Thanks for the detailed review! Might have to try out those Origo shoes. Had a first gen pair of Icarus shoes I loved (destroyed in the rain 😪), but in a size 12 I found them to look kind of huge on me. Also the Birchbury Bramford is another one that might be worth checking out!

I have the Tolos and Icarus. Both are fantastic. On your point about the Tolos not being the best for high instep people I would mostly agree but compared to the 1.0s they are worlds better. I basically could never do legs in the 1.0 because the upper was too tight and caused cramping. I have yet to cramp up in the 2.0s but I haven't really pushed those on a leg day.
I have these in white and wear them to the office almost daily. They’re durable and easy to clean. FWIW I have a narrow foot and don’t find them too wide. They also come with a pair of toe separators. Be aware that the shipping time is at least two weeks. 🙁

The Xero Dillon in white was my first barefoot shoe. I got them last summer, put them away for the fall and winter, and just got them back out again in the past month or two. I barely wear them and they're just yellow and dirty and not so nice looking. The laces are also way too long for them, I really should swap them out for shorter ones. Nice shoe, just a bit of a bummer. I like the Splay Freestyle shoes that I got later on, so perhaps next time I buy a white shoe, I might go with white Freestyles in canvas or leather, or maybe check out some other options. Great video. Thank you. I’ve been wearing Vivos for a while now. But now I’m looking for a sneaker/trainer with zero drop. All my vivos I’m starting to talk through. I love the vivo firm ground but I walk the tread off them too. Any suggestions on something that I won’t walk the tread off in 500 miles?
I need some advice: I'm looking for a waterproof barefoot trail shoe to use for golf. The vivo all weathers are only water resistant at best. The only other one that exists that I know of is the xero mesa trail WP. Am I missing something or is there a HUGE gap in the market here? Currently golfing in the true 1.2's, but the stack height is a little more than I'd like and the upper is super rigid.
Not a lot of waterproof options out there - you're def not missing anything. Question, have you thought about waterproofing them yourself? Could try applying something on the Vivos to see if that helps a bit? Could also try a Trail Knit FG then waterproof em yourself. Will get more aggressive slugs then to prevent slip!
@@thatfitfriend I've thought about waterproofing them myself (or applying extra waterproofing to the vivo all weathers). I appreciate you catering to us wide foot folks. I have to ask since I have an insanely wide and flat foot (seriously it's shaped like brick,) what is the widest shoe with a wide toe box? I've tried on the Xero Prio Neo and I feel like if they had a "wide" model it would have been perfect, but so far, everything I've tried has my pinky toe or foot hanging off the insole. I tried a random new balance in 4E, but then the toe box wasn't wide enough. It's really frustrating!
@@thatfitfriend Sweet! I bought a pair and will see how they do. It looks like they might be half a centimeter narrow according to their size chart, but that's probably the best I can do so I'll take it.
Buuuuut, which one is best for dance classes I wonder? Zumba and other types of dance, or even Aerobics. That's what I would like to know. I.e. not too much grip, a shoe you can do turns in without the shoe sticking to the floor when you do a turn so you risk damaging your knee. Also one that doesn't squeak when you slide or turn (my Xero Prios, stick and squeak on the dance class wood floor). Any advice? 🙂
Hi Jake! I love your videos. They are very detailed and you talk fast. I'm new to barefoot shoes and forming an addiction. I have 2 pairs of Whittin's, one for gym and one for casual. I have a pair of the Vivo Asani's for work but I won't be able to wear for 12 hours at a time yet. I recently ordered a pair of Flux adapt running shoes. I have a 25.3 centimer long feet. Do you think they run true to size? I have feet that are almost wide according to hoka style etc. I ordered a 10 but may need a 9 or 9.5. I wanted another pair of intermediate barefoot shoes. I'm leaning to the Lems Primal 3. I need a shoe that has decent traction to prevent sliding on concrete or laminate flooring and a little cushion. Do you have several brands that you could reccomend? Ty Also, I think that Mr. Beast resembles you!!
Haha, I do talk a bit too fast at times. So much info to get through. Flux runners run a smidge long, imo. 9.5 would probably be the safer bet. I'd also look into the Lems Primal Zen for that ask! Could also explore the Altra Solstice XT 2 model if you want something more training with a bit more midsole!
I am so excited that you replied. Just so you know I was not trying to be negative about your talking fast I think it's great. I also talk very fast. Since I'm a beginner with barefoot shoes, do you think the Lems Primal Zen will be more comfortable than the Primal 2 or 3? I actually bought a pair of the discontinued Primal 2's last night. I will have the Flux adapt trainer, Lems Primal2, and Asani's that I can trade back and forth with. ( I am an Rn an work 12 hour shifts) I really want to get a pair of Dillon's down the road. The Feel Grounds move style look nice also. Will you have any new Barefoot videos coming out soon? Thanks!!!
What's do you recommend for someone with a loe foot profile who doesn't wear socks? I've returned vivos and xeros because there was so much space and extra material near the strings I couldn't get a tight fit!
Hey dude! Love your videos! Awesome in-depth reviews! I had a quick question. I am looking for shoes for flat feet, not too broad, but definitely need a versatile shoe for jumping, lateral movement, general cross fit and general gym workout. Do you have any recommendations?
I live in Korea. I always enjoy your reviews. I'm wearing a US9 size DZ-1 with the insole removed, can you recommend what size I should wear for this product? My feet are 268mm. Thank you.
@@thatfitfriend just bought the asana now. Also got the trial knit and Primus knit for my wife when I picked up the trail weeks ago. We are wearing the trial for rucking.
Lots of brands here I've never heard of - and yet still none look anywhere near wide enough for me. I continue really to have only one viable choice, Softstar Primal/Wide models, and not even all of them.
@@thatfitfriend Thank you! As it happened, right after watching your video, I had a look through the Be Lenka website. Their Velocities and some other models are about the same measurements as the Wide Softstar models - which actually means (I didn't say this before) that they'll work perfectly for me if I go a size up. Not sure how I failed to spot this before. It's probably that so many of their shoes are a lot narrower than that, so I probably checked one of those and said, 'Ah, not for me.'
@@thatfitfriend yeah the dropset is amazing I watched your interview about it and I'm eager to watch your review for the rapidmove , I wonder is it rapidmove specifically for cross fit ?
I rotate to prevent stink! Usually do a 2:1 sock to no sock wear flow, but that can vary depending on temperature, my mood, and if I have socks clean, lol. Diff uppers will trap heat differently and feet can vary in temps, so keep an eye on that.
How is vivo sizing vs Nanos (Primus Lite and X1 specially in my case)? My Nanos are a 10 but probably should have gone 10.5. A bit worried of jumping all the way to 11 on Vivos though.
@@thatfitfriend Thanks, I actually ended up ordering a pair in 10 from Amazon. Length is spot on, and the toe box is good, but these are super narrow in the forefoot. I have to run them without insoles. I think I don't have a vivo shapped foot.
I’m going on a trip to DC soon and I want some super comfy walking shoes. I’ve been wanting some barefoot style shoes too is there something that covers both of those things
Do you want something that's uber minimalist or with a little cushion? If you want a little more cushion but still want a "barefoot" shoe, go with the Lems Primal/Zen or Icarus Ascent Gen 2!
I haven't made a specific video for that, but I train in most of these without socks and rotate between sock and sockless use. If you have Qs on specific models, ask away!
I have the white Dillon, and I can confirm that it's a nightmare to keep them clean. I ended up tossing them in the washing machine every month. They'd come out almost as new.
I rescue converse shoes that people plan on throwing out. If you're about to throw these out, keep in mind that I collect and rescue old converse so let me know if you're interested. It's beneficial to me because I like giving old things a second chance in life as well as helping the environment. I only rescue high, low, mid top and shoreline, not seventies, platforms and slimfit
... My take. I would stop looking at that topic from a black and white POV, imo. Wayyyyy too many folks using their own personal opinions to harp on shoes "ruining" feet. This is why I don't love the barefoot shoe diehards, tbh. They leave little room for discussion on a topic that's multifactorial. Not to mention, the verbiage "ruin" "destroy". etc. etc. builds a bias in folks heads who may not know enough to ask more + better questions.
@@thatfitfriend i cant speak for other folks but i grew up feeling uncomfortable showing my feet. It just felt weird, like a private part, so i always wore shows. Or kept socks on and im now noticing the effects. Obviously some people have a healthy balance of shoes on shoes off so they are fine in any shoe. I still dont want to walk around barefooted so im asking do socks alone have the same potential to ruin your feet?
@@miguelramirez4772 I included them, I also have a sh*t ton of content covering them on my channel and best Vivo videos…wanted to add variety here for strong performers
Yeah, that's often the issue with these cheap white labeled models. Little things like that can lack. The HFS 2 can be a great pick if you want a shoe for training/running
@@thatfitfriend it also tends to cram my toes slightly, do you know if the hfs 2 has wider toebox, I know you said to size 1/2 box. They’re have a huge sale right now.
@@an.20.24 eh, I’ve included them in past lists and I like them, but at the end of the day they’re Not bad, not great. Better looking options that perform similarly.
Inov8 Bare XF tend to do great, so do Lems models and certain Vivo models like the Motus Strength. It really depends what you're after, though, and how you plan to use them. What are you main asks?
I don't like Origo's, I've had both a leather and canvas one and the soles start separating on the side after less than a month, waste of money for how quickly they fall apart
I rotate depending on what I'm doing. I'll typically reach for some thin no-show socks like the Motee and Zconia that I've reviewed here on the channel. Cheap, breathable, and tend to last a while! I'll go sockless on warmer day or when the barefoot shoe fits more sock-like like the Tolos/Inov-8 Bare XF

Hit you back on my other vid :)
Ty
Also, I think that Mr.
( I am an Rn an work 12 hour shifts)
I really want to get a pair of Dillon's down the road.
TYR DropZero Laced or Inov-8 Bare XF!
Hey dude! Love your videos! Awesome in-depth reviews! I had a quick question. I am looking for shoes for flat feet, not too broad, but definitely need a versatile shoe for jumping, lateral movement, general cross fit and general gym workout. Do you have any recommendations?
After barefoot shoes or training shoes?
I'd go with training.. would love to know your recommendation
I live in Korea. I always enjoy your reviews. I'm wearing a US9 size DZ-1 with the insole removed, can you recommend what size I should wear for this product? My feet are 268mm. Thank you.
Which model?
@@thatfitfriend ㅜㅜ I was looking at radix product reviews and wrote here. Notorious Radix
I have the motus for gym and trial knit 3 fg for daily driver now,.
Heck yeah!
@@thatfitfriend just bought the asana now. Also got the trial knit and Primus knit for my wife when I picked up the trail weeks ago. We are wearing the trial for rucking.
Have you tried feelsground luxe? And how would they compare to the origo
I have!
Written review: thatfitfriend.com/feelgrounds-original-luxe-review/
I like the Origo better, tbh. Better upper fit/outsole seems more durable
Lots of brands here I've never heard of - and yet still none look anywhere near wide enough for me. I continue really to have only one viable choice, Softstar Primal/Wide models, and not even all of them.
@@JohnMoseley check out the Be Lenka Velocity, I reviewed those after this list!
Hey bro which models would be best for treadmill or pavement walking 10k steps a day? My foot is on the more narrow side. Thanks 👍
Go Inov8 Bare XF - should get enough upper security from them! Tolo Arch 2.0 can also work well!
@@thatfitfriend Much appreciated Jake
@@travisn346 got you 🤝
You know any good brands/models that has a real durable outsole for running/sports?
A bunch can work - Inov8 Bare XF and Xero Shoes Zelen/HFS 2 are some solid options to start exploring
hi Jake I wanna ask you regarding Adidas zx k1 it working for cross training and hit , crossFit workouts ?
Stack height may be a smidge high for that context. Have you considered Dropset 2 or RapidMove?
@@thatfitfriend yeah the dropset is amazing I watched your interview about it and I'm eager to watch your review for the rapidmove , I wonder is it rapidmove specifically for cross fit ?
May be a weird question. But do you wear socks with these? Going to buy the Bare XF for my training sessions
Go 10 in Vivo. The Primus models run long typically
@@thatfitfriend Thanks, I actually ended up ordering a pair in 10 from Amazon. Length is spot on, and the toe box is good, but these are super narrow in the forefoot. I have to run them without insoles. I think I don't have a vivo shapped foot.
Ok, I've watched several of your videos (well done) and now want to ask what shoe you recommend for a men's size 9-9.5 EEE width in zero drop?
Before I answer - what have you tried and how did those models fit? A little more context and I can get more specific!
What do you think of the PRIMUS line?
I like them! Have a best Primus video coming out soon and have reviewed nearly every model
I have seizures but hate canvas shoes and need shoes that bend like leather. Strong support but comfy is hard for me to find
What barefoot would you recommend thats good for powerlifting specifically for bench and sumo? Something with grip and durable preferred
AVANCUS Apex Power V2 / Notorious Lift Radix!
@@thatfitfriend now would they also be good for everyday wear as well or would the vivio motus strength check off all 3 boxes better?
@@blicky4slumpz372 notorious would! Motus also could, just much more expensive
Did you go over the best barefoot shoe for training without socks ?
I haven't made a specific video for that, but I train in most of these without socks and rotate between sock and sockless use. If you have Qs on specific models, ask away!
@@thatfitfriendthanks! which shoe do you feel is the most comfortable without socks on or off of this list?
I guess specifically the tyr zero drop with laces
I have the white Dillon, and I can confirm that it's a nightmare to keep them clean. I ended up tossing them in the washing machine every month. They'd come out almost as new.
Haha, they are dirt MAGNETS! Stoked they're working for you
I rescue converse shoes that people plan on throwing out. If you're about to throw these out, keep in mind that I collect and rescue old converse so let me know if you're interested. It's beneficial to me because I like giving old things a second chance in life as well as helping the environment. I only rescue high, low, mid top and shoreline, not seventies, platforms and slimfit

Are socks ruining our feet too or just the shoes??
What about vivabarefoot shoes? Did we forget them?
@@miguelramirez4772 I included them, I also have a sh*t ton of content covering them on my channel and best Vivo videos…wanted to add variety here for strong performers
@9:04 bobbing my head as I'm wearing my army green pair of mesh Whitin's at the gym...lol
Ayyy!
Anyone like wearing barefoot shoes for CrossFit? I’m still debating. For jumping it’s definitely a lil hard for my feet and legs.
Yes and I love my Inov8 Bare XFs. You will have to acclimate yourself to m
Here and there I do! Bare Xf as mentioned above are great, so are the Motus Strength!
Best begginer barefoot shoes please! (Cushioned) 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'd go Inov8 Bare XF. Should be solid and has enough cushioning to help you ease in.
Xero HFS 2 can also work
Just got the whitin shoe, they’re very streaky sounding, it’s quite annoying
In terms of barefoot shoes I want to try whiten or the hfs2 which you said to size up on
Yeah, that's often the issue with these cheap white labeled models.
I just want some more vapour glove 4’s 😢 RIP.
Anyone selling em on Poshmark?
No Xero?
@@an.20.24 eh, I’ve included them in past lists and I like them, but at the end of the day they’re Not bad, not great. Better looking options that perform similarly.
@@thatfitfriend What do you think is the best barefoot shoe for running or jogging?
Which barefoot shoes have the most durable, long lasting soles?
Inov8 Bare XF tend to do great, so do Lems models and certain Vivo models like the Motus Strength.
It really depends what you're after, though, and how you plan to use them. What are you main asks?
I don't like Origo's, I've had both a leather and canvas one and the soles start separating on the side after less than a month, waste of money for how quickly they fall apart
@@ImJustStandingHere have you reached out to them to get them replaced? Anything like that within a few weeks should be covered
More maui!!!
Never a bad thing!
Do you wear socks with your barefoot shoes?
I rotate depending on what I'm doing. I'll typically reach for some thin no-show socks like the Motee and Zconia that I've reviewed here on the channel. Cheap, breathable, and tend to last a while!
I'll go sockless on warmer day or when the barefoot shoe fits more sock-like like the Tolos/Inov-8 Bare XF
