No joke, everybody I've seen get exposed to Yamazaki almost always ends up liking him or will easily remember him. I'm also puzzled on why one of the absolute best fighting game villains ever created is often cast aside considering he fulfills a unique gameplay role, is easily recognizable, widely liked by fans and new players, and is enough of a bad guy that he can slot into teams and even introduce new ones or long forgotten characters. Yamazaki/Mature/Vice would have been a great team or bring back Mr. Big or shatter expectations and have fellow Southtown psycho Freeman join forces. He needs to become a mainstay.

This video really show how many amazing character SNK have created, each one of them have left very memorable and iconic moment among its fans, which make SNK really hard to decide who needed to be included in the main roster, since they cant pleases everyone with their current limited budget when developing 15 We sure are having a good time to experience and having fun with lot of SNK character till this day, hope you get your character in the future dlc
Yamazaki in the women fighters team joke was hilarious, I personally hope he'll be in a team with Geese and Billy or maybe Mature and Vice. As for Kim, putting him with Chang and Choi like the good old days is something I won't mind at all. And if there some characters I want to be a DLC, teams from Samurai Shodown and Garou will be amazing (I know it's rumoured to happen).

Okay, hot take. I think Chang, Choi and Sylvie (along with two others) should be a bit higher. Hear me out. Hear me out. Chang and Choi... Actually more or less got their own story arc. They have finally escaped from Kim and joined the crazy criminal, Xanadu and looks like they are going back to their own habits. But it is clear that even Xanadu could make Yamazaki say "Dude, lay off the drugs" and creep Chang and Choi out. It is clear that they are going to get a "Hmm... Maybe Kim isn't that bad" revelation. Kinda predictable, but hey, it is STILL something plot-wise. It doesn't even have to be important to the main plot! And Sylvie. Maybe I remind everyone that she is an ex-NESTS member? And while XV is bringing back all of the era protagonists, it is also bringing KROHNEN and Angel. So along with K', Kula, Maxima and Whip, we also have six ex-NESTS members. XV would had been the perfect moment to bring her in because despite her eccentric attitude and outfit suggest otherwise, she is a huge major victim of NESTS. Speaking of NESTS victims, if SNK is bringing characters back from the dead, now would be a perfect time to bring back Krizalid seeing that even though he is alive, he has a LOT on his plate. Betrayed by the organization he fought for, losing his "sister", among other things. And while I am not the biggest Nelson fan, he still continued the wasted potential with NESTS. Correct me if I am wrong, but apparently his metal arm and the accident that led to that was orchestrated by former NESTS agents. Maxima being interested in that arm in their interaction in XIV adds to that. Oh, unless we forget, HE is the reason why we got the King of Dinosaurs! (Also, I THINK he made Tizoc vanish, but that is completely unrelated). Point is, with his ending and ties to NESTS and the King of Dinosaurs, you would THINK we would see him. Don't get me wrong. I love XV's roster. Krohnen single-handedly trumps all of them. But that's the problem with XIV. They were so overly-ambitious with their roster that they set the bar a little too high.
In all fairness. ShoryuGame did say the roster could change at anytime. I would like seeing Takuma team up with Marco Rodriguez. I don't know who the 3rd person could be. We need Rugal badly. Rugal with his children? Goenitz with Vice and Mature would be cool.
Adelheid has no reason to team up with Rugal, but playable Rose would be stonks. I don't think there are many sword-wielding characters in KoF right now.

Despite the American Sports team being kind of a bit popular they weren't treated fairly as the other KOF characters and how when they are supposed to be in the roster, there place get stolen by another team like the rivals and orochi team. Assuming the leaks are accurate (and they've been on point so far), Geese is coming in later as DLC, which is part of the catch-22 of being a popular character.
I'm very much convinced SNK is taking their sweet time to work on Kim's outfit animations just so it'll be acceptable to the fans. Kim's Immaculate Pants Animation must be restored!
Orochi team's other movesets shouldn't be a dlc team imo. They should stop sticking Kensou with Chin too, having Kensou in different teams like the neo psycho soilders team in xi. And Kensou in xi is his best version and his best design.

The one that still hurts me is Shingo, it's one of the funniest and most lovable characters for me, it's a shame he didn't make it. PD: I also think that Rugal is in the game, for god sake it's impossible for him not to be in the game.

Kim not being in XV shocked me but I looked up info and I heard, according to the SNK wiki, one of the reasons why Kim isn't in the main roster of KOF XV (aside from his KOF 14 ending) was the passing of the real Kim Kaphwan. The real Kim Kaphwan, a businessman was the founder of Viccom, a company in Korea that, for a few years licensed SNK games. Dong Hwan and Jae Hoon are named after Kim's real life brother and nephew respectively. Figured this would be a nice little fact as to why Kim wasn't in the main roster. If Kim does come to KOF XV as DLC, he should team up with Kim Sue-il and May Lee forming Team Korea. Though I still wish May Lee can join Shingo and Marco to form Team Disciple.

Yamazaki is definitely my favorite character of any fighting game. With any other character being dlc twice in a row would piss me off but I don't mind paying again for him
I love the running fan theory that Takuma was missing from 14 onwards because he was so absurdly strong in 13, so they cut him to make sure people play other characters. Also, Takuma is one in the 14 Art of Fighting Ending, front and center, holding the championship belt, and doing most of the talking, despite not being playable.
All the Endings in KOF XIV are basically What-If Scenarios. While the Art of Fighting Team Ending in KOF XIV could technically be Canon, but in Reality it's pretty much clear they never Won the KOF Tournament, However, the KOF Championship Belt is probably given to Goro Daimon, because Team Japan play a Key Role in the KOF XIV Story while the AOF Team only have a Minor Role (as Jobbers).
The characters I miss the most are: -Kensou (He's always one of my mains and I'm really upset that they abandoned the Dragon Spirit subplot in favor of keeping him as comic relief. I'm aware he's not exactly the most popular character, though.) -Shingo (Now that team Orochi is back I wanted to play my favorite 98 team of Kensou, Shingo and Chris.) -Adelheid (I really like Adel and it's disappointing how little involvement he has with the story, especially considering he's the son of Rugal.) -Rock (While he does have his own storyline and series to an extent, seeing him interact with KOF characters and systems is something I had looked forward to.)
Just FYI, adelheid actually have some story line (in the background, since 2003), especially about his contrast personality compared to his father rugal, which could be a big plot point in the next installment and its actually "foreshadowed" in 14 that the return of rugal could affect him and his sister (who having the same personality as rugal but physically not strong as her father, while adelheid is the opposite, which he inherit the strenght and technique of his father but not his mannerism), i mean a fight of 2 bernstein would be a fun thing to watch isnt it? Also shoryu already made a video about it (in rugal history, which also include adelheid and rose) and its very good and in depth xD

As a relatively new fan the ones I really wanted in the base story was Yamazaki and Kim, the former for his gameplay, personality, and his potential interactions with Orochi team in the story. The later since I just love his gameplay, one of my first characters, design, and would've liked to see him alongside May Lee and Jhun Hoon my only concern though is unlike Yamazakii could see them not putting in Kim even in the DLC. Others I'm hoping to see be DLC: Adelheid Bernstein, Shingo, Vice and Mature, Rock Howard B. Jenet Goentiz, Rugal, and Geese (100% certain the last 2 will be DLC)
Yamazaki is in the second team with billy and Geese for dlc in Kof 15. Also there’s a mark of the wolves team for the first team dlc in Kof 15. Just giving aheads up

It was said that the devs would try to add Kim later down the line, so while it's not 100% confirmed, he probably will still make it in. In any case, I can wait. I've yet to play a mainline game that was "the current game", and XV looks fun, so I'll probably rotate a few characters until Kim makes it in, when I do eventually buy the game. Probably Rock, Ryo, Luong, and Leona.

The only thing that makes me worry about Shingo's chances is his currently running spin-off manga, King of Fighters Gaiden, where he deadass time travels to 11th century (I think?) Japan and experiences the events leading up to the Yasanagi clan doing the blood pact thing with the Hakkeshu, becoming the Yagami clan.
I just hope KOF doesn't become like modern Mortal Kombat in terms of roster. I hate how starting to MK9, they always use the cast from MK2 in every game from NRS MK11 made me hate that trend
I wish Duck King would make another playable appearance. He's my favorite Fatal Fury character and I'd love to see how his design would translate into 3D
To be honest, all of the characters have a lot of potential to be in the lore; but sadly, SNK really likes to pump out characters only to be benched in the sidelines It's like that one kid where he makes characters in his stories only to make 1 or 2 cameos or main entries then just forgotten overall. And, a lot of people might bring Kim back as a DLC because of the high demand for him (even though his canonical absence is because of Luong's suggestion of Gang-il training Kim even more) even though there are leaks that even in DLC he would be absent. (And please hope to god they arent true)

Despite the American Sports team being kind of a bit popular they weren't treated fairly as the other KOF characters and how when they are supposed to be in the roster, there place get stolen by another team like the rivals and orochi team. That's gonna be rough and I feel bad for them.

I read once that the guy who designed the character, said that he modeled Lucky after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's role as Hakeem ("Mantis" in the Hong Kong version) from watching Game of Death (死亡的遊戲), it explains why Lucky is 7'3".

I'm very much convinced SNK is taking their sweet time to work on Kim's outfit animations just so it'll be acceptable to the fans. Kim's Immaculate Pants Animation must be restored!
Orochi team's other movesets shouldn't be a dlc team imo.
They should stop sticking Kensou with Chin too, having Kensou in different teams like the neo psycho soilders team in xi. And Kensou in xi is his best version and his best design.

The one that still hurts me is Shingo, it's one of the funniest and most lovable characters for me, it's a shame he didn't make it.

Kim not being in XV shocked me but I looked up info and I heard, according to the SNK wiki, one of the reasons why Kim isn't in the main roster of KOF XV (aside from his KOF 14 ending) was the passing of the real Kim Kaphwan. The real Kim Kaphwan, a businessman was the founder of Viccom, a company in Korea that, for a few years licensed SNK games. Dong Hwan and Jae Hoon are named after Kim's real life brother and nephew respectively. Figured this would be a nice little fact as to why Kim wasn't in the main roster. If Kim does come to KOF XV as DLC, he should team up with Kim Sue-il and May Lee forming Team Korea. Though I still wish May Lee can join Shingo and Marco to form Team Disciple.

My guess is that they pretty much won't play a big Part in the Main Plot, but Hopefully we can see some Character Interactions, Rival Cutscenes or at least Team Endings this Time to get the Details we need for some Interesting Side Stories.

I love the running fan theory that Takuma was missing from 14 onwards because he was so absurdly strong in 13, so they cut him to make sure people play other characters. Also, Takuma is one in the 14 Art of Fighting Ending, front and center, holding the championship belt, and doing most of the talking, despite not being playable.
All the Endings in KOF XIV are basically What-If Scenarios.
While the Art of Fighting Team Ending in KOF XIV could technically be Canon, but in Reality it's pretty much clear they never Won the KOF Tournament,
However, the KOF Championship Belt is probably given to Goro Daimon, because Team Japan play a Key Role in the KOF XIV Story while the AOF Team only have a Minor Role (as Jobbers).

The characters I miss the most are:
-Kensou (He's always one of my mains and I'm really upset that they abandoned the Dragon Spirit subplot in favor of keeping him as comic relief. I'm aware he's not exactly the most popular character, though.)
-Shingo (Now that team Orochi is back I wanted to play my favorite 98 team of Kensou, Shingo and Chris.)
-Adelheid (I really like Adel and it's disappointing how little involvement he has with the story, especially considering he's the son of Rugal.)
-Rock (While he does have his own storyline and series to an extent, seeing him interact with KOF characters and systems is something I had looked forward to.)
Just FYI, adelheid actually have some story line (in the background, since 2003), especially about his contrast personality compared to his father rugal, which could be a big plot point in the next installment and its actually "foreshadowed" in 14 that the return of rugal could affect him and his sister (who having the same personality as rugal but physically not strong as her father, while adelheid is the opposite, which he inherit the strenght and technique of his father but not his mannerism), i mean a fight of 2 bernstein would be a fun thing to watch isnt it?

As a relatively new fan the ones I really wanted in the base story was Yamazaki and Kim, the former for his gameplay, personality, and his potential interactions with Orochi team in the story. The later since I just love his gameplay, one of my first characters, design, and would've liked to see him alongside May Lee and Jhun Hoon my only concern though is unlike Yamazakii could see them not putting in Kim even in the DLC.

It was said that the devs would try to add Kim later down the line, so while it's not 100% confirmed, he probably will still make it in.
In any case, I can wait. I've yet to play a mainline game that was "the current game", and XV looks fun, so I'll probably rotate a few characters until Kim makes it in, when I do eventually buy the game. Probably Rock, Ryo, Luong, and Leona.

Snk knew that 3d technology wasn't ready to animate the folds in kim pants, so instinstead of reflecting on themselvs, they skipped kim entirely 😂😂😂
The only thing that makes me worry about Shingo's chances is his currently running spin-off manga, King of Fighters Gaiden, where he deadass time travels to 11th century (I think?) Japan and experiences the events leading up to the Yasanagi clan doing the blood pact thing with the Hakkeshu, becoming the Yagami clan.

To be honest, all of the characters have a lot of potential to be in the lore; but sadly, SNK really likes to pump out characters only to be benched in the sidelines
It's like that one kid where he makes characters in his stories only to make 1 or 2 cameos or main entries then just forgotten overall.
And, a lot of people might bring Kim back as a DLC because of the high demand for him (even though his canonical absence is because of Luong's suggestion of Gang-il training Kim even more) even though there are leaks that even in DLC he would be absent. (And please hope to god they arent true)
