Three hours of Ketsui, so much information! I like how you even went the extra step to cover the various ports and arranges, and using clips from so many different superplayers. A Shmup Bible is definitely what this is.

Absolutely superb video.What a gift the net and this channel is.IBack in the day I used to buy strategy guides for games in magazine shops that were no way near as thorough or of course interactive as this.Have already started downloading some of these players replays on that awesome M2 ps4 port, although I personally would be satisfied with just a decent run of the first loop sometime in the future.The game is still new to me but I think it has already become my favourite cave shmup along with Mushihimasama.

Playing for survival is fun, you see some players invalidating that way of play, but it's the main entry point in the genre

would love to see this for just about every cave game, as well as ikaruga, and even indie games like crimzon clover, zero ranger, devil engine and blue revolver! (the indie games def deserve more love, and might be a lot easier to make, too)

Thanks to Shmupjunkie I found your channel, love it too. I kinda found my new gaming niche. I never really liked shmups because of the difficulty, but now that I've played so many games, finding a new challenge to tackle is just perfect. Why talk about Dark Souls if you have Shmups 😆.

Great video, as always! On the 1-3 mid-boss you can actually die but you can't bomb. I've never no-missed it without bombing but I get the 1-up sometimes.
I need to buy the PS4 version asap.

@@TheElectricUnderground I've recently imported Esp Ra De by M2 Shottrigers. It was expensive, but damn is it such an awesome game. Full comprehensive English translation of the menu and manual would definitely help, but I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet.
Mishiko Mishiko google translate app for phone helps, just point your camera at the screen. Other than that google it on the shmups forum, someone has probably translated the menus

38:10 that's crazy to watch. I have a lot of trouble with the stage 2 boss' diagonal bullet patterns too. Rarely I get lucky but usually I have to use a bomb or die.
Yes that is a surprisingly advanced dodge so early on, I'd recommend save stating it and getting used to the diagonal drift!

Over and up should get you through for the most part. I haven’t perfected it yet but, if you can stay over the shell casing and get into the top of the corner which it’s going. The bullets will stop just before making contact but, like I said I’m still playing around with it so it’s not guaranteed everytime.
If Dodonpachi is Genesis then Ketsui is Luke and Rolling Gunner is Revelations.
Just got around to watching this. Really good, refrain somewhat borrowed the proximity of kill dictates value of enemy drop set up it seems like.

I’m trying to get the Bonds Of Grand Mastery trophy but I’m stuck. I can’t get Bond Fragments to populate in Bonds of Growth. I have 68k points in that mode (2 background characters unlocked) and I need 100k (all 4 unlocked). It shows all gold trophies and it never populates with new Bond Fragments. Does anyone have this trophy and can help? This is the last trophy I need but I’m not sure what to do. Thanks.
Oh good question!! Sadly my version is all in japanese so I have no idea what the trophies say. Sounds like an interesting challenge though!

Whenever I watch a good player play ketsui it always seems they have a stronger weapon than when I play. There must be an aura effect that kills enemies quicker at point blank range surely!? I always feel underpowered to clear everything.
Yeah aggressive point blanking is the name of the game!
I'm a big fan of your channel Mark and love the stuff you produce. However, in this case I do have to say that, as a fairly new player who's getting into shmups, this vid seemed a little odd and inaccessible. Bit strange how you go from "ok, these are the basic systems of the game" straight to, "now lets look at the world's best players using all kinds of complex tech and highly optimised routes". Felt like it would have been great to just show a couple of 'normal' level replays from average humans first to give the super-plays some context.All I mean is, I couldn't tell if you were trying to make a video for people who didn't know Ketsui, or one for veterans.
Lots of great info though, don't get me wrong. Definitely enjoyed it and am interested in the checking out the game.
Well there was some funny business with the recording sadly, this was streamed live on twitch and twitch kept dieing during the stream and so big chunks of the vid are just gone, so that s why it s as wierd as it is :-( that s why I m never doing a shmup saga on twitch ever again. Keep an eye out for the doj shmup saga though! It s going to be a big improvement
