The beautiful thing is that Sparano kept the Wildcat on the shelf for the first two weeks, took the two losses, just so he could spring it on the Patriots (IN FOXBORO!) because that's the win he wanted. Just beautiful.

Wow, so the team that went 16-0 the previous year was able to pull out a split with the team coming off of a 1-15 season? I'm so impressed.
Yes, more difficult the second time around. That still doesn't make this one any less a case of New England being caught with their pants on the ground…in ways a "dynasty" never should be.

Who says I'm a Dolphins fan? But seeing the Pats humiliated is always good, I'll admit.
(Congrats on finally winning a Super Bowl without cheating or relying on the opposing HC having an inexplicable brain cramp, though. [This assumes you didn't just find a new ploy and haven't been discovered yet, of course.] It may have taken 11 tries to finally get a clean one, but we knew you had it in you!)

Yes INDEED, however, it took 11 years for the Dolphins to def. the Pats in Foxborough and Ryan Pitzpatrick has become Tom Brady's Kryptonite
Ya know what? I wouldn't be surprised if next season, the Dolphins, Jets and Bills all make the Playoffs (1 clinching the Division and the other 2 clinching Wild Cards) and the Patriots become the only team in the AFC East not to make the playoffs
      Wouldn't that be something?

Often overshadowed by the Wildcat in this game was Chad Pennington's masterclass in QB efficiency. 17/20, 226 yds, no INTs. He didn't have any TDs because pretty much all of them were Wildcat. But his pinpoint passing to consistently get them into position to run the Wildcat was simply unstoppable. Chad was known for having a weak arm, but if Tua can be "that" guy and stay healthy, the sky is the limit for the 2022 team.

If you're a serious football fan, this is one of the craziest and funnest games ever! You have the Tom Brady less Patriots with Cassell on his first time starting at home. The Dolphins decided to pull out the Wild Cat to finally get a much needed win in Foxborough. You would think the Pats would do this without their Goat! Miami won this game and division with the Patriots losing TB, coming out with the Wild Cat in this game, and making it their offensive identity for this season. 2008 was a strang year but yeah this game is still great to watch today. Thanks for posting!

This is one of the few times THAT unit in New England defensively had no answer. They were beside themselves, beyond frustrated cause usually they could adjust. It just was so offsetting what Miami was doing.
Teams admitted after this game that they'd practice as if Miami would use this 90-100% of their snaps because it was so confusing trying to figure out which of the (I believe it ended up being 7) plays it could be because there wasn't really much of a tell package wise. Teams weren't playing 11 vs 11 football in the run game like they tend to moreso now. Noone was expecting Pennington to be a runner. Yet that's what they were doing. It's weird to say that now but the Wildcat, while it itself not having much staying power, definitely had an impact on the league going forward.

As a younger Dolphins fan, this was my favorite team. None will ever rival this 2008 squad. As a little boy I will never forget this season. From 0-2, to 4-5, and then 7 in a row to end the year at 11-5 and win the AFC EAST. Ronny Brown, Ricky Williams, Anthony Fasano, Greg Camarillo, a young Tedd Ginn, Devone Bess, and Joey Porter, and out course Chad Pennington. They had went 1-15 the year prior. I remember being in school and having my peers laugh and make fun of me for wearing my dolphins gear. They were all Jets fans. How sweet it was in week 17, when Pennington beat Favre and the Jets in North Jersey to make the playoffs. Sweet revenge for Pennington who was cut for Favre. I'll never forget that year.
