Even if you weren't around in the 70s and never heard 70s music, Uptown Funk is pretty much that. 70s style funk r&b. What's old is new again, proving that there was more original and creative music from that decade than there is today.
I get why Boy with Luv is insanely catchy right now....they grab melodies from Euphoria...and snatch some words in the recent single Boy in Luv..how awesome
Ok. Here goes: This song is 'catchy' and works because it relies on a template originating in Paisley Park. Kiss my self, I'm so pretty? Google 'Prettyman' and s"Rave un2 a Joy Fantastic'. Peace, always.
This guy really came in after Mark Ronson? TED Talks are supposed influence. If you took all the notes(7) you can only mix them as much as you want. You will eventually come up with the same chord progression, that's simple math. Yes The Gap Band was great but music just comes full circle-GSH
It doesn't really sound like Michael Jackson. The sound of the era is the same, but there's nothing taken from Michael music that I can tell, and I'm an MJ fan.
Huh? Why is the song catchy? Maybe cause it's a grab bag of styles and songs considered "old school", from The Time and The Gap Band, etc. This guy is WAY too analytical.
He literally broke it all down for us. I, for one, thought it isn't the BEST song in the world but wondered why it was so popular and catchy. He revealed the reasons. He may even have missed a few (I see, after reading the comments.)
Uptown Funk is good, but it just shows you how cheap music is today... So much taking from others with little to no good own stuff Im generalizing to much but it really seems common in todays business
This doesn’t prove it’s a good song, it proves that producers and writers are literally ripping off everything from the past and passing it off as original!

He forgot to talk about the Chic - Le Freak, the cream and the chrorus are the same.
I went there to be more comments talking about the lack of comments than comments actually about the video
Meu Deus, a parte do maluco no pedaço 😱😱😱, eu nunca percebi.
this is very interesting but the poopy de scoop at the end kind of unecessary
Amazing...!!

Why are there only, like, 24 comments?
(and rising :D
Don't worry, it's up to 34 now.
y only 5 coments pls tel me ? ?
The perfect fourth sounds like it is also used in "Taps," the funeral song and (at least the end of) "The Star Spangled Banner," no?
Umm
What a small view count for a channel with 16M
Sounds like he's trying to get Mark Ranson n Bruno Mars sued 😅😂
2 comment? Really?
Its easy sounds like michael jackson

Great idea, great concepts, poorly executed - with a bit more practice, this would've been brilliant.
Adam Dunkley I’m sure your ted talk is far superior. Thanks for gracing us with your non constructive criticism.
@@CRASS2047 lol he LITERALLY gave constructive criticism. Smh
i think if it had a better more young audience it would have been better

You just said what he said
Much respect from Sydney AUSTRALIA.! //

Do these things also exist 😂😂

Its no wonder why I hate this song
