams have crossed the road. There is some soft sand and gravel and conditions that may be a bit much for thinner tired bikes. But, I have seen plenty of gravel bikes on this route. There are bathrooms and water at both ends, and one 1/2 way. Only one difficult hill, but based on what you have already done in California, should be no problem for you. Suggest you do it during the week, it is popular/crowded on the weekends. Large parking lot in Newberry Park with restrooms. Great scenery!!!! Trails off of the main trail are more suitable for MTB, would not try on thinner tire bikes.

I did this ride yesterday for the 1st time and this video doesn’t do the difficulty justice. It’s basically a corkscrew for the first 7 miles and then it hugs several satellite peaks for the last 3. You can never tell for how long you’re on any of the corkscrew bc you can’t see more than 100’ in front of you. This also makes the descent absolutely atrocious bc you’re constantly braking bc of the tight curves. I’m glad I did it but I’ll never do it again.
