@@thatfitfriend both. Life exacerbated autoimmune stuff. It’s not so bad anymore as I’ve learned to handle it. It’s been happening more frequently recently so I need a checkup and possibly a referral to a cardiologist for confirmation.

You know it's the modified gate that I have trouble with when I switch back and forth from different styles. I have a hard enough time avoiding slamming my healing to the ground just from 50 years of walking the way that I have been. I found it very difficult to understand how to walk while contacting the mid foot not the heel strike. The big revelation that I had to barefoot walk successfully is to not overstride by flexing the hip within flexed knee rather than an extended knee. Was to lift the knee not the foot. Once I did that I could avoid the heel strike without feeling like I had to lift the heel.
I think the most important thing to maintain with the barefoot style of walking or running is the zero drop shoe if we have to choose one thing. The wide toe ox is important and the flexibility of the entire shoes and minimal sole to allow some ground feel are all important but nothing maintains the barefoot gait like the zero drop flat soles.

The why is because they're better for you than these things that deform your feet and cause issues... so I'd say going "full hard 'O' " would be best

@@titchsteedman-io4me god speed, you missed the whole point. The point is to rotate and not force yourself into one style of footwear. Youre running a marathon, you’re using barefoot shoes? Probably not and the amount of time to acclimate and build that tissue integrity wouldn’t be worth it/may never happen for some so why box yourself in? You can gain the benefits without going full…

I only wear barefoot shoes because squish underfoot hurts my lateral arches. Even minimal zero drop shoes don't cut it. Something as small is about 2mm of eva can cause an issue for me, which is why I don't like insoles. My Primus Lite without insoles give me no lateral arch problems but to be fair neither do my Birks or my Red Wing 875's. Neither have any squish.
I just can't do squishy shoes for whatever reason.
My wife, on the other hand, hates barefoot shoes. Even dislikes toe room...She is a converse all day, everyday kind of person. That or flip flops. Lol. To each their own.

@@kitcraft9516 exactly it! To each their own. The scare tactics and all or none language is so dumb. It’s the equivalent of telling someone they’ll never grow their legs if they don’t back squat - many ways to approach this!
