These lamps are brilliant but above all atmospheric and so cosy at night. They seem to burn forever on a tankful if the wick is not turned up silly high.. Had mine for a couple of years now and absolutely love it.
Fantastic looking Feuerhand lantern & yup getting one for Christmas from W.T. kirkman lanterns & can’t wait to have a Feuerhand lantern in my collection! 🙂👍
I just ordered one of these for fun and of course in case of power outages. I'd never heard of the brand but immediately recognised the name as German and checked them out. There are lots of no-name Chinese lanterns out there for around £10 - 30% of the price of a Feuerhand - but I want something well made and reliable that will last for years.
The Feuerhand is the best oil lantern made today by far and worth every penny. The only advice I'd give to this video is your wick is way to high! Keeping the wick under the flame spreader will actually give you more light and keep your wick from burning up to fast. As air is ran down the air tubes it comes up from under the burner and feeds the fire with lots of cold air. Keeping the wick under the cone mixes that cold air with the flame and makes the flame burn higher and brighter.E very careful. Fire Hand is a Chinese knockoff and ain't worth a damn. The real German made Feuerhand is pretty expensive but the quality is the best. Dietz is also China made now too. If it's two words and says Fire Hand. It's not German made. If you are in the USA order from Lehman's Hardware or W. T. Kirkman. The real Feuerhand also uses a European style, metric wick. The standard 1/2 American wicks are to wide for the burner. Lehman's Hardware is the only place I know that carries the real Feuerhand made, metric size wick for the Feuerhand 276 Baby Special.
Recently ordered one after hearing dietz and finding out they were German named but made in China thin glass and thin metal. Looking like a good decision getting fire hand.
Wow! Thank you so much! Your tip made it so much better. I keep the wick under the dome and slowly turn it up and get a taller flame than just janking it up and the wick sticking out a lot. Now I understand why the flame only stayed quite high for only 10 sec. before as it was just burning the wick.
@@bobbyvandam74 Glad to hear. One more thing, your flame never should be taller than the globe guards. If it's taller than that you'll get a lot of smoke, you can put burn spots on the globe and you'll burn through your wick to fast.
@@joshuaharrington6094 Not higher than the globe guards, got it! Thanks again, you just increased my already positive experience with this wonderful lamp. Strange Feuerhand does not tell you about these two tips in their manual.
Nice. It's always good to trim the wick to make it perfectly smooth. Some also cut it into a upside down V shape but in real life it does not make a big difference.
The wick is way too tall. Lower the wick so it is contained within the domed burner. Beautiful lantern. I have 4 but none in the olive color. Very nice
Hi @johnspartan7103, watch in this video: Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000, great watch and one of my favourite. Thanks for checking my channel and I appreciate good feedback 🤠👍🏻
When you trim your wick for a lantern, trim it into an arrow head configuration. You will have much better light this way and your WIC will last longer, not to mention the fuel itself.
I own two of these, a red and a blue, and they're beautifully made. Unusual to me because they paint their burner covers whereas others leave then galvanized or 'gold' plate. Of course, Feuerhand started by making a copy of the American Dietz introduced a few decades earlier. No matter, as there were several other great brands also made at the time. My biggest reservation with these is their tiny size. They're fine for one individual in a small room, but that's it. One needs to go to one of the large Dietz models, like the Jupiter (great) or Air Pilot (equally great) with a 7/8" wick and much greater output and longer run time. Fine review!
I've been testing lanterns for several months antique and new manufactured. I used Aladdin lamp oil and Kleen Heat kerosene alternative fuel. I love all of the lanterns that I have bought. The Feuerhand 276 that is a newly manufactured lantern seems to be my favorite. The Feuerhand is small and handy. It puts out great light with not much smell. I've chosen the Feuerhand to be my go to lantern 🔥
@@adelarsen9776 Great choice. You will be very satisfied. I have one of my Feuerhand lanterns burning right now. I am enjoying the flame. There is something very satisfying about the fire and light and small amount of heat.🔥👍
@@stevenkimsey7039 In the 3-4 hours before bed it's good to see fire light instead of bright light from a screen. It reduces cortisol and aids healthy sleeping. Enjoy :-)
They're the highest quality ones you can buy so it will last you for many years with a little care. I have two that date back to before WW2 and they're both in perfect working condition.
@@mariohabits No, you push the glass up and blow the flame out, because turning it out might make the wick fall into the container below and then it is stressful to get it out and place it back into the turny thing
Beautiful looking lantern with some great heritage.

Thank you for this. I’ve just bought three In the UK as there is a lot of confusion in regards to power in the coming months.
good move!
Had the same thought
I did the exact same thing :)
I just emailed a friend in UK and told him to buy one of these along with some kerosene, spare wick and some matches.
Same! Also in the UK and stocking up on a variety of oil lamps!
Awesome. I just bought one! So happy!! thank you man
Great videos, really enjoying them all! Just ordered my Feuerhand in military green. It looks like a great thing!
I got mine yesterday, I love it already.
Beautiful old-school lantern, thanks for the review and operation of it , thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Nicely done!

Thank you. Good review.
We have four of the Farehand lanterns, they are awesome! No leaks everything works really well and the globe is top-notch
Great job on the video 👍👍

I always loved the glow of a paraffin lantern .
Great video. Trim the top of the wick for an even burn flame. Now…tell us about your cool looking watch.

When you tilt the lamp, does the connection part between air tube and the tank leak oil?

how much light do they produce?
you can hold your finger over the hole of the bottle to stop the liquid coming out until you want it to...
Are they safe for indoor use? Thank you
Yes it's safe to use indoors if you're following safety procedures and using indoor burning liquid.
@@mariohabits I am using safe oil and thank you so much for your lovely fast reply :)
What about in a tent 2 man on my own?
Be aware that these models produce a lot of soot/smells that can be unpleasant indoors
That is expensive to me… just ordered one though, I couldn’t help myself 👍🏻

A dummie question:how do you turn it off?
Hi Maria, to turn this lantern off you need to pull burning wick down.
Thank you!!!

If yours don't have a toggle switch just pull the wires apart 🦧
no one likes a smart azz 😝
It's pretty cool 👍✌🙏
I got two of them with extra wicks
Can you comfortably read a book by it's light?
I may get two once inflation goes down.
It's great until you turn the lights off
Don't use lamp oil...parrafin oil or in German Petroleum
