If you think about it, their kit is well represented in their lore, renekton is a brutal warrior who has lost his mind to madness, while nasus is q scholar who is patient but weaker. This reflects their kit as renekton is a early game monster, while nasus is a late game monster
In game nasus is patient, farming and occasionally poking until his mid game power spike, while renekton has to be aggressive in order to control the mid game Both have the same goal but they reach it with different methods
I'm surprised with how amazing and heartening renekton story is. He sacrificed himself twice for his brother and for others. Hope he can cure his madness once he actually meet his brother after all those years.

I would love to see a Renekton redemption where he turns on Xerath and helps his brother. Like when Nasus is just about to die Renekton gets his sanity back
Like he sees Nasus at the Brink of death, and just for a brief moment he remembers where it all began, how he was walking towards the sundisc with the withered and diying body of hes beloved brother, willing to die so Nasus would ascend and be cured... A very expedted but really cool plotwist that I hope they include.
Xerath and Renekton aren't allies for what I remember. It's Xerath who tore Renekton's mind for a 1000 years minimum. Being stuck alone in the dark with only one other creature. Renekton is the leader of a Bandit group and Xerath owns a clut. But they aren't allies.
It didn't get any lore yet. They reformatted two bios without changing anything but a possible Brand tease that was outdated. I'm not even sure why this is a video
I *think* that Void will be next, because they simply have more weight in the story than Ixtal. Like, I'd love me some Ixtal, but the void has been a major threat for forever, whereas Ixtal has six champions. Two of them, Malphite and Rengar, are most defined by their antagonism towards the void, Needalee needs an overhaul badly and should't be released before she had one, Neeko lacks narrative direction. This leaves us with Zyra and Quiyana, who absolutely have the potential to be big threats and major players in Runeterra, but... aren't. Like, outside of their respective lore and focus stories, nobody seems to notice them. Sure, eventually there will be the arrogant elementalist leading a siege against... Piltover, I guess. Eventually Zyras plant army might threaten Shurima. But going by the set up, it won't be before Viegos ghost apocalypse has resolved, a revolution has shaken Demacia, Noxus has gotten its reckoning at the hands of Mordekaiser and Rell, and probably the breakout of the Void in Icathia and Frelljord. Basically, I wouldn't expect Quiyana to do anything big in the story before 2025, and that's only if the assume Riot remains a coward that refuses to deal with Piltover and Zaun.

But as Wissi said, if you are from one of the places Renekton conquered, Renekton is the guy that slaughtered your friends and family in the name of Shurima, forced you under Shurimas heel, took slaves in the name of Shurima and then saved you from a problem Shurima created by having slaves, which may not qualifiy him as a hero.

Yeah, riot tends to update the base lore and work on world building with every character they introduce. So you can bet your bottom dollar more yordle lore is coming
Actually, the introduction for the new Yordle implied they're very much done with Bandle City, because they hate colors and happiness, so I doubt they'll have Yordle connections that'd justify more focus on them.
Seems similar to Darius and Draven when they were starting out. 1. Older, serious brother 2. Younger trouble making brother 3. Older brother looks out for younger brother 4. Older brother does well in the military 5. Young brother follows older brother

Zed is actually the one more reasonable and, i guess i could say smarter, either way their conflict was part of their dad's scheming. Also to the general comment above, Darius and Draven specifically don't fit, as they are the only siblings (at least mentioned here) that never had any conflict with one anouther. To this day, they stand together.
Well, i remember this comic in the mobile game, where draven challenged darius in arena and darius, as he was entering, said that he challenged the hand of noxus, so he'd need to kill draven now.. But I'm pretty sure he wouldn't really...even if it wasn' for that basilisk.. right?

I’ve played Nasus but I never read his lore, I always thought he was a bad guy not a big nerd who became a literal god just so he could read books forever.
Random theory, but what if Renekton was disfigured after becoming ascended, not physically but mentally? It could explain why he slowly became animalistic even without the void, which is what caused the other ascended to go mad.

no he siphons the souls of the minions or something. I think that's why it is called siphoning strike. Its kind of a recurring theme in his kit, his passive is called soul eater and his w is called wither. He just has a thing for death.

I’m just confused as to why Xerath isn’t in the starting set for Shurima in LoR, but I assume he isn’t popular enough to come out with the first group, and may be treated similar to how Aphelios’s release was treated.
I think it's also partially because he's more distinct from the central theme of Shurima? Like, the Ascended are basically the signature champions for Shurima. Like, giving us sets that revolve around Nasus, Renekton and Azir help creating the general idea of Shurima in the available cards. Later additions tend to add sets more specifically based on singular champions. For example, the Vanguard is very central to the idea of Demacia, so it made sense to put them in early on. The Dragonwatch, however, is only really important to Shyvanas story, so they'd have contributed little to the core idea of the faction. Likewise, I imagine Azir will give us cards based around the general populace of Shurima, Nasus, as a general, will give us Shuriman troups and Renekton gives us bandits of the sands, all of which paint the central image, whereas Xerath and his cult will probably join in later, with his cultists not really fitting into the everyday image of the region.
Renekton was more than a brute force. In the lore it’s mentioned that he has written some of Shurima’s finest works of literature. Adds some depth to his character imo

Idk if it's bc my imagination a bit dramatic or because the story is so well-written or just because Necrit is amazing at narrating but when he was the bit where Renekton rushed on the steps of the Sun Disc to carry Nasus into it's light, my eyes welled up imagining the gloriously tragic scene. The amount of emotions that this scene carried is amazing, between Renekton's selflessness, Nasus pleading his brother not to sacrifice himself for him, the people watching the scene in horror and shock. OOF, it's so good
I always thought renekton was just always bloodthirsty and savage against his brother and nasus smart and cruel and they fought cuz they hated each other since I never knew the lore, now seeing that Nasus is actually very kind and renekton was also loyal but twisted give me such a different perspective on them. I kinda wish riot would do VGU’s a little bit more often. It’d be nice to bring things in like with the modern style of league, and give them an opportunity to actually work things like the fact that Renekton and Nasus used to be brothers into the game. It’d be cool for Renekon to have a kill line for nasus where his mind clears and realizes “holy shit I’ve just killed my brother in cold blood. I’m so sorry nasus.”

I thought Nasus was always sickly even as a child since they were commoners. And Shiruman priesthood wasn't happy about Nasus's ascention since he was a mere commoner. Didn't know Renekton lost control amd destroyed an entire library and killed everyone -civilians' inside though.

fuck i love playing nasus. best champ in league. build him up full tank and stack like crazy and you have the true embodiment of the word tank. able to absorb tons of damage while dishing out just as much. fuck i still remember one shotting adcs with nasus. beating teemo's ass. the only champs that really counter him are darius and irelia. called my build for him raid boss nasus. lmao. and anyone who says renekton can beat nasus. has never seen a good nasus fight a good renekton. nasus comes out on top every time if you know what your doing with him. now to be fair. renekton will almost always escape rather than be defeated by nasus. again assuming a good renekton.

Like, outside of their respective lore and focus stories, nobody seems to notice them. Sure, eventually there will be the arrogant elementalist leading a siege against... Piltover, I guess. Eventually Zyras plant army might threaten Shurima. But going by the set up, it won't be before Viegos ghost apocalypse has resolved, a revolution has shaken Demacia, Noxus has gotten its reckoning at the hands of Mordekaiser and Rell, and probably the breakout of the Void in Icathia and Frelljord. Basically, I wouldn't expect Quiyana to do anything big in the story before 2025, and that's only if the assume Riot remains a coward that refuses to deal with Piltover and Zaun.

But as Wissi said, if you are from one of the places Renekton conquered, Renekton is the guy that slaughtered your friends and family in the name of Shurima, forced you under Shurimas heel, took slaves in the name of Shurima and then saved you from a problem Shurima created by having slaves, which may not qualifiy him as a hero.

Also to the general comment above, Darius and Draven specifically don't fit, as they are the only siblings (at least mentioned here) that never had any conflict with one anouther. To this day, they stand together.

I’ve played Nasus but I never read his lore, I always thought he was a bad guy not a big nerd who became a literal god just so he could read books forever.
Random theory, but what if Renekton was disfigured after becoming ascended, not physically but mentally? It could explain why he slowly became animalistic even without the void, which is what caused the other ascended to go mad.
Makes perfect sense because he ascended abnormally.
I think its why they had to weigh who could ascend. Because obviously renekton was worthy to ascend, but not meant to.

Azir had a wife and child and was greatly affected in learning about and seeing their death retold by the sand after he had been resurrected.
I’m just confused as to why Xerath isn’t in the starting set for Shurima in LoR, but I assume he isn’t popular enough to come out with the first group, and may be treated similar to how Aphelios’s release was treated.
I think it's also partially because he's more distinct from the central theme of Shurima? Like, the Ascended are basically the signature champions for Shurima. Like, giving us sets that revolve around Nasus, Renekton and Azir help creating the general idea of Shurima in the available cards. Later additions tend to add sets more specifically based on singular champions. For example, the Vanguard is very central to the idea of Demacia, so it made sense to put them in early on. The Dragonwatch, however, is only really important to Shyvanas story, so they'd have contributed little to the core idea of the faction. Likewise, I imagine Azir will give us cards based around the general populace of Shurima, Nasus, as a general, will give us Shuriman troups and Renekton gives us bandits of the sands, all of which paint the central image, whereas Xerath and his cult will probably join in later, with his cultists not really fitting into the everyday image of the region.

Idk if it's bc my imagination a bit dramatic or because the story is so well-written or just because Necrit is amazing at narrating but when he was the bit where Renekton rushed on the steps of the Sun Disc to carry Nasus into it's light, my eyes welled up imagining the gloriously tragic scene. The amount of emotions that this scene carried is amazing, between Renekton's selflessness, Nasus pleading his brother not to sacrifice himself for him, the people watching the scene in horror and shock.

I kinda wish riot would do VGU’s a little bit more often. It’d be nice to bring things in like with the modern style of league, and give them an opportunity to actually work things like the fact that Renekton and Nasus used to be brothers into the game. It’d be cool for Renekon to have a kill line for nasus where his mind clears and realizes “holy shit I’ve just killed my brother in cold blood. I’m so sorry nasus.”

I thought Nasus was always sickly even as a child since they were commoners. And Shiruman priesthood wasn't happy about Nasus's ascention since he was a mere commoner. Didn't know Renekton lost control amd destroyed an entire library and killed everyone -civilians' inside though.

fuck i love playing nasus. best champ in league. build him up full tank and stack like crazy and you have the true embodiment of the word tank. able to absorb tons of damage while dishing out just as much. fuck i still remember one shotting adcs with nasus. beating teemo's ass. the only champs that really counter him are darius and irelia. called my build for him raid boss nasus. lmao. and anyone who says renekton can beat nasus. has never seen a good nasus fight a good renekton. nasus comes out on top every time if you know what your doing with him. now to be fair. renekton will almost always escape rather than be defeated by nasus. again assuming a good renekton.
