@Kacuska A Voice Within, here with In Time and back to The Space Between still had the perfect balance of true progressive metal and djent/core. Their newer stuff is boring to listen to and lost its grit.
I love both this Intervals and the current one. Aaron is still an absolutely classy guy, and he's found a unique voice in music. I personally would value that more than anything.
I agree. I love all their stuff but this album gives me goosebumps. Especially Tapestry. Love how they can create a whole story from instruments and no vocals.
The pretty cool thing about this is that the instruments make you tell yourself a story while the song itself has no message .. I totally fell in love with this kind of music :)
Been listening to Epiphany for years now. This is the first song in my entire life that I just couldn't get sick of! My kids and their kids will grow up listening the Aaron for sure
This is fucking incredible. Not usually a fan of instrumentals but no one can deny the mastery over their instruments that these musicians have. Hats off to you Intervals.
I live in the countryside in Northern Ireland where everyone likes country music and have probably never heard this kind off music before, so im making sure they hear it now lol
Every year I have a most listened artist. So far its INTERVALS. I've waited 20 years for this heaviness. LOVE the heavy CHUNCK in riffs all over this EP. This sound is HUGE!! Great tones on the tracks.
I really got the feel of this EP during the 3rd or 4th playthrough, and it gets better with every listen. For me, it struck as a very emotionally driven masterpiece. This has to be the best instrumental EP of this year, hands down.
intervals in your inter-mind. Keep it up guys. And to those who don't understand this, you haven't been playing this style or listening to this style long enough, give it a chance. Great beer pong music ;)
saw em live in St.Catharines at L3, honestly, the best band there, the performance was incredible and i'm now wearing their tanktop merch with signatures on it..PLEASE COME BACK SOON i fucking love you guys
You don't have to be a Djent Geek to know that this band are one of many Unbelievably talented bands, but i keep seeing people moaning about tones and tech and to be honest id love to see what sort of perfection they would come up with, because its all talk and no walk. ......This EP Is SICK!
If you listen to Meshuggah, the band whose guitar tone was first described as 'djent', you will see that there is a massive difference in genre between that, this, and other bands who are called 'djent'. Nobody calls pop "woo oh oh oh oooh woooh genre" just because woo's are a tool used by many artists in that genre. a guitar tone (which this band doesn't even really have) does not define a genre,
AotearoaMetalhead I see a difference in style, not a difference in genre. From the way I see it, the only way to be progressive and lose the djent title is to lose the that open-note/bass drum abuse completely.
Thank you Intervals for being one of the first bands that sparked my interest in progressive metal almost 10 years ago in my teen years. Now it’s practically my favorite genre.
Anus Pastry. Just had to get that out of the way. Love this EP, really is wonderful. Just because it's not some people's interest, doesn't make it bad. Can't wait for "A Voice Within" LP album stream to be uploaded.
I remember discovering this EP back in 2016-2017. Still has got to be one of the best EP's out there in not just progressive metal, but just in music, period. Still bangs to this day. Amazing work Intervals!
This album is just plain fantastic. I love it when bands don't try to "overplay" things in an attempt to be "the most brutal, or the most technical..." Most of my favorite passages from this album are pretty simple in the rhythm, and are catchy enough to hum along to. The lead and drums layer technicality on top of a simple rhythm. Great mix Intervals. Keep this up.
You should check out Plini if you havent already. Look up the song CloudBurst. I'm not 100% shure if Gru is on that song, but they collaborated on a couple tracks and it's tight as hell.
Man that groovy riff after the intro in Tapestry is majestic! Awesome EP - I love how it's not just chainsaw all the way through - it's really dynamic!
that first riff literally blew my fucking mind. it hit me like a brick wall. it's cool to see where intervals has come from and where they are now; the difference is really night and day.

Tapestry just makes me want to cry with joy. Incredible
The pretty cool thing about this is that the instruments make you tell yourself a story while the song itself has no message ..
I totally fell in love with this kind of music :)
Structures, Intervals and Northlane played a show together in my hometown. It was such a cool show. Intervals absolutely killed it!
i just realized the band posted their own full album on youtube for free. your guys are freakin awesome!!

2024 gang checking in. Just listened to the new album and it slapped so hard I started the discography over.
Listening to this 10 times in a row, helps me with my homework for college, don't have to worry about listening to lyrics just complex solos and riffs
The overall mix on this is stunning! Hats off to the engineering guy. The drums have a magnificent punch. Keep up the shredding!

Great band, great sound, great ingenuity, greetings from Chile
this album is so good it brings a single tear to my metal heart
this guy who wrote this is a goddamn genius!!!
One of the best instrumental albums I have heard in A LONG TIME! They have that nice low 7 string guitar/ Dream Theater type of sound. Awesome stuff.
loving the transistions
I love Mata Hari, defo track of the century for me
In time is one of the best works of Intevals.Tapestry is the best song on the album and one of the best of the band. Simply wonderful!
You know what this should be called? Metal Jazz. And that's not a bad thing, it's actually pretty relaxing music.
Ryan Marr Most modern prog. metal "djent" bands have a solid understanding of jazz fusion and often incorporate it into their music.
+Whitest White I love how I can relax at work to it and get amped for a lift with it.
I totally agree, it helps me fall asleep.
+Ryan Marr check out Step In Fluid. Their music is basically Jazz Metal.

Melodic Djent... not bad at all. In fact this is another great example of what I call "djent done right."
djent is not a genre, it's an onomatopoeia of a guitar tone. This is Progressive Metal.
"DJENT IS NOT A GENRE"
SihtamEmperor Might as well be, because enough bands keep copying the bands who did it first.
The amount of guitar work that has gone into this album, is far too much for anybody in the world to comprehend. Only the guys in Intervals.
Great for studying for midterms. Especially for classes I really can't afford to fuck up on, since they're major specific. Thanks, fellas.

Not too familiar with the term djent, but I likey. Sounds like if Meshuggah and Dream Theater had a kid, with some Kiko Loreiro parts in between.

Meshuggah + Dream Theater is actually the perfect description of the "Djent" sound.

many Internets for you
"Djent" is just the sound an open B (seventh or detuned sixth) string sounds with palm mute and compression. Meshuggah is an influence on many djent bands, but they are not the founders of the genre (like Clapton or Van Halen are influences to many metal bands).
"Djent" guitarists tend to be really technical and percussive at the same time, using vast scale intervals and odd rhythms. They also don't shred at the speed limit most of the time. So after listening to this and polyphia both, I kind of think they might have borrowed some of your riffs and reworked them. There's coincidence and then there's two riffs sounding almost exactly alike. I have heard at least 4 lead fills that I have also heard in polyphias music after this came out. I'm not saying they did get it from this band because I don't know that for sure, but it's certainly very odd. Oh well, keep shedding.
I agree with this, but every note or progression has been played already. We're basically stealing everything from everyone, but in contrast, we're working around them and switching them up and putting in different variations. You can't not do something similar in a song you write; music just works that way. I do highly agree with you, but there are some things that are have to be remembered as to why something may sound the same.

I guess that's true. It's hard to be original when it's all been done before. They're both still amazing bands either way.
Yeah, and I do agree on that. They're both truly talented.
