The new camera looks really nice. I noticed an improved picture right away. Looks really nice
@@timturner326 $3k camera it better look better
Some people just don’t understand it’s not all about the production some of it is about the enjoyment you get out of doing it and I get out of watching you. I have never seen anyone operate machinery, as well as you. Great job.
Nothing sounds better than the crunch of a large round being split!
I know right? I love that sound
MAN !! That log splitter on your excavator is a REAL BEAST !! Like a hot knife through butter !!
The new camera is maybe the best clarity I’ve seen in a RUclips video. It’s awesome. Audio is beautiful also.
It’s funny I thought the inside shots at the beginning were quite fuzzy.
Mike you don’t need to let the machine idle while doing a regen, keep working it and the regen be a lot quicker. Truckers never let the truck idle to do a regen, they keep going and hardly notice a regen is happening. The hotter the engine the quicker the regen, so it makes more sense to keep working it.
Splitting wood that way looks relaxing and fun at the same time.
The Split Fire is a back saver. Ever watch strong man competitions? A man can dead lift 600 lbs on a barbell, but picking up the 600 lbs ball to lift onto the stand is nearly impossible. Lifting those rounds would have been like those balls. The split fire is perfect for downsizing. Smarter, not harder!! I hope that when splitting, you find the metal. I liked it when you told those first two logs paid for two loads. Now that's awesome!! Thanks, Mike. Nice video. 👍🚜❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good Morning Mike, first of all , I want to say "Thank You" for all these daily posts! Truly! . And secondly, the new camera , I noticed instantly, before you even said anything about it ...very clear imagery and I like it! ❤
That new camera is SWEET !! Good picture quality !!
Good morning Mike and family. Praying that you and yours have a blessed Palm Sunday.
I have been watching your channel for over five years. I found it after I broke my foot and ankle. I was out of commission for four months while I had two surgeries and recovery time. You help me get through some hard times. Keep up the amazing videos. Thank you from Adam, Kourtney and the rest of my family out here in Utah.
I agree with the "regen" hindering productivity, small businesses have very little time if any to deal with "down time"! I'm very impressed with your time management as it is, balancing family, wood production, youtube, you make it look way to easy! I would love to see a behind the scenes vid of a basic day for you. Just let the camera follow you all day ! Keep up the strong work and representing good ol' Merica !!!
regen is a pain but not many people mention how the modern diesels are so efficient on fuel so you get payback on that side(granted it would be even better with out the dpf but the particulates are a hazard
I keep plenty busy fixing all makes an models of equipment with emission problems
@@thomasholland5841Soon you will have to be battery certified if JoeBama gets back in in November! Then again, in a year if that happens we may all be sitting in reeducation camps!
And it made a satisfying thump when you're firewood hit the ground, i find watching you split firewood, relaxing. thank you.
Can't beat a Sony. Have a wonderful Palm Sunday.
Really cool seeing the split fire in action on those monster rounds! Perfect application!
You are like a surgeon with that splitfire. Fun to watch
Hi Mike, I ran a 066 for years( that was the number back then) trust me that saw you have will handle a 42 inch bar just fine. I always ran square ground chain. A lot of times you needed a longer bar while felling and bucking in Alaska. I enjoy your video's very much.
It really is amazing to watch you operating all your different equipment. I know it takes alot of hours on machines to be as proficient as you are. Keep up the great work and videos, best to you and yours
I’m a truck driver that deals with a regen truck every other day. The trucks will eventually not stop regining .then it’s off to the Cummings, shop for a$20,000 dollar new filter and injector. That’s right $20,000 dollars
That sure is a handy gadget! I've had rounds nearly that big that I had to saw into pieces just so I could lift them onto the splitter! Your way is much easier and faster. I'm 70 years old now, and most of the things I used to do the hard way are nearly impossible for me now. My tractor takes up a lot of that slack, but what I've seen you do with that excavator makes me think that I might have to get one of those. It would definitely extend my years working in the woods! Not ready to give that up just yet! Thanks for all the entertaining and informative videos. God bless you and your family.
Every time you use that split fire, I’m so impressed with it! Maybe it’s your proficiency with it, I don’t know but man, that thing is super useful! Also, that split fire splitting those big rounds makes for the perfect ASMR. Really enjoy your videos. Keep it up Mike!
Video quality has increased dramatically with the new camera. Keep it up looks great.
That splitfire is a complete beast. I could watch that all day.
Mike i know you are the kind of guy that is always thinking about what lays in front of you. You plan as you work and work to develop your your plan. Having said that and listening to you over the last few weeks I think part of your plan has some overlapping needs. You have said your getting a kiln. You have invested your self in an aggressive production plan of fire wood and lumber.
I would offer that your needs will soon be highly demanding in order for you to make both your firewood production and your lumber drying work produce your future needs that you are going to have to fine tune and work your YARD hard to keep the utilization of the kiln at its max as well as keeping the sawmill making dust asuch as possible. Used to work making production schedules in major construction and can see your days getting busier and busier. Have a good day and make lots of dust
That splitter is a bad boy. I would probably not even consider dealing with wood that big. That was a lot f firewood that you were able to save. Stay safe everybody
Mike, my tractor is a Kubota M6060 and I pull a Dragonfly arena drag for many very high end equestrian competitions. My tractor would want a regen at all the worst times. I would have to hide deep in the woods during regen so it wouldn't spook the horses (we have anywhere from 500 to 1000 horses per show) I asked another driver with a tractor like mine how does he deal with it and he told me to ignore it, with 2 flashing lights and a loud beeper it was tough but I did it..... it's been 2 years now, the beeper doesn't come on any more and the flashing lights go off after just a couple minutes.....my tractor does not use DEF and I don't know if that makes a difference
love regens cleans the engine and soot out the muffler keep engine clean
WOW Mike, that Splitfire sure makes short work on those rounds !! You had a huge pile of split firewood in no time at all !!
Mike, you might not have run the split fire much but you have become really good at using it. Thanks for taking us along on your journey! J.R.
Hi Morgan's! Mike you've got the tools for sure and you know how to use them! You have mastered your wood splitting techniques with your various equipment and have become very efficient! That's the way to maximize your time usage and make the most money for your time spent. Way to go! We all, well a lot of us, realize your sizeable investment in your machinery, but you use it all and utilize it well. You get the most bang for your buck for sure!
We really enjoy what you do and all that you do! It was great to see Melissa, although in a cameo appearance the other day, as well as daughter Eva in the video where she helped you at the saw mill. I know that you are proud of her as you should be. She definitely is a rock star in her own right! She has intelligence, good looks and a great deal of confidence for a young lady! Way to go Eva!
Best of luck to you and your family always and may God continue to bless you!
From your fans out here in beautiful western Colorado! 😊
For a non professional you’ve got some serious skills operating that machine, I’m jealous.
Watching Mike split the wood made me think of Mike and Flintstone when they worked together in the rock quarry! Go Mike! -KB
You are so blessed to live in a place where you do. Of course you built it all on your own but I can appreciate all the hard woods you have to work with. God Bless you.
That new camera is noticeably better clarity .. love it. That splitfire is definitely worth every penny you paid for it. It would be a much harder job without it. The yard is looking much more organized. Can't wait to see the new projects and the new auger you purchased in action :) Have a great up coming week :)
sound is good and very clear video
Mike as soon as you came on today the sound was the best I have ever heard on any of yiurs.
After a 3-4"snow covering yesterday. Blight sun warmer temps will clean the big pines. Perfect blueberry muffin coffee video from ODWMs to enjoy and start the day! It would be interesting to kow how much fuel is burnt during Regens to make the clean air!
Have you thought about putting some protective wrap on those hydraulic lines on the front of the splitfire?
Great video!! Efficient way to process those giant trunks!! 🪵🪵🪵
You have an awesome system to cut up your wood THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
I know a couple of channels that would put that big round of their splitter and man handled that beast. The split fire does a great job
Not a big fan of Regen or Def but they are things we have to deal with sometimes a pain in the but and can affect other systems I had an alternator going out and a Def sensor freaked cause of the voltage drop took three trips to shop to figure it out you definitely have a system for doing things that work the splitter on the excavator is slick only thing I would do is make a holder for the hoses to keep up out of dangers way.
That excavator splitter is the cats meow for splitting those big chunks. I’ve never seen one in action it was amazing to watch
I love that Split-Force splitter. It’s pretty awesome. Cool video 👍❤️
Mike, you make using that split force splitter look easy, I know it's not all that easy. Great video, always enjoy seeing what you are up to. Jay from Pa.
That course splitter for your excavator is amazing.
Good Morning Mike. I have found that if you run your engines at pto rated speed ( over 2200 rpm)while working you will greatly reduce the regen if not nearly eliminate it. Skid steers should be run at least at 3/4 throttle for both hydraulic and engine efficiency. Diesels thrive at these speeds. Yes it will increase fuel consumption but the wasted fuel in a regen will cost you more by wasted “wait time”. I have a RK tractor that has 500+ hours and never had to regen by using this technique. It has a Yanmar engine. The loader backhoes with hydrostatic transmission also work more efficiently at pto engine rpm. Think about it.. you mow a 100 acre field you do it at pto rpm and the tractor is designed to do that day in and day out. Only one real downside is that it is much louder to maintain this practice. Love your program. I enjoyed meeting both of you at Spruce Knob in West Virginia last September. I was with two friends on motor cycles. Keep doing what you do. It gives me the fun of “working with you in the wood yard.” I have owned all of the equipment and then some that you operate. Can’t get enough of it so I operate that excavator with you from my favorite chair in the off hours. The wife says my hands are moving while I watch.
Very nice comment, I also get motivated by mikes videos. Craig. Pa.
Hey Mike, I'm currently building a splitter for my mini ex. I bought an old 3 point logsplitter at auction years ago. I think it will help me bust down the big stuff just like your doing!! I'm curious to see what was in that log. I once got a log from the local park that had 2 baseballs inside it. Even cooler instance, when I was a young lad about 14 yrs old helping my grandfather split wood he was splitting a big crotch in an old oak and about 10 arrowheads fell out!!! It was like a stash or something! I'll never forget that!
I did the same thing, bought an old 3pt splitter and converted it into a mini x splitter. No problem breaking down huge rounds now. It’s alot of fun to run too
Sweet!! That Is Prime Firewood!!
Gourgous!!
Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
New camera video looks great. I think it makes you look younger! Those of us in our 50's need every advantage on that front!
lol
Now you just need Billy Ray to get that saw ported . lol
Good Afternoon Morgan's and Friends!😊. Beautiful trees here in Delanson, NY covered by some fresh snow and ice! Great finesse you have operating each machine and tool Mike! Can't wait to see the beauty in those maple slabs. Have a day!!
When everything goes electric, that should make the regeneration a lot easier.
For the large logs I would brace it on both sides and use your ms 881 and split it down the middle then cut it into lumber.
Wow! That Splitfire isn't handy for everything you do, but it really has a place with those huge logs.
When my machine wants to Regen I just keep working it . Can't see wasting fuel letting it sit and run . Like your videos
Cool video today Mike, really like the Split Fire attachment! Unless they have 2 plants they are built here is Southern Ontario!
This morning in North Idaho, Sunday, we have light snow that started about daylight and continued until mid-afternoon but there was no accumulation. We may get some accumulation tomorrow morning, we'll see.
That thing really does the job on big firewood rounds.
I think you need to get that Australian machine back again!!.
Excellent video work!!❤
That splitfire isn’t exactly a efficient way to split firewood….. BUT… It will definitely eliminate the risk of a injured back.. Days away from the wood yard is most definitely not efficient.. It’s awesome!!
Mike, your editing skills are "out of this world." When I watch youtube videos, I have a habit of keeping my hand on the mouse, in case I get bored with the video content, or music, and I need to "fast-forward" if you will. I never touch that mouse when I'm watching your videos! You are great, and keep up the great work.
Wow, thanks!
The picture quality is excellent with the new camera. Also lower quality Diesel fuels will cause higher soot, maybe ask your supplier about premium Diesel.
It always amazes me at how nice and efficient, that splitter works on the excavator!
Mikes work good , kinda loud .The split force is a good splitter . I have had roundsI could not lift on my splitter . I have a young strong helper . We have had some that were hard to lift . My old hme made splitter split them . Thanks for sharing, Mike .
I always enjoy your content. I don't often comment except when we talk politics lol! Tho I have always been a music man and still create content for my music channel on youtube, my second love has always been wood. I love the way you have created your "woodyard" right before our eyes. At 79 I'm somewhat retired in that I no longer tour, just make vids for my channel now. But in another life I could easily have enjoyed making slabs and firewood so I, and I'm sure many other of your subs, live vicariously thru watching you do it. It's just a peaceful break in our day.
Just a guess. But maybe the Regen is happening due to the constant start/stop of the machines, instead of leaving them running, Eva's video must have started and stopped the excavator 8-10 times.
Run all your machines on the max RPMwgen your using them, not 1/4 or 1/2 throttle (or it sounds like it on the videos -maybe just quiet machines)
That will reduce your Regen times as your filter wont be constantly plugged due to start/stop and low rpm running for long periods of time
That excavator splitter is pretty slick. You have gotten good with it.
Nice to see a well organized work place. Enjoy your weekend.
Neat attachment
I got my split fire 4209 up and running Last week ! I love it! Keep up the great work 👍
That SplitFire is Incredible! The 2 way action is perfect as an implement on the excavator. Good demonstration!
WOW, you and that split fire munched that 50 plus round like a pro. Impressive!
For stumps use the auger you just bought and they make a triangle shaped screw bit that twists into wood to split it
Good morning y'all !!! Have a great Sunday, and hello from beautiful British Columbia.
I'm DOWNSIZING! And I thought it would be equipment related. Next week, it's hey Melissa, guess what I bought ! lolol. In jest ! I've seen the eye roll.
I got my 4409 splitfire in about 3 weeks ago . Made 2 videos on it and been so busy have not got to use it any more yet .
Good Morning Mike and Crew... the best way I've found todeal with huge wood, since I don't have access to machines, is to noodle them with my Husky 372xp or 395xp (directly comparable to your 661, it's a 94cc saw) and then pop them apart with my Fiskars X27 Super Splitting Axe. MUCH MUCH MUCH easier than trying to wrestle those big heavy rounds up onto the splitter. Saw gas is a LOT cheaper than Doctor and Chiropractor bills!!
I was just thinking we haven’t seen the big split fire splitter in a while that thing is amazing 😊😉
I just finished listening to "One Second After". Thanks for the recommendation. Great book and great lessons to be pulled from it. I enjoy your channel, keep up the good work!
I really like that piece of equipment tho that’s a handy tool
Great video!
Mike. GM. I really like when you explain how you are using the controls of the equipment to get the job done. I personally do not have ANY of this equipment. I just appreciate seeing someone handle the equipment in a precise manner..
That things got some power mike
That splitter is perfect for exactly what you do with it.
Mike, you mentioned it before but you sure need a smaller rubber tired skid loader for the wood yard. God Bless, Daryl
Smooth operator awesome so relaxing watching you operate!
Happy Sunday Mike & Melissa ~ Enjoyed watching the video! The Split Fire is a pretty handy attachment for the Kubota Excavator ~
Awesome log splitter !
Hey Mike, what would be the possibilities instead of splitting them into a pile, possibly splitting them into the old dump truck and then backing the dump truck up to a small table next to the splitter takes out an extra step kind of like a table like hard-working man has
Good morning Morgan's from a windy Gulf Coast Really like the A7 mark IV video ,really nice and the audio is great as well.
hi there good show , sorry to hear you are not going to saw that big maple but you are smart and make a lot of wise choices so it is for the best ,like the brake down of the big logs .i do that as well . now i just need to get you into a table method of splitting wood ,it will change the way you split wood forever . best to all ,john
That splitter on the excavator really works good if that thing has a six way attachment that would definitely be the tool of choice😊
Cheers Mike, another great one
This was another great video. I applaud your success! Stay humble and keep doing the right thing Mike.
Hey, good morning... I just watched the kubota vidio, about regen, just keep working it apparently won’t matter.
Good morning really like the wood spitter. Not sure on the spelling 66 years old. I still try to do firewood
Splitting
Gotta love the EPA and the government! They sure know how to make our lives better!
I have a proposed experiment. I wonder if you used a tank of road diesel in the sawmill, which is cleaner fuel, if it would go much longer between regen's?
That's the cats meow for a back saver .
Wow! Great camera!
