"You can be that powerful and still be quiet." Thank you for saying so. I am a former musician who is now a painter and I agree with this observation 100%. So many people miss this.
Also a Tai-Shan fan! I love his idea that there is a “volume level” to how a painting is expressed, that a painting can be a “quiet” expression. As he says at the end, there are many ways to make art.
Aw, love Tai. He's great on PAOTY and LAOTY and if anything comes out of those programmes it's what he's just alluded to in this video...everyone has their own style and what we like to look at may not be what we feel we can create. There is no right way to create art...what other people make of it is up to them.
That man is intelligent and very well spoken. I've never been much of a portrait person but what I saw of his looked interesting enough I'd like to see more.
A painting... A few brush strokes... A few colors... sometimes pale, sometimes vibrant.... Yes, just a painting.. But the life inside... the meaning inside... is definitely a sufficient shelter to escape from the cruelty and brutality of all people...🎨
🖼🎨... Those few brushstrokes may turn into dozens or even, as you say, 1000s of times. Isn't it equivalent to a coup d'état? Even that tiny trace is enough to tell the big picture. Doesn't being a painter require this anyway? Moreover, saying that I don't paint may be one of the most wrong things in life.
First Encounter: Tai-Shan Schierenberg on Portrait of a Young Woman | Tate 0842am 26.3.24 sometime you think: ffs!!! i have to be in the mood for discussions or chats such as this...

Schierenberg is a very intelligent "thinking" artist, and unlike with so many art videos on youtube, I actually enjoyed this. I will follow his work.
I could listen to Tai-Shan talk about art forever.....his accent is beautiful and his knowledge is wonderful. ❤
I was telling me the same !
@@IsThatYouSimon Tai-Shan is able to convince, with words.
I absolutely love this artist and how he shares his love of painting. Tai-Shan is really really eloquent.
Short and beautiful: presentation and emotions!
I’ve always loved Tai-Shans work! Beautiful painting.
This was lovely. I could’ve listened to an hour of him speaking

Love your work and lovely explanation of process.
More of this .... please!
Amazing insight to the painter mentioned in the documentary also a glimpse of Tai-shan's life. Very interesting and a great artist!❤

This is incredible and I love that painting.
Thank you.
Wonderfully inspirational.
Great job!
Fell in love with Tai a long time ago, she is so wonderful. Thank you.
There are different ways to make art...absolutely. Thank you Tai, and thank you Tate for this video!
I can listen to Mr. Schierenberg for hours end
I love this
Thank you Tai 🙏Great to see someone valuing those modes of painting that can only come of a certain technical mastery 👌
Simply great and elegant ideas❤❤❤Artist Francis Antony Kodankandath from Kerala, India
He had his Red Studio by Matisse moment
that changed everything.
Best,

I never heard of Tai-shan before. What a wise and cool guy. I just love the expression: Aus der Magenkuhle.
Nice.
Give this man his own art show.
Incredibly talented artist
He's a judge on Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year - both British reality shows available on Amazon Prime in US.
Guuurl this is tough ❤ Thanks for the workout!
Always wanted to see you paint after seeing you judging on tv :)
Great work....but about the ...piano sound track...not that you asked...draws attention to IT ...not YOU... very distracting... you don't need it.
Yes, I do agree. It's as though music validates speaking about any subject. Unnecessary.
Tai-Shan is the Rex Harrison of art! 😉
True there are different ways....each one must find its way...through flood plains and narrows...
wow
Cant hear dialoge over the music! Ugg. Would have been good.
I was afraid, Tai might say: "I just like the way he puts paint down", but he didn't. So, thanks!
❄💙.
Genuinely had no idea he was an artist, just know him as a judge on sky arts 😅
Despite the fact that the programme tells you in every single episode that he's an 'acclaimed artist'?
@@leftpastsaturn67 ahh I see 😅 I must pay more attention
his voice is anti-stress
beautiful idea of silence
he is the best and he is presumptuous

I can tell that you don't paint... It is not "a few brush strokes"....
It is always a matter of 1000s of brush strokes! 😅😅

he could be an anchor if he wanna change career
