    Put a small sprayer on the back of your 4 wheeler and when you are out checking cows you can spray for flys at any time.

    The broken ball reminds me of a very common failure on a paintball marker (for paintball games), since it is based on a paintball marker, except it uses larger balls. So that failure in a paintball marker is typical when the bolt of the marker cracks or chops the paintball during firing, and that happens when the ball is not correctly loaded into the breach when the marker fires (almost all paintball markers are open breach designs). The reason for cleaning the barrel after a break is that the liquid in the barrel can cause range and accuracy loss as well as lead to further feeding issues, a quick fix if you don't have time to clean the barrel is to turn the marker upside down so it will not feed balls in and dry fire it a few times. There were innovations and design tricks done with the more expensive paintball markers to prevent this, but they easily triple the price of the marker. For those wondering how I know this stuff I spent too much money and time playing paintball when I was younger.
    I kind of wonder if there are paintball sized (0.68" or 17.3mm) insect repellent balls, obviously they would hold less repellent, but you might be able to get a better marker with some of those anti-chop features and creature comforts (burst fire markers with power feed hoppers). If those are available then go looking for someone, like me, that has a bunch of used paintball equipment they would sell for cheap.

    Check the Crosman powerlets for their air GUNS and I'm guessing their powerlets would be a lot cheaper as I usually buy 40 in a box...worth comparing to see if you can save money...plus they sell a special oil to put a drop on the end to preserve the life of the seals....also I have found it's better to not keep the pellet guns pressurized after use as this will deteriorate the rubber seals...hope I have helped you... a little late but congratulations to you and Hannah😃👍🏻

    Do you use fly tags in your cattle? Also try using Longrange for parasite control, it seems to give extra control if flies. We have 2 herds of cattle about 100 cow calf pairs each, the ones we used Longrange on had very few flies. These were ran through the chute towards the end of May.

    Farmer Tyler Ranch had a very similar issue with flies, lice, pink eyes..... and seem to have sorted it out with some special formula mineral blocks he leaves to the cows in the field... his video title: The Simplest Way to Get Flies OFF My Cows...If It Works!!!
    He gave regular updates since....

    I purchased one about 3 months ago and it only works for about 2 weeks. You have to rotate from the A capsule to the L Capsule or vice versa. All together I spent around $350 for everything and it only works about 2 weeks max.

      I’m not sure if I can adjust down the pressure. Out of 30 I had that one explode out

    • @sunshaker01
      @sunshaker01 2 года назад

      Given that it is based on paintball markers, the answer is maybe, it depends on how cheap they made the vetgun (if they included that option), but it likely would not fix what happened as it looked like the bolt chopped or cracked the ball from a misfeed (I used to play paintball and that is exactly what that looked like).

    my CO2 SART GUN I HAVE HAD OVER 30 YEARS it can sit for months not used an need it, pick it up to use it, dry fire once load up a dart and go, the oid co2 is fine, never have had to replace any seals. you should be able to recover any missed balls s i do with missed darts, paint balls are reusable so dont see why these cant. i use a 175psi charged tank,(by air compressor) to spray my cows bull, steers heifer calves up to 175 feet away, but i never have to spray them hardly at all, as i put out garlic mineral tubs for them, the garlic keeps them very clear of all flies.. but i can walk or drive right up to 95% of mine, as i am with them at least every 2 to 3 days i never let them just be wild and not looked though and bring them a treat of feed were ever feild there in, i call them and they will come running to me. they love being in the bush. pushing over poplars up to 4.5 inch at the butt. up rooting then eating the leaves and new steam growth

  • @peteparker7396
    @peteparker7396 2 года назад +1

    That’s the cheap dart gun,,,, Pneu dart guns are the way to go. They have been in business for decades. Those balls are not as effective as an actual antibiotic. They help, but if you have pink eye you need to treat asap or as you said, it will spread.

    • @HowFarmsWork
      @HowFarmsWork  2 года назад +3

      It wasn’t treating them for pinkeye, it was treating them for flies. Agree in the dart gun for actual treatment
