this is the resilt after years of doing what they want without considering the plp they will affect. Enough is enough! repeated acts without accountability is such high handed approaches in rolling out initiatives. with continuous bad decisions made on our behalf, they should not longer be given the blank cheque

Very sad. Much efforts are made by many organisations to safeguard the personal data of individuals by complying with the PDPA. Here, we are now aware that there are "organisations" that need not comply with the Act. In such a case, would the whole PDPA be made redundant when personal data can be retrieved from such "exempted" organisations? Does it mean that our personal data are not safe in Sg? So sad. Is there anything that can be done? What about other "exempted" organisations? Do they have similar situations?
One set of rules for private business and one set of rules for government. So Shan or Edwin Tong will come out and spin some complicated legalistic BS to patch the hole they dug
They wun be bothered to lah. Its not as if there is anyone or anything there to compel them to do so right? This is called Ownself Exonerate Ownself. Thats what happens when you give a political party blank cheque power with no one there to question them.

Yes. Exactly. The NRIC format for those born between 1968-2000(?) is the dumbest I have ever seen....revealing the yr of birth in a heartbeat just from the 1st 2 numeric characters. Shout-out to Ms Bertha Henson for calling out the misuse of personal data online!
This has been the practice including vehicle owners particulars. This is transparency and accountability. For safety concern, the applicants identity must also be revealed to parties concerned.
Thank you for your effort. There are more to look at from this post. Not just this exposure but the lack of constantly reviewing their applications due to the ability of technology advancement. That's the failure of a government department.
Direct to the point...!!!☝️👍🫵
As a police officer, I can confirm this contravenes the law.
Obviously it does, you can be an absolute Ah Toot gong gong to even realize that.
It has always been around. We need this for private investigation. You need this to subpoena people. I found it useful.
Go arrest every officer involved. Do your job.

Not to talk about ageism since people can decode such personal info from the Nric especially for the older generations.

Is ACRA negligent?
How can some not appear? Is this Animal Farm and some are more superior than others?
So what. Nothing bad will happen when the agencies are well designed.
