"start at the spawn and get to the extract" that suggestion is honestly super nice, it helps me in games like tarkov, marauders and hunt showdown. its one of the those good learning plans that is overshadowed by anxiety of not knowing and basic new game fears. tarkov personally is still pretty tough for me to learn but when it comes to marauders and hunt showdown im zooming past with confidence in each gunfight, while in tarkov im going sponge gar on every little sound i hear.
@@scaredstar9127 The main goal is the PvP. Everything else exists in relation to it. People don't realize how brutal and unforgiving this game is. The learning curve is extremely steep; even the most experienced FPS players have bad games and struggle. I have 500+ hours and I am still learning stuff
Best advice that i aim personally going to take from this is to set myself small objectives, start the raid and go straight to extract then work my way up to more hardcore stuff, i needed to hear that one
Been watching you and others on tarkov for a year and a half. This has literally been the best advice I've ever received for a new player taking the plunge.
Better specify looting like this: Fill your slots with anything you can find and exchange with more expensive stuff (10k/square) if you come across anything
@@awsomesprinkles I still believe that a new player should loot everything. Even if you end up dropping the item, you get loot XP. And getting enough to unlock flea takes ages as a new player. I didn't even reach it in my first wipe
11:25 this audio propagation system is what Rainbow Six Siege has had since launch. You'll think someone is in the same room as you, but turns out they're on the floor above you, and because there's a tiny opening shot out in the floor, the sound "travels" that way.
As a new player who only has done labs once and I was carried hard by my friends into getting the key I have no idea how he explained this much while playing labs of all maps
Best tip is stick to one or two maps. Don't worry about quests too much just pick a map and run stashes with a pistol and 3 mags so you don't get tagged and cursed. This allows you to know the starting spawns and the timing of the map. IE. At around what time in the raid you hear gunfights which portion of the map it's in etcetera. Once you start getting loot out use it immediately don't save anything it's going to be lost eventually. Getting lvl 15 as a steady pace is your best bet. Don't stress the quest and don't be afraid to run around naked noone really cares about your survival rate like at all we aren't landmark
Started playing this game 3 days ago. First lesson I've learned: DON'T expect to know or understand everything from the get go. I got into a firefight with a regular SCAV on Woods and he pinned me down in a hut because I couldn't figure out where he was because he was either invisible or was farther away than his yells made me believe he was. Experience will teach you!
Daddy Tarky, thank you so much for your content, you and SwampFox are the reasons i started playing Tarkov (besides Singleplayer Tarkov). You two have made my first days in Tarkov so much easier and so much more enjoyable. I'm curious how long my very first wipe goes!
@@houghwhite411 but it will be harder to play when you're used to playing with your homie, especially if he/she is your guide. The best way to learn how to play Tarkov is playing solo and gaining experience at least sometimes by yourself, because once you'll go to raid solo you'll most probably panic because there will be noone who will cover your back or help you doing quests
This is probably the most helpful video I've watched yet, and I've watched at least 20. Really motivating - this game is one of those that is quite impossible to get good at unless you just keep loading matches. Thanks Pestily!!
Such a good tip to set small goals for raids. Yesterday I went into a raid on Woods to get my Scav kills for a quest and I ended up spawning near Emercom so I went there, got my scav kills and got lucky and found a Salewa that I needed for a quest and got some nice loot from Emercom (including items I was going to need for future quests), and I was near the crashed airplane to go grab the Jaeger letter and I though about going to do that since I was close but I used my better judgement and quit while I was ahead, and instead went straight to extract and got out with all my gear and juicy loot. Could have went to the Jaeger spot but you know what, it's just as easy enough to start a new raid, go in there with as little equipment as possible, run and grab the letter and extract as quickly as possible.
Lmao, I always hated that message. Seeing it in the menu after losing all my starter gear the first day without making any progress is demoralising, yet I'm thankful for the supplies.
15:00 - Selling at flea makes you lose a lot of profit, so especially in beginning it's best to loot stuff that you actually need in some cases. Like 7k slot value gear/construction items VS 10k/slot items to sell
having just started last week, my biggest issue is figuring out where I spawned compared to where everything else is. Did like 20 practice runs on woods before going for the quest and immediately spawned in an area I'd never been to on any of my other runs.
Bro this is like my 3rd or 4th wipe and it still takes me a sec to figure out where I spawned on woods lmao, especially when you notice the land mine signs and you can be up by scav bunker or all the way down near outskirts extract
Newbie early wipe tip. Check lumbermill on woods for Compass. The Woodshed with the trucks parked out front. North side of the Lumbermill. The lockers and the shelf ive found it multiple times. As soon as you find it drag into your Spec slot by your pockets. Even after death you dont lose it. Hover over it and press Number 4-0 Just like you are binding meds. You get a compass pretty early. Its a must have in the specialist slot on woods. First thing when you get in a raid Double tap O. Tells you your extracts. The extracts are on the opposite side of the map. So woods if its outskirts you spawned on the right side of the map. Could be north east side or south east side. If the you remember the time you dropped in. The sun rises in the east sets in the west. Double O says Outskirts extract and you dropped at 6pm. The sun is in the west. So run South west toward the extract till you find your bearings.
the little chat at 7:40 feels good. been dying a whole lot but staying above 25% survival rate and a 2.2 KD. still sucks dying 3 raids and scav runs in a row but its nice to hear some real solid players say that progress is good, cause it doesnt feel good sometimes lmao
Yeah, I just found out I’m doing pretty good. I got the game yesterday and have gotten like 8 kills and survived 24% of my raids so far. Great freaking game! I can’t believe the game isn’t even released yet. Yes, there is a huge learning curve, and you need to learn the maps, but you can tell Battle State Games cares about this game… unlike the Day Z devs who still have game breaking glitches after 10 years.
I commented on Deadlys videos about most of the info is outdated or not brought up at all to help the new guys out and making like a tutorial series( maybe 1 vid a week with 4-5 tips and how to use them in raid) to teach ppl all the lil things the rest of us wish we knew sooner. figured it would help get them on par with us so the fights are good on both ends and not leaving new ppl to not wanting to play anymore being kept in the dark.
Crazy bro! This is my first wipe, I have a 37% survival so far with 200 hours. Really enjoying the game, my next thing I want to get better at is getting more do than 1-2k consistently, but I play solo mostly so I try to get out quicker than I should
As a new player sneaking around, minding my business I am having a really good time. I started off 0-4 for exfils said fuck it “If I’m going to die it’s gonna happen might as well get my loot” now I am on a 9 exfoliate streak enjoying the game. I even ran up on some dude looting, was aiming at his head, he stopped looted and looked at me I started shaking around and because I let him live we parted ways peacefully. The unspoken truce was something amazing to see, especially with the abundance of loot goblins nowadays.
Heres how I started Tarkov; I liked the idea of a mall map, so I started Interchange. I printed out maps with extract routes Played offline for two days, with the goal of filling up a backpack in the mall and getting out. Once I had extracts known and knew how to get out of the mall I went online Killed scavs, ran from gunfire, looted EVERYTHING, and I mean I picked up everything, as soon as I was full, I got out. Then I'd lookup each item to determine how useful it was in terms of quest, barters, crafts. As I got more comfortable, I branched out little by little. My first two wipes I played only Interchange and Customs
I have played like maybe 1 days worth of time and he is spitting facts. I go in with 1 objective and if my rotation allows for more I check it out. If the extract is across the whole map, no where close to your quest, forget the quest for that raid. Going out of your way to do anything will probably get you killed. If you approach anything with a doubt you'll get killed, avoid it. I wasn't seeing gains for about 23 hours of play. But the small steps add up so fast in this game. Love the experience so far. Great video!
1:39 precisely why I'm not even bothering to start this wipe with all of the ammo changes. I've never reached level 40 in this game, I get too burned out and don't have enough time in my day to sweat quests to get top-tier. I managed to get m80 unnlocked last wipe before I'd had enough of the game soon after.
Dude I'v been playing tarkov for 2 days, its been hell. I'v made a couple hundred K, and lost almost all my weapons and armour. Loaded into my last raid - survived 48 seconds and got tapped in the head while looting a box. Was so pissed. This video was awesome, the tips are spot on, the guidance is great. Helped me find the motivation to get back into it tomorrow
7:56 "if you've got a survival rate above 25% you're actually doing really well" *checks stats*, 27% in 70 1.02kd *sunglasses* as someone who is 7 days in that's pretty encouraging to hear tbh. I'm hearing a lot of people saying that this wipe is particularly hard, I think I got lucky coming from games like dayz/arma gear fear was gone by the 3rd day but at the same time I'm having to pick and choose the things I unlearn from those games (for example no ads in arma is pretty much a death sentence in any engagement and usually after getting shot at going prone increases your survival exponentially but in tarkov it feels like it's either super selective or straight up the other way around). Getting popped from nowhere while annoying is kinda just how it goes sometimes but I'm finding it way worse playing scav because it is my money maker so if some player scav decides they like my backpack better and just pops me so they can take it waiting out the timer just sucks
Even as a veteran , its still nice watching these to refresh on things we may forget over time. I hope they can iron out the issues with the binaural audio
@@bakenbeans420 it was truly hilarious when my whole discord was just losing there shit on the first day because of the audio XD especially on interchange
its odd because, well maybe its my headset but the audio for me is amazing. it's like having wall hacks. i can hear exactly where someone is, if they are above or below, how far they are away, etc. i also use only one type of headset so i know the ranges of sounds.
I'd be cool if BSG made some of those water coolers / vending machine functional on labs. It was a bit of a pain seeing you dehydrated running past those because they're just decorations. Nice vid and thanks for the tips man.
I had a 70% Survival Rate in my first 20 or so Raids because I went on a dozen practice Raids on Customs, learned the map and got used to Scav behavior. And I also played like a Rat, being very careful, only moving when there is a gunfight happpening elsewhere etc. That was kinda cool, like a horror game almost but for the Quests I needed to start killing players so I went into Factory with a pistol and had to learn PvP the hard way. Now my SR is like 30 percent but I'm walking around much more confidently and I'm having more fun because of it. Also if you're new like me and find yourself frozen in fear in some corner or some bush, think about how much money you could get on a rat run in those 10 minutes you're sitting around and then realize it's better to die than to sit around. In my experience a loot run can finance you at least 2 beginner loadouts and 4x the Insurance on them, since almost no one is gonna steal your crappy early game stuff beyond week 2 of the wipe.
My survival rate was like 5% for my first 40 raids this wipe. Very rough start. I'm back up to 30% right now. Still pretty new. This wipe start feels much more different than last. I guess because like 8 of my deaths were to invisible players? I'm not sure, just feels different
Been playing for over 3 years yet I still try to humble myself and watch these videos to refresh my noggin. Now if you want to know all the hidden stashes on interchange, customs, or woods, then I'm your man.
One of the biggest tips I have is that it's usually really easy to make money in this game. If you stick to a rule that you should be able to afford 10 similar kits always when going into the raid, you'll pretty much never run out of money. You might run shitty gear, but by knowing that you avoid PvP and player hotspots. Run scavs to gain more free loot. Gear in your stash is there to help you progress and gain more gear. If you have gear fear and don't like to run expensive kits you might have found and run budget instead, the worst thing that can happen if you run the best gear is that you lose it and are back in your comfort zone running budget gear again.
While I will likely never play the game myself, due to lack of interest in loot management and other aspects, you do a great job w your explanations and gameplay. Will keep watching
number 2 is one of the best tips, i mean i know that certain ammo types have way better penetration but its still always a reflex to shoot the torso or head, but shooting the legs never crossed my mind in sticky situations XD
i got lucky during a scav raid at level 3 i found absolute juicers level 6 armor an ash 12 and a raid bag i was automatically good for quite awhile since i didnt have anything good unlocked lol

Proud to say my survival rate this wipe has hovered around 50%, it’s dipped recently because I ran factory with a VPO bolt action and EKO in my alpha, no armor so I could complete sniper part 3
Pest - trying to find a drink. "anyone have a Juice, a hotrod.." , BSG- "what about grandma's remains??" , Pest - " ...a F'n Vase!?!" lol @ Video time 27:00
6:59 SCAV runs should have a 5 minute cooldown if you are under lvl10, it would make more people be able to learn the game without getting smashed right from the start. Also the SCAV runs are insane this wipe, 10-20 minute load times and sometime it puts you into the server 5 minutes into the game when most PMCs are still alive. When I started I did mostly SCAV runs and just wouldn't play the game during cooldown, I'd go play something else/smoke a cig/whatever. That gets boring rather quickly though.
@@Gibbon100 that's how I got many quest items my first wipe, just not the big ones. You really have to race people to certain spots for stuff early wipe, dumb stuff like Salewas and USBs. Last wipe I found almost all of my USBs in file cabinets as a SCAV, one in Factory as a PMC and most of the rest on Customs. I had decent SCAN rep, it got up to 2.8 idk if that matters in the type of loot you pick up in certain places.
Interchange as a Scav, loot North and South Superstores, TechLight, and Kiba, also PCs, profit with 0 risk, 100k minimum a run, 1mil+ if you know what you’re doing. Not mind-blowing but adds up quick if just getting loot out is tough for you. It’s also low risk as Interchange is the lowest pop map in game and almost always empty by Scav spawn time anyways.
here's a useful tip for everyone. In the controls setting turn the console from single tap to double tap that way when you're looting and panic if you get shot at you don't end up opening console and wasting time. 1 too many deaths from that.
I happened to stumble upon your video, let me just say it helped my dude. I'm a new Tarkov player (bought the game 36 days ago) and even if I already learnt the basics, you still provided valuable tips. Cheers mate
“Don’t be surprised if you don’t survive more than 10 of your first 100 raids” Fortunately my first wipe went a little better for me than that but not much so trust what Pestily is saying because it’s rough at first and you’ve gotta learn to love that. You’ve gotta take bad raids and find a way to flip them into good learning opportunities. It’s the only way to survive the mental part of all the failure you WILL experience playing eft.
Change your "C to crouch" from press to release. That way you press C, scroll up/down as needed, and you're good to go. If you just tap it, you will crouch/stand normally. But if you scroll before releasing, it won't change stance once released. Hope that makes sense. This will make a tiny delay for crouching, but it works for me. I'm sure others will chime in with their way of doing it which very well could be better than my method. GL

I know this guy gets asked for beginner tips a lot, so the fact that he talked for 30 minutes for the newer players just because someone simply asked, is very nice
probably the best piece of advice ive ever been given in my 3k hours is " dont expect to be able to play like your favourite streamer" XD

Hunt Showdown's all about the pvp, it's not about survival or loot.
@@SlCKNESS_ but theres key locations to rush at that has clues, and hot spots, its not all pvp theres AI and the main goal, banishing the bounties
@@scaredstar9127 The main goal is the PvP. Everything else exists in relation to it. The reason why bounties exist, yes there is money and exp rewards involved, is to make sure people gather in a place and PvP. The reason why AI exists is so you make sound cues to attract PvP; or to deter specific flanking routes in actual combat, etc.
@@SlCKNESS_ curious because alpha hunt and thoughout the main focus of the game its always been stated PvPvE, a find the clues, locate the lair and banish the boss, defend your bounty and extract.
We are both right.
@@scaredstar9127 I don't think so. I also don't think you've played Hunt Showdown all that much. Debating any further with you is pointless. Also, I wasn't really trying to get into an argument with somebody over Hunt Showdown. I just simply wanted to state that the game is not about "survive and extract", because it's a very different game from Tarkov.
People don't realize how brutal and unforgiving this game is. The learning curve is extremely steep; even the most experienced FPS players have bad games and struggle. I have 500+ hours and I am still learning stuff

That’s the hardest thing tarkov humbles even the best fps players bringing you back to earth with a thud

@@alanfernandez854 I mean that's cause scavs are just 100% RNG and are way overtuned, if they were equivalent to players nobody would die to them.
The perspective of don't be surprised to only survive 10 out of a 100 is insane and definitely needed when first starting
Better specify looting like this: Fill your slots with anything you can find and exchange with more expensive stuff (10k/square) if you come across anything
keep weight in mind tho! Don't need to carry around the large items unless you need em for a quest IMO
this is exactly what he addressed when he specified - "Your going to make yourself a big loot piñata for everyone else"
Thanks! worth a tip, hope you get loads for this vid.
Playing with friend will help. It's hard when there is no friend to play with
@@houghwhite411 but it will be harder to play when you're used to playing with your homie, especially if he/she is your guide. The best way to learn how to play Tarkov is playing solo and gaining experience at least sometimes by yourself, because once you'll go to raid solo you'll most probably panic because there will be noone who will cover your back or help you doing quests
how was your wipe?
this is the best video i've watched so far explaining basic things that can go a long way in tarkov. Great work man.
This is probably the most helpful video I've watched yet, and I've watched at least 20. Really motivating - this game is one of those that is quite impossible to get good at unless you just keep loading matches. Thanks Pestily!!
Yes, could not agree anymore! No sugar coating like other videos 😂

LOL 15:42 thank you pesily, flippin hilarious, love you
15:00 - Selling at flea makes you lose a lot of profit, so especially in beginning it's best to loot stuff that you actually need in some cases.
Comes with experience/time
not sure if you’re doing this already, but using a map on a second monitor/phone and also using the in-game compass makes learning maps super fast
Bro this is like my 3rd or 4th wipe and it still takes me a sec to figure out where I spawned on woods lmao, especially when you notice the land mine signs and you can be up by scav bunker or all the way down near outskirts extract
just keep running around like a madman and take in the scenery before you know it youll have your own routes to get around the map lol

Thanks a ton I just picked up the game about a week ago and it's been a fun punch in the ding ding for the most part
i honestly learned more in 5 minutes from you then i did from other videos that were 20min+
Really enjoying the game, my next thing I want to get better at is getting more do than 1-2k consistently, but I play solo mostly so I try to get out quicker than I should
Nice vid. Great advise. The "get to extraction" and learn is everything
"everybody dies" I LOST it. The most relatable and necessary advice.
Heres how I started Tarkov;
I liked the idea of a mall map, so I started Interchange.
I printed out maps with extract routes
Played offline for two days, with the goal of filling up a backpack in the mall and getting out.
Once I had extracts known and knew how to get out of the mall I went online
Killed scavs, ran from gunfire, looted EVERYTHING, and I mean I picked up everything, as soon as I was full, I got out.
This video was awesome, the tips are spot on, the guidance is great.

the little objectives is the best tip for new players
7:56 "if you've got a survival rate above 25% you're actually doing really well"
*checks stats*, 27% in 70 1.02kd *sunglasses*
as someone who is 7 days in that's pretty encouraging to hear tbh.
Happened to me twice yesterday back to back. Hear footsteps, from the left. Die from right, while holding left.

I’ve played 20 raids so far have 6.9 kdr and have got out of 17 raids. You really buttered my bread and made me feel good.
Honestly just started playing and been enjoying, but these tips deff are helpful and interesting! Much appreciated!

My brother in arms on Tarkov always says "The loot is not in the map, the loot is in the people!!"
We are already getting overrun by player scavs in the first 5min of a raid - 5min cool-down would be atrocious
Spawn into streets and get in a load fight within the first few minutes and then scav army will sprint at you so fast
Best Tarkov advice I’ve heard from anyone else. Thank you so much

i really dont think i got the basics down until at least 300 hours in
“Don’t be surprised if you don’t survive more than 10 of your first 100 raids”
Fortunately my first wipe went a little better for me than that but not much so trust what Pestily is saying because it’s rough at first and you’ve gotta learn to love that. You’ve gotta take bad raids and find a way to flip them into good learning opportunities. It’s the only way to survive the mental part of all the failure you WILL experience playing eft.
Is there going to be a raid series this wipe?
is the recoil like that for all guns? where the gun doesn't move at all but the reticle inside the holo slides around? looks weird
I’ve been playing for 3 wipes and I’m still at the stage of. “In this raid I’m going to survive and get to the extract” 😂
Pestily: Everyone dies in Tarkov.
Closed captioning: Everyone dies in taco.
2:52 pestily i have played like 5-7 wipes i cant remember and i didnt know you could do that controlled crouch. My guy you surprise me again.
2:58 my poblem is, when i holding "c" im already going into crouch position i have no time to scoll ym mouse wheel to change the positioning...
GL
High scav rep is OP. The ability to run almost infinite scavs with the reduced timer is MONEY!
I'm really new to Tarkov and this video has been amazing for me. Thank you @Pestily
