    Nice review. I got the G95 the year it came out, waited for it to come below 1,100 new. Have been very happy with it. Got it to upgrade my G7 but still have and use both.

    I've been tempted by Panasonic Micro 4/3s for some time now. I just spotted the G95 from B&H for $699. It comes with the G95, the 12-60mm lens, a 128GB Memory Card, a case, and a UV Filter. It was too good a deal to pass up, so I went for it. It should arrive in 2 days.
    About 5 years ago I went a Panasonic event where I could try out their M4/3s cameras. I was very impressed by the G85, but I didn't go out and purchase one at the time. Now I'm getting the improved model.

    Both great cameras, recently managed to lose my GH5 ii camera so back to using my G90 for now, I think the G90 is great for what it is and a fantastic travel and reconnaissance camera but G90 has had some fantastic updates, good to see both cameras holding their own.

    The G9 was my entree in the Micro4/3 world, and your appraisal of it matches my own, fantastic value for the money -particularly appreciate the viewfinder as an eyeglass wearer, and being weather-sealed it's always good to go. I also have Olympus and Fuji, but the G9 is my 'A' camera.

    I had the G90 -as it is called in Europe- but sold it and bought a Nikon DSLR. After view months I regret and decided to go for the G9. And yes I agree for the G90 there is no recording limit in 4K but dealing with the crop factor can be annoying. So even with the recording limit on the G9 I will go for it. Thumbs up for the nice video.

      I thought about that and a few other things like IBIS afterwards. I wish I knew more about color grading. I play with exposure in Davinci, but haven’t been brave enough to shoot in a log profile yet. Any tips would be welcome. I know 10 but allows colors not to fall apart but only vaguely understand.

    There is a lot to like about the G90. It is a better vlogging and social media camera that the G9. Has modes that manufacturers deem "ammateur" like panorama mode, which makes it very useful to me. I love its better in-camera editing, lighter weight, unlimited recording, and the 4K crop, similar to the GH4, helps extend tele reach. It makes it a very complimentary camera to the G9.

    Thank you for the review. Both of these cameras are on my short list. The Sony a6600 is another. If you could have just one camera and one lens, and cost differences were not the deciding factor, which body and lens would you choose? For still photography (I will be doing a lot of wildflower and macro photography, and color fidelity and ability to capture subtle colors and nuances are high priorities for me.)

    • @cameranewb3878
      @cameranewb3878  Год назад

      I would use Sony A6600 with the 18-200 if I could have one choice. I was going through my photos and that lens, which isn’t considered so great because the aperture starts at 3.5, did the most amazing shots. Second choice for lens is Sigma 18-50. Stunning colors on that one. LUMIX G95 with the 12-60 kit lens is amazing. So many good choices

    I also bought a used immaculate G9 but to replace a G6 and G7. I sometimes regret not getting a G95 because it has a pop-up flash and what I miss most on G9, the Panorama auto-stitching mode. For the life of me I cannot understand why a top of the range camera has these features deleted from the spec. Yes, the G9 has dual fast card slots but as an enthusiast not a professional wedding photographer, it’s of no significance and neither is the 60P 4K shooting mode.

    I think it would have been a better review if you talked about the big differences in autofocus modes (human and animal on G9, focus near or far priority; g95 has only dace/eye detect but can't track bodies or turned-away faces, no animal detect, etc.) and frame rates (no crop 1080p at 180 fps on G9 with autofocus vs 1080p at 120fps on G95 with no autofocus, 6k photo mode vs 4k on G95, and 20fps RAW burst and pre-burst on G9 vs 11 fps RAW and no pre-burst on G95). Also would have been good to have you explore video autofocus differences in continuous AF situations. I'm a G95 owner and think it's a great camera for hybrid stills + video but surely the G9 is quite a bit more capable on virtually every other front except for record limits.

      Hey yo Marky mark, You failed to mention the Sensor shift mode, which can be a big deal, if done right. 40 and 80 Megapixel images are possible, but under ideal conditions, with a tripod, and mostly static subjects! It is not implemented as well as Olympus, but it is still there. And lets not forget the Pre Focus function. Just wanted to clear that up. Peace!

    Great review. I don't have either camera, but I felt like you touched on all the points I wanted to know. I'll check out your other videos. Since phase detect autofocus came out on the S5II, I've begun wondering about the future g9 II (g10?). Panasonic has great video features. If the cost is good, I might buy a Panasonic rather than a Sony. I'm not sure about the Panasonic lens selection, though.
