This movie is the perfect definition of the "If you really love her, then let her go" and "If she's really for you, then she'll come back". This movie is truly a masterpiece. And I feel like people don't understand the message behind this movie that is very important, specially on the Philippines. It requires a lot of love, strength and sacrifice to do what they did. I don't think a second part is needed because the lesson that this movie gives is what the youth nowadays has to understand. Joy gave up on staying in Hong-Kong with Ethan because she wanted to pursue her dreams, she never wanted to settle for the easiest life and honestly that's amazing. It shows true independence and it shows that we as woman shouldn't be allowed just to marry a man. It proves that we can do and we can be more than that. That's why this movie is by far my favorite one.❤
True! This scene showed us both perspectives. Ethan's rebuttal of "selfish" when Joy decided to pursue her own and yet he did all of these for Joy to make her stay (selfish) triggering Joy to ask "ginawa mo lang lahat ng 'to para piliin kita?" If we really love someone, we really need to set them free 😌 They'll wander around and get lost but they will find their way back to you if it's meant to be.
This scene was heartbreaking, yet so incredibly well acted that I had to watch it twice 💔 There is so much to praise about this film (and usually, I tend to criticize Filipino films): Cathy Garcia-Molina's direction, the cinematography, the tracking shots, the writing--which was realistic of what actual OFW workers and couples go through, the editing where the run time didn't feel too long or too short, and the acting. Oh my word, the acting. I know that Alden and Kath must have been emotionally exhausted from shooting this scene alone. They brought out the best in each other. I'm glad that this movie was made, the fans embraced Kath starring opposite Alden, and this deservedly earned that highest Filipino grossing film of all time.

Almost 4 years na since napanood ko tong movie na to, I was never into local films, pero ito lang yung nag iisang movie na sobrang nakaapekto sakin. Ilang beses ko pang pinanuod ulit. I never thought na after a year, I would also be in the same situation. Iniimagine ko lang before, how would it be in Joy's shoes. Life is such a different shades of colors. This film, in general depicts life, relationship and personal dreams of someone at the cost of inevitable sacrifices, pain, loss and uncertainties. Every sense of this film is truly a masterpiece.

Nung unang pinanuod ko yung movie na nagandahan ako sobraaa pero hindi ako naiiyak pero 2nd time na pinanuod ko sya tapos na realise ko na pag nasa sitwasyon ka pala ni joy na pagiging breadwinner shet sobrang emotional damage. Relate na relate ako dun sa linya na “gusto ko na lang maging selfish”. Ako nga gusto ko na lang ma coma sa sobrang bigat pero kakayanin para mabago yung buhay ng mga kapatid ko kapit laaaaang !

Lesson is, when you love someone learn to set them free. Pabayaan mo sila mahalin din sarili nila sa paraan na gusto nila. Huwag mo sila pigilan na sundan mga pangarap nila. Yun ang sakripisyo na kelangan pag nagmamahal. At the same time, syempre naiintindihan natin insecurity ni Ethan. Nasaktan at iniwan na sya dati. Pano nga kung pagdating sa Canada magbago na isip ni Joy. Eh di dadaan nanaman sya sa parehong sakit? Yan ang gusto ko sa movie na ito. Grounded sya at hindi nya sinunud yun formula ng romcom. In fact yun ending ay bitter sweet. Anong gagawin mo kung may nakilala kang tamang tao para sa iyo, pero hindi naman sila makakatagal. Pipiliin mo bang huwag na lang pumasok sa isang relationship knowing na masasaktan ka lang? O susulitin mo yun panahon na meron ka sa kanila at take ka ng risk.
