Old gold vs New gold. Skills improving.

- This is more of a comparison of how my spraying skills have improved. My suit has much more time put into the prep stages so, even though the gold quality isn't as good, it has better reflective properties. (completely due to prepping the parts, NOT the gold process, which is MUCH better on the parts for Adam's accessories.)
I like the darker gold personally.
I love how helpful you are being with this. I bought a copy of a 3P0 statue from one of the releases years ago. I was going to just repaint it, until I started watching your videos. If it works out, I'm going to try my hand at a 6'3" 220# 3P0 (to add to my long list of "already in progress" costumes)
Thanks so much for documenting and sharing your hard work!
Great comparison video Gordon (I'm going through all your chroming videos right now).
I find your tutorials super detailed and simple to follow!
On a different note if you ever need to use real silver leaf in an area that will not be touched by human skin then be careful of chlorinated water.
I worked on a plastered ornated ceiling that required gold and silver leaf and after some months my silver highlings tarnished to a dark silver tone while the 24kts gold did not... It was close to a water feature that was chlorinated.
Hi Gordon, I'm working on a 3po and have been searching a lot time to try and figure out how to make a weathered chrome finish. Where can I buy products like the ones you are using?
I like the darker one better
+Mark Woodworth unfortunately that one is way darker than the screen used parts.
S do i
Maybe it is just on camera but I think your first attempt looks more accurate, no? Not that the second looks inacurrate, it just that on camera it's seems that C3-PO is darker (unless in episode VII). Great job anyway as usual and good call on getting a comission from Adam Savage! Say hello from France to him for me ok ? ;)
Just the camera. New one is WAY more accurate. I've been able to see multiple screen used costumes close-up and in person at the archives and the new chrome matches them very closely. old is way too dark.
can you explain how you tint it. what brand and stuff. i ve been dying to find how to achieve that finnish. and also will it work on alclad chrome?
I just finished the incognito video, great work man! I'm excited to see the one day build video, to get some closer looks at the weathering and details. Do you have any videos of the actual silver coating process you're talking about?
Gordon.. I'm a big fan, great work. I'm curious what diy C3PO kits are out there to start s build.
Great video. I haven't seen all your videos yet but how do I acquire a C3-PO suit. Are there files somewhere for 3D printing
Thanks

You mentioned in a video a year ago you were going to do a tutorial on this. Couple months back, you said the video was coming. Any plans to completing this tutorial in the next millennia?
