I just saw this movie last night and I'll just say... it's certainly nice to see her smiling and happy today. Phenomenal acting by Aisling for sure. She crushed it.
haha yes. and she also looks slimmer and younger. She looked much older in the film around 27-28 and healthier. I guess the makeup and styling department did their job well.
“War and Rape come together, there’s a reason for that” very true. Violence and dominance. I like how braver they’re than the rest of the hollywood to tell the story more realistic. The actress has an idea too, she is talented. I hope the film gets the credit it deserves, Jennifer is a great director.
She was a brilliant actress in this powerful, brutal, dark, amazing movie! I loved her, I cried for her, I cheered for her. What a roll! It is my new all-time favorite movie! Amazing!
Right on! How hard is it to confuse the name of an island state of Australia with an African country? Do your f&cking homework man! What an embarrassment 🤦🏻♂️
I have to wonder as an irish woman how beign a part of this film reflected the Irish experience. espeically where she discusses the English taking identity from the Tasmanian aboriginals. Given that the English very nearly succeeded in doing this in ireland and even today native speakers of the Irish language are looked down on in Ireland, I wonder if that maybe played a roll in how she portrayed Clare?
My grandpa was a child when he was STOLEN FROM HIS FAMILY AND SOLD... Australia has extremely dark history that is ignored.. still goes on to this very day....
If Aisling looks familiar, you probably remember her as Katie, serial killer Jamie Dornan's seductive babysitter in the acclaimed BBC TV series "The Fall" (with Gillian Anderson). She steals almost every scene she's in with Jamie. Definitely a face to watch for future projects.
To be honest after watching the first few minutes of the movie I was utterly disturbed and I was thinking maybe I should quit watching this thing right here but I'm glad that I didn't quit there because the rest of the story and all of those revenge scenes and all of those character moments and the ending was the most powerful and satisfying thing I've ever seen. Without any doubt I can give this movie a full 10/10 stars
The movie is now in Netflix and I have this amazing opportunity to see it last night 27.05.22... I am still very emotionally and shocked in a way of some of the scenes but I feel it is a must to learn and see this part of history. Billy and Clare acting was very impressive and the movie was so real....
I read online that this was a very disturbing movie that many people could not even get through 20 minutes of it. And i thought they were exaggerating a bit but when i got to watch it myself, i was like, "holy shit, this is incredibly horrific." If you can make it to the half hour mark then it becomes a bit easier but not by much, since there is more scenes of murder and other forms of brutality. But other than that, the film is made with great skill. The writing, acting, directing, cinematography, and story are pretty damn good. The two main actors on the journey are especially worth noting
Lyanna Stark turned into Arya for this movie. I absolutely love this girl. I just watched The Fall for the first time recently. Unreal. She's a killer talent, folks.
Its a pretty rough watch. Would not recommend for anyone who cant stomach horrific violence (especially sexual violence), unthinkable acts of cruelty and the constant heavy weight of extreme racial bigotry pressing down on you for over 2 hours. But Franciosi and Ganambarr both do amazing jobs. Hope to see them again in future films.
@@jennifersimkins433 The rapes are not graphic necessarily. They are nothing like the infamous rape scenes in movies like Irreversible or The Free Will. Kent specifically makes sure there is no nudity and that the scenes are about power and not sexuality. You mostly just see the pain on Franciosi’s face for the most part. But bear in mind there are multiple rape scenes and I would say if you are somebody who has a strong sensitivity to sexual violence or a traumatic experience of your own, you might not want to watch this movie. Or at least look away for these scenes. For me, the most horrific scene was the killing of the young soldier. But then Im a guy…
@@jennifersimkins433 I dont think you should be offended by them. They serve a real important purpose in the film and, as noted, are not treated in any kind of objectifying way. If there is any way to portray rape on film, this is probably it. Its impossible to gain any pleasure from it. All thats communicated is pain and helplessness. And thats exactly the point.
@@IRex-wm9pd yes but I'm in great shape and could most likely fight off one man I'm 5"3 and 112 lbs but a lot of movies make women appear weak and unable to fight off one man and this offends me as a strong woman
Great movie - history, raw emotion they pulled out epic performances, its a film I stumbled on and no a typical choice of mine but WOW I was impressed.
Literally the best movie I have ever had seen... also the most horrific. Very well done - it definitely got me talking and contemplating the topics involved in the film... A movie I am definately going to see in the movies again before it finishes showing! Also, absolutely amazing soundtrack/songs and set in the beautiful, beautiful bushland of Tasmania... a winning combination. Well done all who worked on the movie! Kelsey
I can forgive him mistaking Tanzania for Tasmania once - could have been a slip of the tongue, but to make the exact same mistake twice is pretty ridiculous, especially given that the film's main theme is colonial violence.
I was lucky enough to watch it and it was a beautiful movie, very haunting. My father was in the US Navy, and he told me how the older Japanese folk didn't like to talk/help the US soldiers, whether they knew English or not. I understand why with a lot of the incidents involving the US military, where there would be a drunk American in the military "getting away" with victimizing a Japanese girl/woman and ending up killing them.
Military abuse happens around the world, stories like this true or not need to be share, study and respected then like this can be avoided in any sort of way
@@danh.5998this Jennifer I just a dude holding a troll account you will read it's dumb comments in a lot of other videos related to this movie, is just sad and pathetic.

Why is this interviewer constantly saying Tanzania instead of TASMANIA!? The film is set and filmed in Tasmania, Australia Please do your proper research!
Oh wow I was expecting her to have an Irish/Northern accent given her background and work on GoT but she actually sound VERY Australian here, wonder if she picked it up during filming.
Sounds like an Irish-American hybrid to me. She was born and raised in Ireland and it seems has spent quite a bit of time in the US to have developed an accent like that.
Such bolloxs. This actress actually apologises for her Irish characters 'racism'. Why? because she is European of course. It couldn't be because she was traumatised by being gang raped and seeing her baby and husband murdered in front of her eyes. What happened to her isnt racism apparently. The fact that the actress, as an Irish transportee, is a victim of colonialism too is not more important than the fact that her fear of being alone with an aboriginal man is seen as racist.
