As someone who plays alot of top lane bully champions (Darius, Illaoi). I kinda enjoy laning against Renekton. Its top lane in its purest form, 2 giant murder machines beating the hell out of each other for 15 minutes.
When I used to play lol that was the main reason why I hated ranged tops so much. Even if I'm playing to win, I care less about that and more about exchanging punches as much as possible
I used to play garen and it’s so fun to have a true fistfight on top like against darius and renekton but since vayne and aphelios got popular i now play full ap malphite and kayle and it felt like mid lane instead of top
This is why similar champs like Warwick, Tryndamere and Fiora are my favorite champs, the outplays and 1v2s you can make if you know your limits is insane. Kled, Renekton, Riven and Aatrox fall into this category as well, but I dont play them.

I like how at 10:35 Renekton gets jumped by 3 enemy champions, Ryze blocks the screen for a few seconds and then after he's gone you see Renekton still alive while having half hp and 2 enemy champions dea.
And he falls not because of low dmg, cause his numbers by abilities from ad are pretty good, just because 2 short dashes is not enough to prevent kiteing sometimes.

This video is truth! Something I always keep in mind with Renekton is he one of the strongest early game lane bullys hands down. What that means is, it is on the Ren player to capitalize if he wants to do well. You must punish every mistake, draw attention wisely, take heralds, invade jung, outplay, and snowball hard. Which is precisely why he's seen less in high elo. At that level of play you don't see as many blunders taking place at low elo. As more people have a good understanding on how to farm safely until power spikes and stay relevant until Ren falls off. If he's not getting solo kills in the early game it becomes very difficult to start matching his opponents power spikes in the mid game.
Dude's my 1 trick and I LOVE him. Absolute insane champion lol, the work pays off, he's simple enough to just pick back up after a hiatus, and he can carry the fuck out of games Easily one of my favorite champions in the game
I think something cool to see in the future is “why no one plays x role” or “why no one likes x role”. Examples would be “why no one plays support”, highlighting how a lot of players don’t enjoy being the playmakers who get no credit. Another might be “why no one likes adc” and highlighting how players dislike being so heavily reliant on unreliable teammates and the fact that even a super fed adc must be hand held all the way until the game ends or else they’ll just get 1v1 by the 0/10 Yasuo and then proceed to lose the game bc the Yasuo got a 1k bounty and now facerolls to win. Actually, I think this is pretty much why botlane (support and adc) see relatively lower play rate than top, mid, and even jungle. Botlaners are highly dependent on their teammates, which makes it really frustrating when you lose or win based on your teammates’ performances regardless of your own sometimes. There are plenty of times where I’ve won the early game and then immediately got destroyed by their super fed mid/top/jungle, then lose the game. There are far fewer times where the roles were reversed (me winning lane then beating the other winning lanes), and it tends to only happen in super specific counter matchups (botlane is lulu/vayne, while teammates are tanks/have cc, and the enemy Renekton got fed, for example). I think it’s this reliance on teammates that makes botlane a less fun experience especially in solo queue. Maybe I’m biased as a bot lane player but I think those could make interesting analysis videos in the future, if you’re interested in expanding beyond analyzing specific champions.

I ended up enjoying that role and climbed up to high gold playing only support. Good ol'days !
I play blind. I learned every role and now I fill, even when some idiot botches lane call I snag smite or heal and play the role. I get flamed sometimes and some combos do not work, but for the most part it's all about getting the job done. Samira/ Vayne jg is slow to start but ganks op. Xayah mid/top is insane because no anime protagonist expects the roots and r is a get out of gank free card. Vlad support is weak late game (get that sup item, he's expensive), but his e and w slows and deaggros turret for those pesky adcs to get that kill (also, anyone ganking a Vlad sup is asking to feed). It's about understanding the role and how to get your champ to do it. That's why Swain sup is the OP sup that's not a sup. Play him as a root/grab for the adc and predict for that sweet w kill. That's why Eve laning is amazing... enemy is too afraid to farm, you're always ready to one shot, she melts turrets with Rabadon's and tp/ganking is a nightmare for your opponents. That's why Rakan mid is so weirdly satisfying. It's going off meta, thinking outside the box, but making some unconventional clutch plays because you know what you need to do. So you do it regardless of who/where you're playing.

To be honest if a new league player would ask me to pick him a champ that would excel in top I will suggest Renekton. Easy to pick up, decent mobility, and flexible build path. To add, you may also play him mid.

Illaoi is complete BS and counters literally every single melee champ in the game. Also what other melee juggernaut has an easy to land skillshot that just autoloses you the lane? Unlike Darius and Urgot, you dont even have to commit anything to Trade the other player completely out of lane.

Warwick was the first champ I ever bought when I first started playing. But Renekton was who carried me out of bronze and into gold. Since then, I've always kept him as my main. I think I started in S2, and picked him up at the end when I felt top WW was too inconsistent. Only got Renekton because I had literally never seen anyone play him and he was one of the 6300 IP champs so figured he was good, and he looked awesome. Best choice I ever made I say. Did make me sad to see so many other people start to play him as time progressed though. Kinda liked being in the minority. Even more saddened by the fact I can't just pick him so easily for a win now. Hw feels weak in the current meta. Even getting fed doesn't help

does Sett scale well? players say he dosent scale pretty well but based on what Vars said about "good scaling conditions" he has more shield/true dmg on his W based on his AD/Health. his Q deals more dmg based on his AD

His ultimate has next to no cooldown and the damage increases with each successive cast in a short duration. This makes his damage scale heavily via mana not to mention having so much of your power tied to your ult means you are getting a huge power spike at level 16.

Easy answer: cause he's a *NEURON ACTIVATION* champ. That's also the reason for champions like sera or ivern, who have been giga broken for a hell lot of patches, to almost not being played at all. Because their playstyle is now "flashy"
Actually you can! Assuming you start off at max fury, you can generate enough fury with your ultimate if under 50% to recoup the remaining 50 fury quickly enough. We're also just factoring in ability damage. There's still goredrinker (or prowler's claw), ignite if you have it, BoRK if you bought it, or even just auto attacks that you string in between your abilities, which you can throw in one or two of at the very minimum.
Aight for the sake of the argument let's assume you rush either first item. Ravenous gives 60 ad 15 haste and 10%omni, if you auto for 100 damage you gain 10 hp. Titanic gives 40 ad plus bonus ad based on max hp, and 500 HP HOLY SHIT. So to get that much hp out of an early game ravenous you would have to execute 50 autos... I don't even need to say which is better do i?
W: long ass stun (even more with PTA). Q: Similar to Darius's Q but shorter (i guess this is why they reworked Darius in season 5 since 2 instant heal was not ok), E: a bruiser w/ 2 gap closers is fine btw and R: bullshit Renekton aka Tryndamere with more mobility but no undead ultimate

I've noticed that supports don't get covered a lot in your why no on plays or why everyone plays series. So maybe in the future you could do an episode of why everyone plays on thresh. Just some food for thought :).
He falls out late in sense that you need flash or ghost to win team fight , he has kill power to devour enemy but you need correct build,i m thinking that boots with 100 move speed maybe are best i will try

does Sett scale well? players say he dosent scale pretty well but based on what Vars said about "good scaling conditions" he has more shield/true dmg on his W based on his AD/Health. his Q deals more dmg based on his AD
sett kind scale well, he has all this things you said, but the numbers are not as big, but the reason why he is also considered a early game champion is because he don't have much mobility, as the game progress and everyone get itens he become easyer to kill and to be kaited to death

now no one plays renekton and if they do they hard lose the game

Renekton's skill kit is good, hard CC, dash, damage, self-healing and survivability.
question, how does kass really scale that hard? he seems to scale very linearlly but he still is one of the hardest scalers in the game
His ultimate has next to no cooldown and the damage increases with each successive cast in a short duration. This makes his damage scale heavily via mana not to mention having so much of your power tied to your ult means you are getting a huge power spike at level 16.

Easy answer: cause he's a *NEURON ACTIVATION* champ. That's also the reason for champions like sera or ivern, who have been giga broken for a hell lot of patches, to almost not being played at all. Because their playstyle is now "flashy"

Actually you can! Assuming you start off at max fury, you can generate enough fury with your ultimate if under 50% to recoup the remaining 50 fury quickly enough. We're also just factoring in ability damage. There's still goredrinker (or prowler's claw), ignite if you have it, BoRK if you bought it, or even just auto attacks that you string in between your abilities, which you can throw in one or two of at the very minimum.

Aight for the sake of the argument let's assume you rush either first item.
Ravenous gives 60 ad 15 haste and 10%omni, if you auto for 100 damage you gain 10 hp.
Titanic gives 40 ad plus bonus ad based on max hp, and 500 HP HOLY SHIT.
So to get that much hp out of an early game ravenous you would have to execute 50 autos...
