Hi guys , if u really want to appreciate Iron maiden , watch live performance . This band is one of the rarest to be better live than studio . Here's some good songs : - The rime of rhe ancient mariner - The clansman - Alexander the Great - Blood brothers - The Talisman - Phantom of the opera - and so many more ....
Alexander the Great is an epic track...but not one they've ever performed live as (according to Nicko) it's too technically intricate with the timing to do it live. They rehearsed it with the intention of adding it to a set but were never able to do it to the standard that satisfied them.
@@damot1051 nice..you beat me to it...lol.Up the Irons!
Rime of the Ancient Mariner is another awesome song
a lot of people are put off by metal because of the complexity and often speed of the songs. there's so much going on its just too much for people so used to mainstream 2 verse 3 chorus music. It takes practice. Their songs get better each time you listen to them. i'd heard of maiden for years before i became a real fan. once it clicked i couldnt get enough. i fucking love them! seen them live 10 times. They are as good live as they are recorded. There's a really popular live version of this song from 1982 at the Hammersmith Apollo in London that will blow your minds. any maiden song you can follow a single instrument through its entirety and be entertained. Their musicianship is on another level. And the energy man!!! they make my heart thump all these years later with songs ive heard a 1000 times. Steve Harris is an incredible song writer. check out the trooper, aces high, phantom of the opera, killers. the last two are from the first 2 albums with Paul Di Anno as vocalist. totally different voice but the same incredible intensity and musicianship. Anyhow i could talk about them forever and list 30 more incredible songs but i wont lol
Your experience and slow to embrace is similar to my wife's journey with this band. She used to hate me playing maiden all the time having grown up on them. I took her to a show of them live - she agreed to go cuz I humored her and went to see Duran Duran with her - 30 secs in with those guitars on Ace's High (opening song); she was grinning like the Chesire Cat. She fell in love with their stage, their stage presence, the instrumentation, the attitude etc, and has love hearing them ever since. It was like a light came on and she was enthralled at just how dam good they are.
Steve Harris is probably the most underrated bass player out there, he never gets mentioned enough when people talk about bass players. His bass carries most Iron Maiden songs!
He was always #1 or in the top 3 of Metal bass players in the 80's and there was a bunch of very talented metal bass players back in the day.
The same goes for Prince when people says : he was the most underrated guitarist... Underrated by whom ?
@@frenchnomaamer1909 My thoughts exactly.
*He is not underrated bro... Just google it. Who is world's no. 1 heavy metal bassist? You'll get your answer. 😂*
Are you kidding? He's always been mentioned as one of the greatest Heavy Metal bass guitarists ever. Even though Geddy Lee would win virtually all the polls, Steve Harris was ALWAYS up there in the Top 5, usually in the Top 3!
I was born in 1965 & I testify that I was soooooo lucky to be born then because of the great great music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s !.....not just metal/ hard rock but ALL genres from then
They’re a live band. That’s why they were & still are so popular.
they is still got a pulse
Hallowed be thy name is one of the best metal songs ever written. Iron maiden is beyond legendary....pay attention to the lyrics.... amazing storytelling
I'm a more mature adult now I remember when I made inform the 1975 they had multiple lead singers but I believe that Bruce Dickinson is the best out of all them everybody else has a unique quality but Bruce can get the crowd into it
The best for me free Iron Maiden fan was to see them live
Maiden is a band that gives the bass player mad presence. Normally bass is a backup to the other players but not IM. He blows you away live....so great.
Definitely agree that you guys have to listen to the live versions! It will take you to another level 😊
Since Nick mentioned that operatic vocals are not something he's normally drawn to, you guys might want to check out Iron Maiden with their earlier vocalist Paul Di'Anno. He had a more raw, almost punky style. I'd recommend going with the song "Killers", which is the title track from their second album released in 1981. The song totally shreds... it's really awesome!!
Hallowed is Maiden's Stairway to Heaven
Ghost of the Navigator (From their comeback album back in 2000), Phantom of the Opera (for an old song with their first singer), Sign of the Cross (Rock in Rio 2001), Wasted Years (for an 80ies kinda Maiden song).
Is he on death row? The first lines - "at 5 o'clock they take me to the gallow's pole"
(not to be whipped like Colt's fan said - that would be a whipping post; a gallow's pole is a hanging.)
"they have to make great stage songs....this would be a great stage song." It is! Seen them live 6 times and this is phenomenal live. they have 16 studio albums - which for them, this means they have 16 albums of great stage songs! :-)
Best band on earth and Bruce best heavy metal and frontman ever !!!! Up the irons
Maiden has to be appreciated live. Some suggestions: Fear of the dark (Live in Rio), Dance of death (Live Death On The-Road), Rime of the ancient mariner (Flight 666), Paschendale
Killers and Number best album covers in rock history. period. I'd bet they sold a million copies from the cover alone. haha
This was my first Maiden concert. I just saw them 5 days ago. The energy is as high now as it was then.
Live, do Iron Maiden always live. Unless you find a live version. But live until then. The best band in this world. There is so much to explore.
Try ‘phantom of the opera’ by iron maiden. It’s a classic from the first album with Paul D’anno on vocals rather than Bruce - you might prefer it
My favourite Maiden song by far
Out of the countless songs they’ve written, not one song uses the fade out ending. Every single IM tune has a solid intro and ending. Oh and no cheesy love ballads, either. Just saw them a few months ago and they are still amazing live. Up the Irons!
have a nice trip with iron maiden airlines.....the best band ever love from greece
Live performance even better
This album was my introduction to iron maiden in 1982. Instant fan. I finally saw them live for the first and possibly the last in 2019. This was the closing song. You know your enjoying it when you look like three bobble heads.
Great reaction! Up the Irons from a fan of Maiden for 40 years.
If you guys could download this song live it is awesome how cruiseday they consume and the band are just in sync amazing
THE greatest metal song ever written. Fact. Mint reaction lads 💪🏻 subbed
You should react to the live version of this song. 1982 concert
classic the best live version
Great reaction, read the lyrics while you react to a song so questions like 'what is this song about?' are not uttered. The song is about a man facing execution by hanging (gallows pole is where you hang people). He faces his own belief system when facing death. Why am I crying if I am not afraid of dying. Why can't I speak? etc, etc.
Chris
you must listen to STARGAZER by RAINBOW if you want to hear a great voice. vocalist italian/american (ronnie james dio)
Bruce's voice and him joining Iron Maiden was what allowed Steve to write such powerful songs, others would "drown" in the middle of that storm of sound. You'll know ( probably you know already) what I mean in the live versions.
if you think this was good, please check out this song live in Toronto, don't have to react to it, but just check it out!
9:00 Correct
Nice one lad's. Yeah, 'Phantom of the Opera' is a killer. Anything off the first two Album's.
Great reaction! Please react to "Iron Maiden - Dance of Death" ❤🤘🏻
LOVED the reaction!! Great song choice and reaction! 🙌😁🔥🔥
Thanks, appreciate that!
their best drummer clive burr rip
Clive was always my favorite too. This studio version is my favorite as well. The 1982 video from London live is a great one as well....but once Nicko McBain came in he changed the drum line slightly and it's never felt the same. When people ask me who my influences are I always say Clive Burr (Yes I'm a drummer too) and not Nicko. I prefer to play the songs off the first 3 albums the most, although Piece of Mind and Powerslave have some of my favorite songs.
@@MonitorAccess Probably as he didn't want to try to 'be' Clive. You're a drummer, you know if you replace a well respected and talented member of a band, you don't try to 'be them'. You try to be a good as they were but with your own stamp. Thats what Nicko did in my opinion. The guy is an incredible drummer in his own right just like Clive was.
I was 14 yrs old and seen the album cover in a record store , had to have it, the whole album is a total classic, but this song to me is my favorite
I just saw them 2 weeks ago....wouldn't know the difference (except that they better live), and Bruce now over 70....
Hallowed be the Name was voted the most influential metal song EVER
Yes they have music Videos that were played on MTV Music Television who don’t play music any more. Mostly on HeadBanger’s Ball. Videos for Run To The Hill, Aces High, Two Minutes To Midnight, etc. Steve Harris considers Iron Maiden a Progressive band not Heavy Metal
Maiden Always best live
Hey guys, great channel!!!, when you get some time check out this song live in '82 at hammersmith. Also, check out their song 'The Trooper', another great story based on true events.
"IRON MAIDEN" was a medieval torture device. they used the name for the name of the band.
If you want to hear a great rif, listen to Flash of Blade, Iron Maiden
Number of the beast !
It’s definitely a must ✨
Great reaction guys...especially you bro in white...the recognition of both guitars harmony. This is the typical feature of IM. Even later on playing 3 solo guitars together. Regarding Steve Harris and his bass galloping, he is the best really. And Bruce ? Right, not fitting to everybody, but his speechy voice, high notes and energy is awesome. As was said try life songs. You will find that a stage presence is the best by IM. What ever life song you chose you do not regret. But the best ones are from Rock in Rio 2001 and Flight 666. Take the journey with tens of greatest heavy metal songs on the earth...BTW Bruce is a successful management presenter, commercial planes pilot and runs worldwide Plane Cargo business...
please react to the Iron Maiden song Killers. it's one of their best songs.
Please do Where Eagles Dare from Iron Maiden next.
I suggest the live version 1982 .
It'll blows your mind
Oh my god
Am on another listener journey.
Lost my virginity 4 days before my first Iron Maiden live concert
What a fucking week.
WORLD SLAVERY TOUR
1984.5
Iron Maiden didn't get the airplay in the '80s because they were considered too heavy at the time in favor of the likes of Def Leppard and even Judas Priest. They earned their popularity almost exclusively thru word of mouth and eclipsing 100 million album sales somewhat recently.
Also have to remember its 38 years old and still Awesome, not many bands can do that.
An Maiden song you do, you are watching greatness. Iron Maiden is the most unique, most talented band ever
Black sabbath
A few from MAIDEN-'Two Minutes To Midnight'; 'Wasted Years'; 'Die With Your Boots On'
guys, you must watch The Who live!! all their performances are brilliant, you’ll be SHOCKED!!!
Love to see more Maiden reactions, but live versions next tme!
My first album ❤
Where is 1982 live version from this???🤔🤔🤔
Bruce Dickenson is not the original singer. If you want to check out a deep cut that few, if any, other reaction channels have done, check out "Prodigal Son" from the second album "Killers". Although it's not a mainstream song that the general public is familiar with, I'm certain that anyone who hears it will be impressed and wonder why the song is not more popular and well known.
Iron Maiden. Pioneers of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Metal gods. Period. Listen to Flight of Icarus and Alexander the Great, too.
Watch any live version of this, u will see why they are still at the top off there game.
Uh! My absolute favorite band and my all-time favorite song! IF a metal song could be beautiful? THIS would be it! And, this whole album is FIRE 🔥 🔥🔥 from front to back! I FKG promise!
So sit back and be in AWE of the Guitar GOD who is Dave Murray and their beast of a drummer, not to mention that Bruce has to be now a legendary rock singer who actually sings! Another GREAT song on this 3rd album is: 22 Acacia Avenue!
On the 4th album: Peace of Mind, "Flight of Icarus."
Just awesome!
Rock on! 😀🤘
Aszneth
PS: this song is about a man on death row awaiting execution!
Listen to the song Keeper Of The Seven Keys by Helloween. You'll love it! It's a rollercoaster of a song.
Good choice. Two Minutes To Midnight or The Trooper are great.
They also have over 20 videos
Live is the only way to listen to Maiden
Great video man
Great song! But guys, Maiden should be seen live... Next Fear of the dark rock in Rio, please. Up the Irons 🤘🏻🔥
The LIVE videos are the way to go with IM...No doubt. Anything from "Rocking In Rio"
Nice. Try the Live vision from 82. Fantastic Live performance.
Fun fact: The expression "heavy metal" is a tribute to Iron Maiden
9:55 I went to about 500 Rock Shows the last 38 years (including 153 Iron Maiden in 30 countries),meeting and talking to so
many,many people.
But this is the first time, somebody's saying he doesn't like Bruce Dickinson's Voice...
No idea. Bruce Dickinson a legend that makes this band complete.
"Still Life"...1983 Maiden..very undercooked song imo.
CHILDREN OF THE DAMMED
QUEST FOR FIRE 🔥
THE REINCARNATION OF BENJAMIN BREEG
2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT
Of those 40 albums, only 16 are original LPs. That is very impressive, but not unprecedented.
Also, the membership has actually been impressively stable. Of the 5 musicians on this song (from their third album) 4 are currently with the band, and the 5th is the drummer who left after this album. His replacement has been with the band more than 35 years. The only changes in those 35 years are that the singer and one guitarist each left for a time (2 nd 3 albums respectively) only to return. And they retained the replacement guitarist and so have been a 3 guitar band since 2000.
Tons of great songs to pick from. Rime of the Ancient Mariner is probably the most impressive (but the second longest song). They are also as good live as in the studio, so you can find live versions for many of their songs that are worth watching, particularly the storytelling songs like Rime and Dance of Death, Pashendale, Fear of the Dark.
Wayyyyy better live
IRON MAIDEN suggestion, "the rhyme of the ancient mariner"
Listen to the trooper, awesome song
React to iron maiden the number of the beast or run to the hills running free wrathchild the trooper flight of icarus aces high caught somewhere in time wasted years stranger in a strange land can i play with madness bring your daughter to the slaughter wicker man
the dog's bollock"s, as we say in england
ps. machine head did a cover
They're still touring also
Was into Steve Harris sow much back then and when Bruce joined, it just ampflies the band way more.
Love your analysing guys!!! Please can you react to any other iron maiden song? And I say any cause I love all of them
Fear of the dark is one you should play but there are so many more.. Please play live versions..
3 lead guitarists: -) The solos are from different plays.
You should invite me. That knows everything about Iron Maiden.
As great as the instruments are it's the lyrics that seal the deal
The Trooper - in Mexico ? S America ?.....frickin banger !
👍👍✌💯
Check out "Aces High"!!
What you just had was good
Bro! Understand what you mean by Bruces vocals. You have to let yourself go. I also prefer a different sound. But if you open your metal mind, you’ll appreciate so much and like it.
the name IRON MAIDEN came from an english torture device
What they say it’s true, they seem like the have already heard enough music but it is the experience to predict the next core ! Except this song ! JAJA 8:11
The best two albums in my opinion were the first two with Paul Di'Anno singing. He was much rawer than Bruce. Check out some of their even earlier stuff. Try Sanctuary for example, the song that got me in to this band.
Frank Zappa Has more than one hundred albums.
Please do iron maiden the clansmen live from rock in rio ,,,you'll be ready to run through a wall !!!!
