I watched this last night, I went into it not really knowing anything. It hit me like a train, I even heard someone in the audience scream. I have to admit to thinking in a few parts that it was al.ost too much to handle. I grew up in tasmania and I think this brought it closer to home. Our history is brutal and I really think that although the story is fiction its depiction really illustrated the harsh brutality of those times. I cant remember a movie affecting me this much, I was still crying after I left the cinema. I've read books that have told of our history and what were done to indigenous Australians, especially in tasmania, it's another to see it on a screen. . All the acting was brilliant. I never need to see this movie again but I'm so glad I saw it once. These are important stories.
My wife and I saw the film last night here in America and it hit us the same way Neatz. It was like both our hearts and minds were simply blown wide open. I can only hope that someday America will produce a film maker with the courage to depict our colonial history with even half the honesty that Jennifer Kent displays in this film. An incredibly powerful and important film.

Just out of curiosity what was it rated, I'm going to see it today here in Melbourne but it's rated MA15+ not R18+
I wonder what the real life stories from that time are like, but I dread to think
THAT scene is accurate of what went on in that time.
