I feel the connection that Stretch mentioned was not to take any credit for the evolution of house being solely on the existence of hip-hop ! His standpoint is merely on how they all helped each other to grow and evolve! That seems a legitimate point!
i would agree that they are related, i would probably say more like cousins but they are still very different in philosophy - house is a bit more collaborative, circles are a place of sharing if they exist at all, what has happened is an influx of hip hop heads (like me) into house initially during the late 80's and with us we injected some hip hop philosophies but loft heads and garage heads are still around and still get down and their philosophies are very different. one.
a lot of times dance historians will say house dance is a part of hip hop dance - it's not as stretch alludes to here. the styles are totally different, the philosophy behind them are a bit different.
well actually in a way house and hip hop r like brothers except with different origins but in the end they connect with each other and in a way become one culture so yes hip hop dance and culture r found in house dance and culture.
