I own a MkII Katana Artist combo. It is the best Katana available, and is an amazing amp. I love it. If you are in the market for a Katana and at the moment only have enough for a 100, definitely save up for the Artist. It is worth every penny.
@@theyannisschannel The speaker and you can run more than 3 effects at once without 3rd party apps. The speaker is the biggest upgrade though. It sounds night and day different.
Totally agree. I have it also. It has replaced all but 1 amp I had over the last 2 years. I still have my Fender Twin Tone Master Blonde edition. They are staying with me till the end. The mkii Artist is the best all around amp I’ve ever used. It has been way above anything I thought it would be.

The age has arrived when a valve amp is more choice than necessity. This achieves the edge of breakup/mild overdrive sound that solid state amps have struggled with, so far. Great video. Thanks for making me smile when I have a streaming cold.

I had the MkII head, but not the Artist version, with the 212 cab. It was way more than I needed for my application but it sounded fantastic. The extra features on the Artist are definitely intriguing, but again, for just playing around the house, it was definitely overkill. I also never thought of using the acoustic setting for the pedal board. I will try that with my other Katana post haste.
I'm about to go for one or the other. I really like the fact that the model you purchased has 2 12s in it. I think I may go for that same model. I wish I could hear both to decide 😢
@@ShaDowMo5es The 212 is massively loud, so it depends on your application. Playing live or jamming with friends? Hell yeah. Playing primarily at home? Well, that's like having a Ferrari and only ever driving it in town 'cos you'll never use its full potential lol. Also cool: both heads have a 5w reference speaker in them, so you can quiet practice without having it connected to the cabinet. Good luck!

I watched a video of yours a few yrs ago,and you were playin a marshall MG 100 head, "The old ones" So I have like 4 or 5 now,lol, I Use the clean channel as a pedal platform ,I played outdoors for a big crowd and got to use two full stacks, But these amps have not let me down and the tone is incredible, I have a 50 watt and 100 watt Valve Marshalls.they stay at home and rehearsel space mostly.Im curious about the Katana because it would make life easier.still getting to push air like that, . You have been a great help and EVERYONE loves my Tones. So Thanks for all your work brother you sound Great !
My favorite amps, especially for my Strat. I use the 100 2x12 for gigging. Tone for days without fail and I've never had an amp I felt so comfortable with.

You are having an ampgasm 👍😆 there’s a reason they are the best selling amp in the world , I’ve got an Artist combo . I use contour occasionally on the middle settings if I want a Fender sound. I mostly stay on vintage setting sometimes modern
I've been quietly visiting your channel for a long time. Because of you, I am free from the tube amps have to be better than solid state amps ideology. I still think their great, but I love my Katana.
one of the things that threw me off with the Katana artist combo, for my taste, was the look of the front panel. Some how it works with the head version, looks so cool!
Dave, I have a Katakana Artist MKII amp as well and I love it. You probably already know, but you can disconnect the speaker on the artist mk2 and plug it into your CAB. That’s what I do. Best of both worlds - use it as a combo or a head. But, man that Katana Artist MK2 Head looks amazing.
ANOTHER groovy thing to try is plug the trusty ZOOM G2 into the RETURN JACK......You bypass all the pre-amp and EQ........BUT.......You still get access to the BOSS FX section AFTER the ZOOM and it all gets run through the...Roland Tube Logic Power Amp Section before hitting the speakers, it really does warm up the signal.......Give it a try....I know how much you love your ZOOM.....I found Blues Combo,Tweed and Peavey amps to work really well but they all sound great. And if you have the GA--FC foot controller you can turn on and off MOD, Delay, Reverb and stack them with your ZOOM FX....Ton's of fun. Enjoy. Cheers!

I just picked up the GA-FC EX footswitch. Really impressed with the Katana Artist Mk2 combo. Been playing it a ton over my Fractal Axe FX and my assortment of pedals.
Some hefty sixties and seventies music came out of Dave plugging straight into the head with that cab. This is good. Maybe someone can kidnap a krautrock drummer and imprison them in a pedal and we will ind out how Dave musically sllaves to a motorik beat next?

The Kat, under your fingers, sounds definitely better than the weak link in my chain... my fingers. I can pick up a 1x12 cab with a Celestion V30 for cheap. Would this be a good match for this head? I play mostly two sounds... clean on the edge of breakup and crunch. Folk rock, Americana, Pop, Country, rock but not hard rock. It would be for live applications - think relatively small club/bar with a band of course.

I recommend Katana's to people wanting their first "real amp" all the time. Really hard to beat given what you get for the money and Boss are just a top tier company that can be trusted.
Since you've had both the artist MK2 and the normal head MK2 ... Let's assume that with tone studio you'll have the same tweakable parameters on both heads.... But the artist doesn't come with the integrated 5inch speaker. What would you choose between the two? I mean , is the artist a better sounding head or just the same one as the non -artist ? Boss Katana is the best amp value since it was introduced. The new Artist head does everything.
I have the Mk-1 head. Totally happy with it.

I still have my 2018 MKI 100 watt standard Katana and I see no reason to use anything else, it has everything I need and it is solid.

Since you've had both the artist MK2 and the normal head MK2 ... Let's assume that with tone studio you'll have the same tweakable parameters on both heads.... But the artist doesn't come with the integrated 5inch speaker. What would you choose between the two? I mean , is the artist a better sounding head or just the same one as the non -artist ? Ive got the 100w head mk2 and its amazing , whats the main difference of the artist to my mk2 head? Apart from the buttons set up in the front which is just amazing!
