HOW MUCH REDUCER DID U USE PER LITTLE CONTAINER?? THIS IS THE BEST LOOKING ONE ONE HERE. I JUST HAVE FINISHED GETTING MY GUITAR PREPPED AND I'M READY TO SWIRL AND I WHAT THE BEST JOB I CAN GET
Great job man. I'm gonna try smth like this on my strat. What kind of paints do u use? Is it something special so it doesn't go under the water and stays on the surface? And how thin is the swirl paint after it's dried out? Thanx.
What kind of paint do you use, exact name and paint would be nice, and what concentration of borax do you use in the water and what temp is the water? please reply lol really interested in doing this!
So the first colour you used & thinned down was the 'base' colour , the rest was all swirls . So the green & black one you did was black base & neon green swirls ? Is it the borax that makes the paint behave that way ? My first thought was it was oil paint in the water , but that wouldn't react well with the acrylic base coat you've used .
@Sitheplayer cheers, borax used to add about a box - 400grams to a dustbin full of water about 50litres, so 0.8 of a pound to 11 gallons. Water temp what ever is was on the day
@mindcrazer yes, when I was doing all the bodies at once, they would get about 3 coats each in a day, then when dry give them a level sand ready for some more clear...repeat
what brands of paints did you use....and what is the proper ratio of water to borax?.....and then what is your steps for clearing ..wet sanding and polishing?
@joak1073 you can start off with a rubbish bin, garbage can - something big enough to dip the guitar into. Never emptied one, keep it for your next swirl. Although once you have cleaned up all the paint with newspaper it should be clean enough to pour away if you have to.
The borax alters the surface tension of the water which allows the paint to lay in a wider and thinner slick over the surface. Without it the paint would clump together instead of covering the entire surface.
An awesome outcome,,,,that looks badass,,what kind of paint did you use ?? Where can I buy it also,,,I have a few guitars ready for a look like that thanks a bunch
John Alcock Be sure to use oil based paint. And use equal amounts of borax for the amount of paint you use. Should be able to find it at home depot or lowes
Hi amrt555 Amazing job! I just stumbled on this video & now I have to try this, can you please tell me exactly which neon One Shot colors you used for this Vai swirl? Thanks
So when you do this, you are using Borax in the water and Acrylic Enamel auto paint? What is the mixture of Borax and why the Borax? Thanks for the help
:O Wow. I saw the paint being sloshed around, and I Was like "this is gonna be shit like all the other ones on youtube".... then you pulled it out... and my jaw dropped!!!! Amazing swirl!!!!
Dude I'm a custom painter and looking at doing a swirl job. Just unsure if I'm seeing things correctly. As I understand you get big container of water and drop your desired paint in. Then remove? But my questions are does the part your dipping get water soaked? And can I use urethane "clear over base" automotive paint?
Is that some weird Hendrix remix in the background? VERY NICE SWIRL! I know One Shot as a Sign Painters paint... is this the same thing? What is the base?
hola si mi guitarra esta vieja que le tengo que hacer despintarla??? y lijarla?? y si se tiene que hacer lo que te dije con que pintura la pinto y despues ya va lo de los remolinos por favor contesta
I havent tried this yet, but say I did it and didnt like the outcome and wanted to do it over. Is there away to get the paint off quickly before it dries and I need to sand the entire guitar?
Hi, I saw some post questions about what paints did you use but not any answers. Is there any chance I could please please get some info on what type of paints where used. What type of paint and what exact colors? Thanks thanks
does this acrylic car paint is based on oil too? coz as far i know usually people use enamel oil based paint for swirling.. p/s - i still dont know what type of paint to use for primer either it ise acrylic or etc
You should edit in this video showing what it looks like now after you completed putting it back together, all ready to play, making it look like you just pulled it out of the water, then in the next shot you're standing there with the guitar and playing it on an amplifier. It would give a better impression and look much better if you pulled it out of the water, then said; now I'm going to finish it up real quick and show you what it looks and sounds like to play, as if you did that in a heartbeat. The shock and awesomeness would give a bigger reaction among the wievers. No one has done that as far as I have seen. It would make you look like a more professional moviemaker and give a complete meaning to the film, because that's what it's really all about, showing the finished product and showing it in working action. This could in a way compare to a ''pimp my ride'' program that ended just after showing what the new paint job looked like, without mounting all the other parts back together and taking it for a test ride for the viewers to see. Could you please let me know should you happen to do this so I can see it? If you still have the guitar it could be done in a short amount of time, and in case you'd be wearing different clothes because you don't have them any longer wouldn't mean a thing either. Or you could simply edit in after the film ends yourself saying; and this is what it looks like now after I put it back together. Because I really would like to see how it turned out, but it would be best to see the difference if it was transitioned into the end of this film.
parabéns pela arte amigo olha alem de admirar eu gostaria que informasse onde consigo achar essa tinta e como preparara pois vejo que á mesma fica um pouco rala.queria saber se possível como prepara las fico muito grato se me responder abraços........
Wow, of all the guitar swirl videos I've watched, this is by far the best end result.
I remember watching this when I was a little kid. This thing still rocks
I swirled my tube amp and it doesn't work now.
Awesome!
Because swirling is effective only with transistors amps
Great job, one of the nicest ones I've seen online, good palette of colors aw well!
Awesome outcome looks amazing.
Don't know if I agree with the electric dryer though. One day Sparky one Day....BUFFZZzzz zz
Love that colour scheme
That guitar would match macho man randy savage to the t in 90's. Cool.
ooooooooooooooohh yyyyeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SNAP INTO A SWIRL JEM!
You nailed it dude
Badass man. You did a great job on that. Thanks for sharing.

One of the best swirls I've seen on RUclips!
HOW MUCH REDUCER DID U USE PER LITTLE CONTAINER?? THIS IS THE BEST LOOKING ONE ONE HERE. I JUST HAVE FINISHED GETTING MY GUITAR PREPPED AND I'M READY TO SWIRL AND I WHAT THE BEST JOB I CAN GET
Great job... What is the ratio of Borax in the water? Or do you just throw some in there kinda random?
+MarshallWillanholli yes what this viewer said. How much Borax is needed??? Curious.
Excelent man! The paint is awesome!
Great job man. I'm gonna try smth like this on my strat. What kind of paints do u use? Is it something special so it doesn't go under the water and stays on the surface? And how thin is the swirl paint after it's dried out? Thanx.
Dude... best swirl i've seen... ever.
What kind of paint do you use, exact name and paint would be nice, and what concentration of borax do you use in the water and what temp is the water? please reply lol really interested in doing this!
Great job mate , looks awesome . You've inspired me to dip my bike ( tank & fairings ) , I reckon it'll make an awesome street fighter .
God how I wanted that paint job on my Jem 30 years ago.
One of the better ones I've seen :) Good job! It looks great :D
are you diluting the one shot at all? Looks like you are with the yellow? Very nicely done!!!!
the best paw on youtube :) 2020
@Sitheplayer
cheers, borax used to add about a box - 400grams to a dustbin full of water about 50litres, so 0.8 of a pound to 11 gallons. Water temp what ever is was on the day
It came out perfect
that's amazing, you are truly an artist
What paint did you use in this swirl??? humbrol paints???? I need to get just that kind of pink... Great Job dude!
Hey, Did you use the Chartreuse color for yellow or just the poster color yellow? I ordered some paint today and I think I ordered the wrong type.
Is that pink or magenta? Very bright colors
you can hear happiness
@mindcrazer
yes, when I was doing all the bodies at once, they would get about 3 coats each in a day, then when dry give them a level sand ready for some more clear...repeat
Nice job! How many (in weight) borax did you use? And how many liters of water?
What kind of paint do you use? I want to try this. Very cool 😎
Best swirl I've seen online...
Very nice work. When you finish the guitar,do you sand after every layer of clearcoat?
something that works with whatever paints you are going to swirl with - test it. I used standard acrylic car paint
what brands of paints did you use....and what is the proper ratio of water to borax?.....and then what is your steps for clearing ..wet sanding and polishing?
came out AWESOME!!!
says the paint in the description, borax used a box 400g for a dustbin of water. Water temp doesn't matter
Best looking one on youtube
@joak1073
you can start off with a rubbish bin, garbage can - something big enough to dip the guitar into. Never emptied one, keep it for your next swirl. Although once you have cleaned up all the paint with newspaper it should be clean enough to pour away if you have to.
That’s amazing
How did you dispose of the water afterwards? Great result btw!
When the music started I was like, dude, the guitar wood is cracking! NO! Haha.
haha, i love your hair dryer tricks! smart and nice outcome.
Very nice!!!!
That went well... kudos. I am about to do a guitar myself and your vid is very helpful. What is the borax for?
The borax alters the surface tension of the water which allows the paint to lay in a wider and thinner slick over the surface. Without it the paint would clump together instead of covering the entire surface.
really awesome!!! where can i buy the paint enamels ,i dont have a hobby store localy?
An awesome outcome,,,,that looks badass,,what kind of paint did you use ?? Where can I buy it also,,,I have a few guitars ready for a look like that thanks a bunch
John Alcock Be sure to use oil based paint. And use equal amounts of borax for the amount of paint you use. Should be able to find it at home depot or lowes
well your at the mercy of how you swirl the paint, im doing black and green as my main swirl with a little bit of yellow
Steve Vai used his own blood mixed to the paint, nice idea, if i swirl i'll use my blood
That came out perfect!!!
Hi amrt555 Amazing job! I just stumbled on this video & now I have to try this, can you please tell me exactly which neon One Shot colors you used for this Vai swirl?
Thanks
verryyy nice What brand of paint
use
cheers - yes same thing & base is just a can of white acrylic car spray paint, then scuffed up
So when you do this, you are using Borax in the water and Acrylic Enamel auto paint? What is the mixture of Borax and why the Borax?
Thanks for the help
@91LewisH
yes, cleared with 2k - pics of the finished guitar in 'do all my guitars sound the same?' vid
Awesome work man!!!
:O Wow. I saw the paint being sloshed around, and I Was like "this is gonna be shit like all the other ones on youtube".... then you pulled it out... and my jaw dropped!!!! Amazing swirl!!!!

Pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Is that some weird Hendrix remix in the background? VERY NICE SWIRL! I know One Shot as a Sign Painters paint... is this the same thing? What is the base?
says the brand in the description, base coat was acrylic car paint

Beautiful
Wow dude. A hair dryer over a big tub of water. Great idea man! Lol
hola si mi guitarra esta vieja que le tengo que hacer despintarla??? y lijarla?? y si se tiene que hacer lo que te dije con que pintura la pinto y despues ya va lo de los remolinos por favor contesta

hello friend, I am Brazilian and I was wondering if this type of paint is some kind of special Tista or even oil paint?
would you have to put on a clear lacquer after the paint has dried or does the paint stick that well?
Awesome swirls man, love all the other ones on SS.org too. Would you be willing to divulge the ratio of borax to water and water temperature?
was the black a bit faded or was that a reflection?
wow pretty cool !
with what did you hold together the guitar body and the stick from which you were holding it?
Perfect !
what do u use to put the paint on the water? a brush?
once that guitar goes in you pray to God it comes out clean.
..so any neon paint? form walmart? where
awesome
You must paint it with a base coat first, so make sure everything is covered and you wont have a problem
happy music in the background :D

My main concern is will the water damage the wood of the guitar?
irs home made..they use wooden dowels to join it to the guitar for a handle while restoring
@alcmiller1
Hi sorry don't know if the first reply worked - yes Oneshot enamel is the brand
La pintura es base agua o aceite?
OMG!! :D so awsesome!!
