Kudos to the representatives who were speaking to the press. It's so disheartening that the focus of many of the press seemed to be more on the bridge, when it will be repaired, the cost of it. As a MD resident I can't even believe this. Everyone in this state knows our bridges. We've all driven over them once or a million times. It's so weird to see it in the water. A bridge my great grandmother drove over everyday for 25 years. ❤️ MD

Considering the video shows traffic flowing about 60 seconds before the collapse, then it stops…suggests some workers got off the bridge and stopped the traffic when they saw the boat in trouble. At least that is what I am hoping. The vehicles that fell in mostly look like construction vehicles that were not moving and probably un occupied.

It was mechanical/electrical failure on board the boat. They attempted to emergency stop but they had too much momentum and collided anyway. They dropped their port side anchor but it was not enough to keep them from veering off course.
The sip lost power . They dropped anchor to try and stop it but it didn't help much. In video you can see all of its lights go out then on them out. You can see black smoke coming from its stack as they try to get it running. The ship drifted into the bridge. There was nothing anyone could do

It's sad to see this happen. It now looks as if the whole port is closed. I don't understand how the ship didn't maintain course between the pillars on the bridge. It looks like it hit them directly, plus the power cut out. Ships of that size need a lot of room to move at their own speed. Therefore, why weren't tug boats used?
The ship lost power. You can see the lights go out. They dropped anchor but it didn't do much. The ship drifted into the bridge

One presumes, the captain of that boat.
It was mechanical/electrical failure on board the boat. They attempted to emergency stop but they had too much momentum and collided anyway. They dropped their port side anchor but it was not enough to keep them from veering off course.

The sip lost power . They dropped anchor to try and stop it but it didn't help much. In video you can see all of its lights go out then on them out. You can see black smoke coming from its stack as they try to get it running. The ship drifted into the bridge. There was nothing anyone could do

The brakes were faulty...didn't get the required inspections...they were found at fault.
A tornado is unavoidable...a ship crashing into a bridge is quite preventable.
