I have been pretty healthy most of my life and have taken very few medicines all my life( other than OTC as needed )
However, I suddenly developed this Sciatica, which went away completely and then resurged very slowly. It confused everybody including the specialists. So, it took a little longer for the Dx to be established.

I am definately getting better with exs and relaxation (cos my low back and butt were very tight). And cold packs. I was advised to take an Epidural by the ‘pain specialist’. Which I did last Tuesday Oct 22, 2024

How did the epidural work for you?

@@PT4Everybody Not sure about the benefit of the Epidural. Do they really help ? And if so, in what way and how much do they help ?

OK, now here are a few questions for you. How important is the role of medication for Sciatica ?

Personally, I prefer to avoid medication if possible and heal through natural movement!

Thank you for the compliment! It is hard to tell but losing strength in your calf is a problem. I would recommend finding a Manual Physical Therapist who can help you understand the cause of your problem directly.

@ i did consult docs here they were also unsure however they said maybe its coz of inflammation around the nerve area, and knots in my muscles due to prolonged sitting and bracing , any solution for this??

I am still having problem sitting due to pain under my thigh mainly. And some under my butt too. About 50% better.
I have to fly coast to coast end of November and I am worried about the flight, and if I can sit that long. Please advise dear Doctor Amy ! I think that is your name-Amy

Flying and sitting for that long is super rough! Have you ever tried compression socks? Those might help. And, make sure you get up regularly and walk as much as you can. I always get an aisle seat so I can get up regularly. Wishing you the best of luck!

@@PT4Everybody Yes. I do walk around a lot. Acute pain of sciatica limited me some. Yes, I will go for an aisle seat.

@@PT4Everybody how exactly can compression socks help with the pain ? I am sure there is some science behind it.
