  • A big change around in the position of the legacy stored DB class 90's at Crewe TMD over the last week in Sep-23.
This video shows the locos now all grouped together in new positions near to Wistaston Road. The video doesn't show the shunting moves itself as I wasn't present when these moves were made however it shows you how they've now been arranged.
These are the DB locos that have recently been put up for sale via tender exercise. These are the locos which have been parked up for many years and not to be confused this the DB class 90's which have been working until recent times which are in warm storage next to the main depot building which you can see later in the video.
The 12 locos DB has put up for sale are as follows -
    90017, 90018, 90022, 90023, 90025, 90027, 90030, 90031, 90032, 90033, 90038 & 90040.
Here's the link to the DB website detailing the sale and how to buy one if you wish!
    uk.dbcargo.com/rail-uk-en/ser...
Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching.

it pissed me off to see our last British built propper locomotives just sat rotting away in sidings when we had work for them once upon a time! no wonder we are now broken Britain!!! Good video as always 👍 👌 👏

Its really quite digusting that they've been left to get into this state before putting them up for sale... its as though they just want them to go for scrap... and it seems to me that they have something against actual British built locos.

To be fair to DB, they were all already stored when DB came along, I do think they could have had the active 90s busier for longer and on more services other than MALCOLM

I would imagine investing in tarpaulins to cover the locos costs much less than the amount of damage done by leaving them outdoors

At least when the 86s were sold they were intact as there were no others running to rob spares ,these on the other hand are stripped mostly shells

Are DB trying to highlight their 'green' credentials by covering every loco there in moss.. 😆
Is it just stored stuff kept there now ?

All the class 90s, a number of 92s and that 60 at the end of the stored line are those stored ... there's a number of dysons (92s) still active - including the recently painted and overhauled 92029 seen towards the end with another EWS beasties grey 92 and maintained here along with the 325s and a number of 67s as well

Wonderful footage again. What's the guide price for forlorn loco's nowadays?
Back in the 80's I jumped on creating a Class 40 shares idea, on hearing 4,000 was the price for long term outside stored... didn't sell any shares because I had no idea how to register a company or how to move a loco (and was only 14 anyway lol). But, it's always interested me whether I was told the truth.

Freightliner would be the best bet, they could overhaul 18, 40 and a number of the active fleet like 90029 ... the active members could be stripped of DB logos and gradually painted into Freightliner and the LTS members like 90025 and co could be donors for Freightliners 90s for years to come.

Guess they've been moved to make it easier for their removal from the site; from where they are its literally straight down the depot approach driveway, onto Wistaston Road and away.

    • @johnson_street_IEMD
      @johnson_street_IEMD 7 месяцев назад +1

@Dunco3550 I meant those that are already where they are now have been repositioned in that siding, like 90025 and 90031 and why are 90018 and 90040 not there instead of that 60 and the flatbed wagon

@@johnson_street_IEMD I guess 90018/040 are still serviceable hence the reason they have kept them in a more secure position next to the main shed. I think all of the others will go for scrap due to having been out of service for so long.

@@Dunco3550I think if they go to Freightliner, they should keep them as they are for parts and maybe ring-fence them in the middle of Basford Hall and try and get the other twelve for a steal and slowly overhaul those ahead of Tango'd treatment
