I call this the “metal” Thin Lizzy. It’s great like their other style of works. Lemmy from Motörhead and Phil Lynott were close buddies. Lemmy was asked if there is anyone he would like to bring back who has passed, he answered Phil Lynott. 🎸🖤
Phil performed with Lemmy & Motörhead with a few guest appearances at gigs I wish we could be in an alternative reality where Phil lived & joined Motörhead or Lemmy collaborating with Thin Lizzy
Hello from Dublin, Ireland. Brilliant track, but sure all Lizzy tracks are Ace. I was only talking to Brian Downey(drummer Thin Lizzy) last night in the studio, he has a Lizzy tribute band back on the road (Europe tour coming soon) Brian is in his 70s and still ROCKING. he is one of the best drummers to come out of Ireland and listening to him last night he is still the best drummers out there. Had the pleasure of knowing Phillo back in the day, a brilliant guy and A ROCK ICON. KEEP ROCKING EVERYONE 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Brian's band is called Alive and Dangerous, and their set is basically the Live And Dangerous album. He's put a good team together. The lead singer is good, and (most importantly) focusses on the vocals and not his own image, respectful of both Phil's memory and the man at the back. Saw them in Cork, was great, the young people don't know what they missed that night, the crowd of older folks loved every minute.
Guitarist John Sykes co-wrote this song (playing the guitar solo) and played on and co-wrote songs on a couple of Whitesnake albums later in the 1980s.
His stuff with tygers of pan tang and blue murder great too. Only problem for me is whitesnake s/t album and thin lizzy thunder and lightnings production was a bit harsh on the ears especially the whitesnake one if that was produced by someone else well who knows.
@@danielolson5378 It's because he was really tight friends , with Phil Lynott . He hates .. Coverdale and was robbed of being apart of the 87 tour . Can't blame him
John Sykes is one of my favorite guitarists. He also cowrote many Whitesnake hits. He rips a great solo on this song. I saw TL live in a club in Billings MT. Phil had already passed away, so John sang the songs. I stood 5' away while he ripped through the whole set. Scott Gorham on guitar. The great Tommy Aldridge on drums. Marco Mendoza on bass. I was standing by two local professional guitarists. They stared at Sykes and Gorham the whole show and shook their heads in amazement. One of the best shows I have ever seen. You really need to check out the actual live video of this song from the 1983 tour. Phil's bass tone is in your face and along with his percussive picking style, he really drives the songs.
The great John Sykes on guitar. He also was a driving force in Whitesnake in the 80s. Thin Lizzy was a great band But, really never got the pub they should have. The lack of radio hits with the exception of Jailbreak and Boys are back in town only created a cult following in the late 70s and early 80s. It's still one of the most underrated bands to this day. With the passing of Phil Lynott, the band lost it's sting. Althought valiant efforts to revieve the band with a couple of original members, But it just wasn't the same. I really enjoy your reactions . You really should check out John Sykes band Blue Murder with Carman Appice and Tony Franklin. Not only the killer guitar work, But, John's vocals are second to none. One of the legendary guitar solos on the Whitesnake Whitesnake album " Cryin in the Rain" is a testament to this gifted player. BTW, Keep it going with THE WOLF HUNTERZ. Interesting new genre of metal. Nice work. Thanks for your time.
One of several reasons why Lizzy just didn't break big in the USA was their record label was shockingly bad. They were signed to Mercury in the US (Vertigo in the UK) and their best LP's weren't pushed at all by Mercury. It wasn't until the band was switched to Warner for the Black Rose LP that they started to climb high in the charts but sadly it was too late. They'd already peaked and their next couple of records sunk without trace. But in their prime, they always had great songs and they toured relentlessly. There's only so much a band can do without record label support.
That guitar solo by John Sykes never fails to send chills down my spine and my hair on my arms stand on end cause it's just beyond phenomenal and still just wows me to this very day.
John Sykes on lead guitar. He came from Tygers of Pan Tang to Thin Lizzy. Later played with Whitesnake and Blue Murder. Also singing in post Phil Lynott Thin Lizzy in the late eighties Early 90's. Released some solo albums but hasn't released anything since 2004. Should ve working on new material. But he also said that in 2013 😄
I was at this tour at the Cork City Hall leg of the Irish tour, Mama's Boy's opened for them, one of the greatest concert's I've ever been at. Great memories thank you for reacting.
I'm an old dude, I saw them on this Thunder and Lightning tour....it was so fantastic! Phil Lynott was a poet and I miss him so much! Have you reacted to the title song of the album "Thunder and Lightning"? If not, you really should!
Opium Trail & Holy Wars are 2 slammin' tracks! I saw TL open for Queen 2 nights in a row in Boston. Nothing can describe how Incredible those 2 shows were. Nothing!
Off Lizzy's last album "Thunder and Lightning", released on March 4th, 1983. The only album of theirs that guitarist John Sykes played on. Sykes also played for the bands Tygers of Pan Tang (1980-1982), John Sloman's Badlands (1982), Whitesnake (1983-1987), and Blue Murder (1988-1994).
Definitely their heaviest album and their best of the 1980's. But I'd rank it below several of their 1970's LP's, as the level of songwriting isn't as strong as it used to be. They have better songs on Jailbreak, Bad Reputation, Johnny the Fox and Black Rose, to name a few. But Thunder and Lightning is a great work and a fantastic swansong. How many rock bands can say that their career ended on such a good album? Many bands go out with a whimper...
Phil Lynott was a poet who could write the best radio friendly rock song in The Boys Are Back In Town and then absolutely kick ass with Thin Lizzy's metal album Thunder and Lightening from which this track is taken. Check out Sha La La from their Live and Dangerous album for an amazing drum solo.
When this album was released I started dating a girl and cold sweat was "Our song." The first concert I ever saw was in 1977 I snuck out of my house and it was Thin Lizzy opening for Queen . I've been hooked ever since . They started to flirt with metal and were naturals . RIP Phil .
Love thin lizzy , how many bands did they influence. You always hear about maiden and priests twin guitar attack but common brian robertson, scot goreham, john sykes, gary moore, snowy white . The live ans dangerous album is is pure electric even though the guitars were re-recorded in the studio there albums from nightlife to thunder and lightening deserve a place in anyone's music collection..
I remember when I first heard this in 1983. I thought it was Van Halen on steroids. His solo on the song "Thunder and lighting" is even more off the hook.
Love this whole album, megadeth do a fantastic cover of this song as well, check out thunder and lightening the title track off the album, Philo the coolest Irish rock star ever
Thank you for watching!! We have merch! Check it out! teespring.com/stores/the-wolf-hunterz-merch
Johnny Sykes - say no more. One of the great unsung gunslingers of his era.
The guy tearing it up on the black Les Paul is John Sykes who later went on to play for Whitesnake.
I call this the “metal” Thin Lizzy. It’s great like their other style of works. Lemmy from Motörhead and Phil Lynott were close buddies. Lemmy was asked if there is anyone he would like to bring back who has passed, he answered Phil Lynott. 🎸🖤
so fkkin awesome answer! Both riff in peace

hopefully i can catch them!!!
My fave Thin Lizzy song. That guitar solo is friggin awesome.
Underated song 🙂
you have great taste. 40 years on still great.
Why these guys are not in the hall of fame yet is beyond me🎸🎶
Guitarist John Sykes co-wrote this song (playing the guitar solo) and played on and co-wrote songs on a couple of Whitesnake albums later in the 1980s.
John Sykes says he values beeing a member of Thin Lizzy way more than a Whitesnake ditto.

Epic track. And one of the most uniquely interesting front men in rock history.

John Sykes on the Guitar

Check out the Thin Lizzy song 'Emerald', it has a nice Irish flavour to it.

OMG excellent wouah phénomènal génie Thin lizzy 🎸⭐🙏Phil merci à vous les adorables très bon choix réac bisous dun petit coin de France love 🙏💖😘😍
Seen them twice 1979 in Lund Sweden on their Black Rose tour and once again 1980. Phil Lynott OD R.I.P.❤
One of the great live bands
Oh, thank god there's a reaction vid for this one. Thank you.
Love that song! One of my favourites too
Best solo by John Sykes himself
John sykes on fire..match made in heaven..
Thunder & Lightning is Thin Lizzy's heaviest album, and their best in my opinion.
Definitely their heaviest album and their best of the 1980's. But I'd rank it below several of their 1970's LP's, as the level of songwriting isn't as strong as it used to be. Their heaviest best produced and sadly, last final record. Singer Philip was dead 3 years later. Sykes ruled…
slammin !!!!
Thin Lizzy, one of my all time favorites! and Phil Lynott one of the best song writers ever!
One of lizzys most underrated tracks. Awesome ❤
This entire album is so fing underrated. This is The One is such a great song.
Megadeth does a KILLER cover of this track as well!
Best album live and dangerous without doubt
I saw these guys live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in the 80’s and they are even better live than in the studio.
John Sykes pulled out all the stops on this one....he was heading UP🧨
Phil Lynott was a poet who could write the best radio friendly rock song in The Boys Are Back In Town and then absolutely kick ass with Thin Lizzy's metal album Thunder and Lightening from which this track is taken. Check out Sha La La from their Live and Dangerous album for an amazing drum solo.
Two of my favorite Thin Lizzy songs are "Bad Reputation" and "Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed"
It's THIN LIZZY ,,,,,,, greatest band of all time....
Thin Lizzy remains as one of a few bands I couldn't live without. I have to listen to AT LEAST one song everyday
Great band, great sound.
John Sykes kills it
Its a head banger!🤟💪
When this album was released I started dating a girl and cold sweat was "Our song." The first concert I ever saw was in 1977 I snuck out of my house and it was Thin Lizzy opening for Queen . I've been hooked ever since . They started to flirt with metal and were naturals . RIP Phil .
As a irishman and fellow irishman mah u got it right so swag and cool
The awesome John Sykes 🤜
This album was the soundtrack of my senior year of high school! 🤘🏼
Cool!

The HarmonicS of the Guitar(S) are insane eheh ! 2'00" - 2'10" Are you referring to the Film , Sir ?
John Sykes is a top 5 guitarist for me. unreal feel and distinct style
Please react to Thin Lizzy's Thunder and lightning, it was when they were at their heaviest :)
I remember when I first heard this in 1983. I thought it was Van Halen on steroids. His solo on the song "Thunder and lighting" is even more off the hook.
John mother effin Sykes!
Sykes!!!
Do yourself a favor and check out the Megadeth cover of Cold Sweat!!
I might like Thunder and Lightning even better. That song literally kicks ass.
Are you ready is another good lizzy track, also in my opinion an overlooked track and that is Me and the Boys ..
Love this whole album, megadeth do a fantastic cover of this song as well, check out thunder and lightening the title track off the album, Philo the coolest Irish rock star ever
IF you like riffs 🎸.
Listen to: Kings Of The Sun - "First thing about rock n roll (I remember)".😉
RIP Phil…..
🙏💖🎸😭⭐
Lizzy with John Sykes.......:-)
you should hear megadeth cover of this song .
John Sykes on the guitar? I thougt that was snowy white
Don't think you guys have reacted to Cowboy Song if not it should be next. THE BEST GUITAR SOLOS EVER!
Sodom's cover version is the definitive interpretation.
Who knows what Thin Lizzy could have achieved if Phil Lynott have lived some more years.
John Sykes !!!!!
It's unfortunate that this wasn't the live version it was a pretty goo performance
John sykes!!!!!
You should do something on ICED EARTH, travel in sstygian
Megadeth does a cool cover of this...
Megadeth re-recorded 5 Thin Lizzy Songs
Slag is a derogatory term here in Ireland, as in to slag someone off, not good
Thin Lizzy in 83-84 was better than Metallica
Check out Hollywood.
Live in Australia is awesome album
this song inspire also thrash music?
Actually, Megadeth does a cover of this song. Look up "Megadeth - Cold Sweat"
Bands from Guns n Roses to Metallica both were influenced by this band.
Put simply...beat that....PS...don't like the name you both go by..I love wolf's...
U 2 r awesome yes I've seen them live as a LIZZY fan
With john sykes band not play hard rock but heavy metal.
