I think it should be preserved as a static exhibit as this makes it historically significant. Crewe Heritage Centre would be a good place for it as Crewe is the centre for preserved electric locos such as the Class 86, 87, 90, 91 & APT.
Just had a quick google to see if there's any photos of the interior of a 92 to see how much empty space there is (if any) to try and guess if it would have been viable to retrofit a diesel engine/generator for non-electrified lines
Great footage mate, Was at Carnforth just after you filmed there, and my the looks of it I just missed you here, very useful though as I can see where things are now. Great stuff😊
I didn't know the facility was that big. I'd heard of stuff sometimes being moved to Worksop for storage, but I assumed it was just some old weed-overgrown sidings where they just moved stuff out of the way. There's proper workshops and things here. Workshops at Worksop!
I see the Eurostar Class 373 from National College for High Speed Rail, Birmingham has found its way there probably due to the Northern part of HS2 cancellation, they have some decent old loco's stored there, that place is enormous, great video, top marks.
GREAT VIDEO. At 8:06 if you look in line with the track machine into the distance you should just be able to see the other storage area. its full of the class 379 units as well as some 20s 37s 47s and some south eastern class 465 and 466 units and i think I saw a couple of 321s in there too as you pass the area on the train from Worksop to either Sheffield or Nottingham (The Robin Hood Line) The trains either turn left for the RH line to Nottingham or right To Sheffield just after the storage area.
Typical british weather is a killer when rolling stock in cold storage conditions is left open air exposed to the elements. No matter if brand new or old. Luckily a few class 60s were kept at crewe inside a shed for many years, being the most well kept compared to the majority of stored classmates. Thank you for sharing another interesting video.
Some of that lot are awaiting delivery to operators, such as South West, and it is likely that some of that older stuff is being stored there on behalf of the NRM, such as the Eurostar. The bullet from the NRM is currently at the North York Moors . Scrappies such as Sims are full to bursting, as scrap metal is worth very little too.
Didnt even realize a few GA 720s were still to come in service, still amazing how the 701s arent in service yet. Will there be a updated video on Worksop Up Receptions? with the 465s etc ?
But what the DfT will allow operators to have and spend is different from what the operators need. We might have private operators but what they can do is so strictly controlled by the DfT its ridiculous.
class 25s?????? where did they come from? .a eurostar power car in pink. are those blue shunters class 18s?. the light rail trams look like NETs new vehicles.i noticed a class 144 pacer there as well.
Loved the flyover. You really did capture almost every loco/train hiding in those sidings. How come there are still class 720s not in service? Does anyone know. I think i saw a 720 with a black Front as well. 3:11 I know in the GA Advitisment for the 720s and 745s have black fronts but i didn't think any were actually gonna get made. Or is because it hasn't been painted yet? Not suprised about the 701s still sitting there though. There were definitely a lot of stored shunters there as well. Doesn't look like half of them will move again. Such a shame. At least i know where the DRS Class 20s are stored now. Haven't seen them for ages and i didn't know where they were stored. If I had the money I would buy and preserve one of those class 20s. But I guess its just a dream, that will never become a reality. Suprised to see a pacer hiding away there to. Thought most had been scrapped or presered. Does anyone know whether the Pacers is getting preserved or is it just stored ? Anyway, enough of my rambling. That was a smashing video. Brilliant footage. Cant wait to see part 2 / the other sidings 👍
92s are rather complicated locos which are expensive to maintain & run, and in Essene too many of them were built as much of the work they were expected to do never materialised E.g. Nightstar and outside of services that run through the channel tunnel, HS1 and Caledonian sleeper services where their full capabilities are required other locos can do the same job to an adequate standard while costing less to maintain and operate
A lot of Class 20s and 25s, and you can't move for units that the useless South Western Railway don't seem to know what to do with. Where are those blue trams for?
Stored for West Midlands. Will return once the extension work on Wednesbury Depot is complete ... will be needed for the new extensions - but not currently needed for service, so stored here to create space for building work at the depot.
What a cool yard! Those blue center-cab diesels and Eurostar locomotive were cool
Thank you. Very interesting.
Sad to see the 92s still there, hopefully they can be reactivated, 92046 is special being the last ever locomotive built for British rail.

All the 92s have now left and gone back to Loughborough
are the trams in storage there's a mixed bag of traction there for sure! Good video as always! 🥰
Amazing video
Some good stuff there.
3x Class 25’s There. And quite a few class 20’s. Are they being restored for operationS. Great video

Yes me and a mate spent 2 hours traipsing around Worksop trying to see what we can see, very interesting!

I used to have to drive into that yard almost daily delivering for dpd about ten years ago, was only old coal wagons sat there then.
Nice video great camera work as usual bye for now Philip
Most random thing there has to be that singular eurostar power car unit sat alone😂
I'm surprised to see 25's there. Probably one's I didn't know still existed ??
All kinds of random there... Its the equivalent of when i had hsts running alongside flying scotsman and a class 33 on my model railway as a kid!

So many trams. Now i know why they are late 😂
We currently have no use for these 08s, but they are too useful to scrap.
says who ?
And then they say that they are short of rolling stock…….They let these rust away or ship them out to far away countries
They chat shit mate it all to do with accounts and profit with most TOCS yet don’t mind buying in new crap from overseas

Is 25057&D8069 being restored
Is there any chance of 92046 running soon? It is in much better condition than 92021, 92040, 92045
"Cracking Good" CAF trams already stored!!!!😳
I’m surprised the 720 aren’t in
Are they Trams there?? How many are mothballed for the summer timetable
What Drone do you use?
What are the West midland metro trams there for?
I heard they are being temporarily stored during the rebuilding of Wednesbury Depot, they are numbers 17,26,29, 34 and 37 but not in that order

1:52A Class 373 power car?
From the HS2 college I think.
The so called Brumstar 🙈
More stock there than you get at some open days !
124 numbers up for grabs there
I remember going to the Worksop open days in the early 1990s before privatisation.
The Class 144 is still there? I hope someone preserves it. But I know it’s unlikely.
What are West Midlands Trams doing there?
I was wondering that too.hoping they are waiting for the Digbeth extension, rather than surplus
Whats the blue 37 that looks in a right state?

Eurostar power unit? Who's trams are there?
It was at the High Speed College in Doncaster I believe.
@@marshlane2016and i believe is confirmed for preservation which iirc now that there is 4 (might be wrong) preserved
Talk about UK wasting money. These old train could be put to good use. But that's life.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
Why do they never use the 92s? Bit of a waste considering their power...

that ga 720 has a black front? looks weird
Front panel has been removed for now 👍
Ain’t there another storage yard further up the tracks
Yes - Another video to follow on the locos/units in the Up Yard 👍
RAF rail and flyover…🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
EMR could do with some of these….our trains are so old and slow….
Anyone know which the class 25's are?
25057 is one
Why are there 25's the Be been there since 2016
Millions of pounds worth of trains just stood there how much is it costing for these to be here and what's the units with the red doors.
Well, one looks like a Class 720, with yellow ends, but the other two have no yellow ends
guess all 3 units are Class 720
The Red doors are Greater Anglia
I never knew there were class 25 rats there
Are Alstom (Bombardier) paying the 701 storage fees ???
They won't be storing them for free. 5000 per unit per week

Stored, because they cannot be accepted due to 'ongoing issues' and here for mods.
