@@wildsouth2471 Our chickens have a huge space to roam with a run, large coop and 1 acre to play on. We did not mention our number of chickens as our city has a limit. We are an urban farm.
I have placed 5-6 orders from them this year and love everything I've planted. Just placed another today. My basil plants from their seeds are HUGE and beautiful, still in mid November! So cool to see the tour! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, my mulch doesn’t really work over there in such hot climates. I use moss. Moss doesn’t like heat and sun. But this year I found out that having moss as mulch kinda creates a symbiotic relationship with the other plants. The moss keeps the soil dry and cool, making it better suitable for the plants, the plants cast shadow over the moss, making the moss healthier. Moss grows way faster when planted with other plants, instead of how I originally grew it. (In open trays)
I’ve been watching your channels for a while and have only recently discovered that where I live in Australia translates to US zones 9 & 10. So much of what you do in San Diego can be transplanted to my gardening here. Knowing what seeds and plant types work for you has been really helpful for me.. thank you
Thank you! We send tons of seeds to Australia. We just sent several of our Zones 9 and 10 calendars too. sandiegoseedcompany.com/shop/2021-urban-farming-calendar/
It's the same for me when I watch gardening videos from the UK! I'm in US zone 8 in a wet climate and it's funny how similar the environment and gardening are between two places so far away from each other.

Cat's name is Black Beauty, named after the Eggplant. Also, I tried San Diego Seeds for the first time this year (inland northern california with hot summers) and everything from here thrived. Right now, the radishes I got from there (golden and watermelon) are doing better with our swinging weather (from high 80s to now low 30s at night) than any of the other radish seeds I planted. Thanks Epic Gardening for tlling us about this company and to San Diego Seed Company for the awesome seeds for us southern gardeners!

We love bottom watering on our farm and use XL metal baking trays to water. Ours are 18" x 26", you can fit a ton of seedings, the trays are super strong and can take the weight, and easy to move around as you need. We also use them in our Bonsai garden, along with a layer of small pebbles, to retain ambient moisture. The trays are also awesome if you are growing moss.

Right? It was a game changer for us too. So much less disease since we could prune regularly. It really was amazing. Plus it looks so neat and orderly which is a nice change on our farm!
Kevin and Brijette a tip re the trays: I hated buying and wasting so much plastic so this year I actually bought a soil block maker and it's an absolute game changer!! You simply take soil and press it into blocks so you don't have to buy trays, you don't have to transplant the seedlings and possibly hurt their roots because you just pick up the soil block and put it in its new home and the process of making the blocks is super easy and satisfying. Can only recommend it!
@@vickyfarquhar3476 It never really was an issue. You press the blocks with wet soil so when you first plant your seeds, you don't need to water them for a bit. I put all the blocks next to each other in a case and they kind of supported each other. They are only meant to be used until your seeds have germinated so they didn't really break apart during that time. On the contrary, after transplanting them into their new homes, I could even see the original soil block after months of the plant being in new soil.
FromNow2Infinity Thank you ! I'm planting spinach seeds today so shall definitely try it. (I have seen it done on a Chanel of traditional Chinese growing, called Liziqi, and assumed that there was something special in their soil that one could keep the blocks intact)
