    After you do all the videos for Global 1936, will you be exploring the expansions and how they can change the game?
    Also will you do videos when using them in a game?
    This is just food for thought, for the future beyond the basic game.
    Thanks again for doing this series.
    Cheers!
    John

      Hello John,
      That's the plan! HBG wants me to do in-depth reviews of the game, and expansions as they arrive. When those are done, I will be doing some gameplay and tutorial reviews.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

    With alignment, do you actually place your roundel on the neutrals? Or do you just get the ability to move into the neutrals and collect income from the value of their territories?

    • @TheHilltopPillbox
      @TheHilltopPillbox  6 лет назад

      Good question! That is up to the group. If you want the alignment to be obvious, then put a roundel of the Major Power on the board. If you want to "force" people to remember who owns what, then leave it be. You could also make a chart that sits off the board that shows who owns what. Totally up to you! (We place a roundel, because there are enough other rules to remember, we didn't want to add another one!)

    .. HELLO .. IT'S JIM AGAIN .. PLEASE FORGIVE THE USE OF ALL CAPS, IT'S JUST EASIER FOR ME TO USE THIS FORM FOR MY EMAILS ETC. I PURCHASED THIS WONDERFUL GAME WHEN IT FIRST COME OUT AWHILE BACK .. I PRETTY MUCH BOUGHT IT FOR THE BEAUTIFUL MAP HBG PRODUCED .. I'M OVER 70 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN PLAYING A@A SINCE THE EARLY 80"s.. I THOUGHT THAT I REALLY HAD A GRASP ON ALMOST EVERY GAME THAT LARRY HARRIS PRODUCED ALONG WITH WIZARD'S OF THE COAST ETC.
    ...... BUT I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY WITH THE COMPLEXITY OF THIS GAME .. I CONSIDER MYSELF A HALF WAY KNOWLEDGEABLE GAME PLAYER WHEN PLAYING THESE WAR GAMES .. BUT I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT I THINK I HAVE MET MY MATCH ..
    ...... BUT HOPEFULLY WITH YOUR VIDEO'S FOR GLOBAL-36 I WILL BE ABLE TO BECOME A BETTER PLAYER .. I REALLY WANT TO LEARN THIS GAME .. BUT WAY IN THE BACK OF MY MIND, I THINK I WILL HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF PROBLEMS .. SOOOOOO, PLEASE KEEP YOUR TUTORIALS FOR G-36 COMING MY WAY ALONG WITH GLOBAL 39 ALSO ..
    ...... THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO HELP SENIOR CITIZENS LIKE MYSELF FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES AND CHALLENGING A MIND OF ERRORS ETC. INTO FEELING THAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SUCH A FEAT ..
    ...... WELL, MANY THANKS .. LOOKING FORWARD TO PROGRESSING FROM A DUMB #@!^%*& LIKE MYSELF TO A HALF-WIT WITH SOME KNOWLEDGE ABOUT GETTING THE HANG OF PLAYING THIS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT GAME FOR ANYONE OF A MINIMAL DEGREE OF COMPREHENSION FOR THIS WORK OF ART ..
    ...... MANY THANKS AND GOD BLESS !!!!

      Thanks, JIM! It's my pleasure to bring these videos to you!
      I understand your struggle to get the rules down pat, especially with so many variations on the A&A theme! I feel exactly the same way when I try to figure out my cell phone. Usually, my kid helps me get things done.
      If you can follow along with my instructions, then I am a happy fellow! Mission accomplished!
      More videos coming... :)

    We are having some confusion with counting up USA's peacetime income. The guy playing America insists any peacetime bonuses he gets are "locked in" as his base income for the next turn. I say bonuses are thrown out after every turn and his base resets to 6. Until july 1939 in which his base will go up with the result of the dice roll. Thus, july 1939 6 plus d12. January 1940 base would be 6 plus the previous turns dice result plus another dice result, This goes on until he gets to 63. Which way is correct?

    • @TheHilltopPillbox
      @TheHilltopPillbox  5 лет назад +2

      Hello Klay, sorry to say, but your friend is correct. The US's income does a slow crawl up, and any bonuses added remain.
      For instance, if Japan builds a capital ship, then the US income will go up to 9. If nothing else happens for two rounds, the US will collect 9 at the end of the first round, and another 9 at the end of the second round.
      If you look at the bottom of the front of the USA card, you will see what abilities the USA has, depending on its income. So, USA can do nothing, really, until its income hits 15, when it can now close the Panama Canal, and/or Lend-Lease to countries who are at war with any Major Power.
      Hope that helps!

    Great videos! Question regarding neutral nations. I understand that once a neutral nation is aligned it becomes fully integrated into that major power regarding IPP's, facilities, and military units. What I'm confused about is why there is a minor build chart in the rule book. Unless aligned can neutrals make ans spend money? In the rule book it states that once aligned the minor can build off the major's full build chart. So my question is, when can a minor build off the minor build chart?

    • @TheHilltopPillbox
      @TheHilltopPillbox  6 лет назад

      Thanks for watching! That's a good question, and the best answer is that a minor nation that is not Aligned, but gets attacked by a Major Power will come under the control of their closest ally. For instance: if Siam is attacked by Britain before Japan and Britain are at war, the Axis (probably Japan), may now use units and build with any existing facilities, but only from the minor chart. When Japan and Britain become fully at war, then Siam will be considered Aligned, and may now use the Japanese build chart. Hope that helps!

      Thanks for the reply. I think I'm close to understanding. So say, as in your example, Siam is attacked and Japan becomes the controlling nation. During Japan's turn could they build units in Siam using their own IPP's like buying Siam a minor industrial complex or could Siam only build units using their own IPP's. In the rule book it says under control that the controlling nation can now build units using their money (for instance, how I interpreted it, Siam's IPP's not Japan's IPP's). Thanks so much for your time. Because of your video's I'm really getting the gist and flow of the game now!

    • @TheHilltopPillbox
      @TheHilltopPillbox  6 лет назад

      Yes, when countries are "controlled", they only have access to their own funds - not the Major Power's. Glad to hear things are making more sense. It is a very involved game experience!

    I know this is old, have tired different foras. Years ago I had a v2 faq, but cant find it anywhere. What I would like to know is rules for advanced mech. Do all of them auto upgrade +1? And it says it have to be built in a major, so can you no longer produce "normal" mech in minors? Long shot, but had to try.

    • @TheHilltopPillbox
      @TheHilltopPillbox  3 года назад +1

      Good question! No, in this game, units NEVER upgrade their attack/defense ability when they are on the board. You have to build them after the tech is activated.
      You can still choose to produce the normal mech, if you wish, but you likely wouldn't.
      Cheers!

      @@TheHilltopPillbox ok! Thanks! That also begs the question: what about artillery? All units built henceforth is to be considered advanced? Can Russia no longer produce artillery in minors?
      Thanks again! Very much appreciated.

    • @TheHilltopPillbox
      @TheHilltopPillbox  3 года назад +2

      @@larshvik4273 You can still build inferior artillery, if you wish, but why would you? For the same cost, you can build advanced artillery and carry out attrition attacks.
      The typical way to proceed after getting a tech is to just build the upgraded units.
      If you have researched a completely different unit (Heavy Tanks, Super Carriers, etc.) then you have the option of continuing to build cheaper, less-effective units. But, when technology simply upgrades units, then you get the upgrade to all future builds of that particular unit.
      Hope that helps!
