What worked for me is play a few rounds you plan to lose, and put 90% of your focus of baiting fist fights, and try to win those close quarters scraps using parry.
The amount of emergent gameplay this game spawns out of simple mechanics is bonkers :0 like yeah the movement is complex, but farming is pretty simple yet there's a ton of nuance
normally you do it when ur 100% sure they are making that move, usually its hard to react and redirect if you dash over to parry, if they can still do it then ggs
parrying is such a shitty mechanic as it is reliant on all players having the same connection. Abrams is the only character in the game that can use melee against other players as he is the only character with enough hp and sustain to not instantly die. Which is a damn shame, they will probably rework the entire mechanic later down the road because as it stands; It's garbage, the melee and the parry

Why would u do that instead of parry dashing? Just more consistent and overall better
What do I do when people who like to punch bait my parry by redirecting the punch?

with abrams it's just pain in the ass, stay out of melee range if possible
