- The Personal Data Protection Commission advises against using NRIC numbers for authentication, labeling them identifiers, not secrets.
This clashes with SingPass's default use of NRICs as login IDs, highlighting inconsistencies that erode public trust and expose users to data security risks.

Authentication means the password - it means you cannot use the same NRIC number as your password, whereas NRIC is a unique identifiers protected under the PDPC Act.
NRIC is linked to so many things, like bank accounts, your properties, where you stay, your singpass entry to govt portal, linked to handouts, linked to mask dispenser etc... That's where bad guys get a headstart and can exploit resulting in more Singaporeans and Elderlies being scammed.
Very well commented, indeed...!!!☝️✌️💪👍✊🤜🤛👊👏🤨
Good question 🤔 by Mr terry Xu
This is getting more and more complicated and distractful for our daily lives...!!!☝️😳😨🙄😬☝️
So reckless. Unbelievable.
This is a very serious mistake by the team responsible for the portal.
Read; Man used NRICs he mistakenly received to redeem face masks from vending machines
NRIC is not state secret but it is "protected" unique identifiers under the PDPC Act.
The point is Nobody or Entity should be above the LAW and no amount of convoluted excuses will be accepted.
The simplest solution is just vote the curent party gov OUT, what nonsense is this justification?
Absolutely agree...!!!☝️✌️💪👍👏🤨 Needless, to talk so much already...!!!
