Sweet plane Tim...Nice flying, she looks like she floats in on landing....Great camera work....I hope my P-40 comes out as good next weekend at the Fun-Fly.......
Hey Tim great flight! electric is nice but you cant beat the sounds from a fueled motor just awesome sounds. Thats one nice looking plane great job with the flight.
@oakleymac1 Hi Oakleymac1 great questions so fare I have put 6 flights on her with out any problems with the motor so so for so good. thanks for the complements and support glad you liked it . The Corsair is on deck to be built next just finishing a piper PA-28. I'm planning on a 20-26 CC gas for the model. so will gwt her posted soon..Thanks Man
@saldanajohnI'm just starting the build and using the 110, a 17x10 prop and 2 x 4 cell lipo's. I used the same set up my H9 spit and found it gave a pretty scale performance and very impressive loop heights.
@Vectorp47 yes followed the manual did not deviate from it as far as steps go from what I can remember.. good luck and keep me posted on how it goes..Tim
Great question The FG 36 would be to large, I would recommend using the DLE 20CC you will enjoy the performance, its a 2 stroke and on a 15 X 8 prop the airplane will be fast. Just looks at my Top Flite T-6 Texan Maiden Flight to give you an idea how it will fly and sound. If you want a 4 stroke, the new Saito FG 21 would work well to.. Good luck and I hope this helps.. Thanks for commenting..Tim
Yes I have built airplanes for people, this airplane is a little over 300US dollers and you can get it at Horizon hobbies site good luck and thanks for commenting..Tim
@backintack why thank you for the kind words well she was handling the wind very well 15 mph winds it was me being a little nervous on the controls ..LOl LOL LOL
@TinkerManRC COOL I am still a novice in alot of ways I did not realize that they even made gas engines I will have to look into them... thanks alot have a good one
Well if you can you may want to use the Saito FG 21. The 17 will fly it ok, but I would be worried that it could be a little under powered. Good luck and thanks for commenting..Tim
@hacker8675309 Yes gas can be spendy. The Saito motors have two designations types FA and FG. If its FA its Glow if its FG its gas Just FYI Cool man good luck on your choices and thanks for commenting.. PS I did not as well make it to Tri-Vallys Fly in..
@maccanaut Great Question The FG 20 while you are correct does put a little oil on the fusalage it sure is worth it because of the sound, power, and yes the real mustangs got engine oil on them as well LOL check out my other FG video of her in the play list.. 129MPH great bird I would not change a thing..Good luck on your choices if it were me I know what I would do..Hope this helps..Tim
@hacker8675309 Hi Brain I know what you mean about nitro, it can cost a little LOL! But this bird is 100% Gasoline..Its a 4 Stroke gas engine like a car.. Thanks man for the cool comment and hope all is well.... TIm
@TinkerManRC awesome Gas is the way too go I have been looking at a few gas engines myself but they are kinda spendy.. my next full plane buy will be for a gas engine and a 3d plane to put it on or a warbird still have not made up my mind... I saw saitio and assumed nitro... LOL did you go to tri valley for there show on sep 11th I had to work so I missed it..???
@RCRedBaron Hi Robert Yes I do like the way it flys 100 times better the the electric.. LOL ..LOL I do plane on lots more flights with her Thanks for the Sweeeeet comment.. Awesome Man
YES!!!!!!!!!!! Nice job Tim! Sounds Freakin Awesome! Your first Fuel Plane too! What a great choice! Do you like the way it flies better now versus when it was electric? Of Course you do! Congrats Man!
@kochj0713 LOL it is The Shes doing fine got about 5 flights on her just posting another vid today.. Awesome on your 1.25 Good luck with all those motors let me know how it goes..
@saldanajohn Try a 400kv motor, for example the Scorpion HK4035-400. You run it on a 6S lipo with a 15 or 16x10 prop, or go crazy on a 8S lipo(4S+4S in series) with a 14x10 prop.......I,m doing both :)
@saldanajohn All great questions Both Electric Motors would be a great chice with great power, the FG 20 sounds fantastic. It up to you as to what you would like. I like the gas because its a warbird.. but in any case you could not go wrong with what ever you deside to do she is a great airplane good luck and keep me posted..Tim
Quick question, i am considering getting this plane, but I want to use electric, would you go with the recommended 90 electric or would you use a 110? Or should I just forget electric an go with the fs 20? Also, what size tank you have?
@saldanajohn Hi KS I hve not noticed any problems flying my P-51 Loops and rolls fantastic , not sure why yours would do that. Mine weights in at 12.6 pounds.. Good luck hope you get her dialed in. Tim ..AKA Tink.
I have this plane on order due any day. Agonising over the clean FG20 or the greasy FA100. I want the harley sound of the 4 stroke but i hate the cleaning up. Decisions decisions. The cheapy ASP sounds good but unsure of reliability, although i have an ASP 61 FS thats never deadsticked. Donno which to get. :-$
I just ordered up the equiv. walbro 456 in a Zama carb...30$ for 2-of them... May try it on my OS 1.60 gemini twin 1st... And then order up couple more carbs for the saito 1.25. There is a gentleman that made a needle bearing setup for the saito 1.25 conrod may see if he can do the same for mine... cheers.
I am considering building the Hanger9 P-51 Bluenose. I would like to go with the recommended Saito FA-125A. Can I use a 4 bladed prop with this as you did with the electric motor?
Hey... This looks like my TCRC flying site?? How is the fg20 going? Have a 1.25 and thinking about converting to gas, but Horrizon doesn't have any carbs for this one... Still back ordered.. I am ordering a DLE20 today....
Tinker, forgive me if you already mentioned this as i did not read all the posts, but have you gauged top speed with your setup in this plane yet?? Sooo Beautiful man nice flight and landing.
Hello can you tell me if you build airplanes for people?and how much does the airplane cost when i buy it in the shop? Greetings from the Netherlands, Nathanael
TinkerMan, I finally got mine, but I used a dle 20, it was supposed to be less weight. I had my trainer fly her and he said, "Every time I try to do a loop, it snaps", he told me he has never flown a worse model. Tinker, does your snap when you try to loop? What total weight are you flying with? Thanks KS
Qual seria a causa? Obrigado por enviar seus videos, são fantásticos, Romão. Você pode me dar informações de como voar bem este motor.
Hi again Tim. You are right, that gas engine does sounds great. I wanted to buy this, but another member beat me to it.Our club is electric only because of noise by-laws. Is the Hangar 9 Blue Nose P-51 a difficult plane to fly? We have a member in our club with one, but we still haven't seen him fly it yet. My Zero flies like it's on rails. It's very fast and agile. It takes 3/4 of the grass runway to land using flaps. Take-offs are easy.
Its not difficult to fly , its a real nice flyer, it might be if you have not flown a warbird before or tail dragger. Just stay on the rudder for take off and landing and don't let it get to slow on landing. It will fly similar to your Zero with a little difference in gound handing .. Thanks for commenting ..Tim
Nice flying, I just gi t the new p-51d, can't wait to get it in the air.I did a quick vid, could u watch it and tell me what u think, I'd really appreciate your opinion.
If you can't get the engine running right, try reviewing the engine manual, I recommend sending back to Horizon Hobby if it continues to give you problems.
Hello Tim, good morning. I have a FG20 and I'm having trouble adjusting the engine to flight, what you could let me know so I can adjust the FG20 and fly well What gasoline you use, what is the battery 4.7v or 6,0v. Check the Low speed idea and Hi Speed Its been a while since I have done this because I know longer have this engine .Factory settings for the main and low-speed needle valves are as follows. • Main needle valve: Turn the needle valve all the way clockwise, then back out 2 turns and 15 minutes. • Idle needle valve: With the throttle barrel closed, turn the needle valve all the way clockwise, then back out 4 turns and 15 minutes. This is from the Manual .. You can use the FG21 Manual..Good Luck ..Tim
Hello Tim, Good night! thank you for your attention, I am very happy! You can tell me if I can use avgas aviation gasoline containing lead, or only regular gasoline. Regular gasoline in Brazil, tains Ethanol alcohol mixture containing water, this can hinder the regulation of FG20? I would be very happy if you guided me to. Thanks for listening .. Romao
Hello Tim. I am happy with your attention and the information that you gave me, I'm sure this will be very useful. Thank you, and good flights! Errado?

Hi Tim, I just finished assembling my Hangar 9 Blue Nose with a Saito FG21 up front. The plane turned out to be quite nose heavy, even without any fuel in the tank. Is yours nose heavy as well, or did you add some weight to the tail section of the plane? I sure don't want to take any risks! Luc
Hi Luc From what I can remember, I did have to move the batteries to the tail it. Just make sure you CG it out and if it need weight in the tail you can move the battery back as I did . Good luck she is a nice plane..Tim
